Lu Boyi went silent for a moment and sighed softly. “Children have their own lives. I won’t interfere. Let them deal with their own affairs!”

The words demonstrated Lu Boyi’s attitude. Lu Qiang had a brief chat with Lu Boyi, then he hung up.

This affair had caused an emotional turmoil in Lu Boyi’s heart. One side was his own son, and on the other side, he was facing the formidable and wide range power of the Murong Family.

In the hospital, when Lu Yang returned to the ward, the little girl was sleeping soundly. Murong Yunxi was also in a deep sleep.

He stepped forward and sat down beside Murong Yunxi. He held Murong Yunxi’s delicate and white hand in his rough and big hands. He had never held her hand like this, before. If she was not in a coma at this moment, he would never have a chance to do this.

Murong Yunxi’s small hand was very soft. Lu Yang was too fond of her to let go of it, and a strange feeling stirred in his heart.

“Xiao Xi, what should I do with you? I really can’t bear to let you go. I want to hold your hands like this all my life, grow old with you slowly and protect you, for a lifetime.”

Lying in the hospital bed, Murong Yunxi made no response. Lu yang sighed softly and continued to say, “In fact, I always think it might be good for you to stay this way. At least I can see you everyday and touch your little hand like this. Perhaps my wish to hold your hands forever, can only be realized at this moment.”

Lu Yang bent over and stroked Murong Yunxi’s cheeks, looking at her delicate face. His fingers touched her eyebrows and brushed her closed eyes, then he ran his fingers over her prominent nose, all the way to her slightly pale and delicate lips. Her lips were pink and tender, they had been well taken care of, by the owner. Her lips were not chapped either, and were still soft and delicate.

Lu Yang was a little emotional. He licked his lips gently, and wanted to kiss her. He hesitated, then he bent his head.

He was a soldier, he could not conduct himself in such a disgusting way, and his conscience deeply troubled him. However he was also a normal red blooded man. His beloved woman was in front of him, and all he wanted to do, was just to kiss her.

Lu Yang was torn between these two thoughts and his forehead was covered in sweat. He finally decided to kiss her, when suddenly a little hairy head popped up. The little girl looked at him, her small eyes showing her confusion.

He instantly blushed at his disgusting thought, but his dark complexion did not show much. He felt less embarrassed.

“Niannian, you are awake, do you want an apple? Uncle will peel one apple for you!” Lu Yang went to the sofa and sat down. He picked up the fruit on the table and began to peel the apple for the little girl. The little girl did not speak at all. Lu Yang was used to her silences, so he simply did what he said he would do.

The little girl climbed into the bed, and grasped Murong Yunxi’ hand with her small hand, like what Lu Yang did.

When Lu Yang peeled the apple and handed it to the little girl, he saw what she did. He instantly blushed again.

“Well, Niannian, Shall I take you downstairs to the garden for a walk? You’re always staying in the room, and it’s not very healthy for you. Let’s go out and get some sunshine.”

Lu Yang held the little girl’s hand and took a stroll in the garden. He was tall and big, so when he walked beside the girl, he had to slow down deliberately. Only by shortening his steps could he adapt to the walking speed of the little girl.

Suddenly Lu Yang’s mobile rang, and he saw that it was a call from the army. He could not help but wonder if it was his family urging him to go back.

Thinking of this, he put his cell phone on silent mode and put it back into his pocket. He had never done this before. He was rather disturbed. He had never rejected the army’s call before, and the principle of soldiers obeying orders and commands, was deeply rooted in his mind.

At this moment, he had just violated a basic rule of being a soldier, and it troubled his conscience.

He found that recently, he had done a lot of things contrary to his principles, all for Murong Yunxi’s sake, and suddenly he felt as if he was going crazy.

While he was lost in thought, his phone rang again. The little girl raised a pair of small,bean-like eyes and stared at Lu Yang, as if she was asking why he did not answer the phone.

Lu Yang hesitated for a moment, then he answered the phone. At the other end of the line, came the voice of the instructor. “Commander Lu, I have something to tell you.”

Lu Yang responded softly, and the instructor continued. “It’s strange that recently many people have been looking for the woman you rescued. Who is she, anyway?”

Lu Yang frowned slightly, and was a little worried. “Oh? Who has been looking for her?”

“A group of people left their contact information, saying that their surname was Murong. They asked if we had seen this woman during the rescue, and I saw that it fits the description of the woman you took away. Without your consent, I dared not say anything, so I just told them that I had no impression. It was chaotic at that time, so they left a phone number and asked us to search carefully for the woman. They told us to call them, if we have any news.”

After the instructor finished speaking, Lu Yang responded. The situation was pretty much the same as he expected. He continued to ask,”You just said there are many people, who else is looking for her?”

“There was another group of people who didn’t say who they were, but their attitude seemed to be bad. They were unlike the Murong Family’s men, who were friendly. The men from the Murong Family seemed to be very anxious to find her, but the other group just gives me a bad feeling.”

“Oh? Did the other group of people leave any contact information?”

“No, that’s why I thought it was strange. If you really want to find someone, why would you not leave your contact information?”

“Well, Old Wei, I know that. Don’t talk to anyone about it. If someone asks you, just say you don’t know!”

“Old Lu, where are you? When will you come back? When did you suddenly become so mysterious?”

Aftering ending the call, Lu Yang’s heart went cold. The Murong Family had already searched among the army. Where did they get the information from? Then again, who were the other group of people?

He thought for a while, and then dialed a number.

“Hello, Qiangzi, have you been busy lately? Can I ask you for a favor?” Lu Yang called one of his childhood friends, Hao Qiang. They had been friends from childhood to high school. After graduation, he went to military school, and Hao Qiang got into a police school. However, Hao Qiang didn’t become a police officer after graduating from the police school, instead, he became a detective.

Hao Qiang said that he felt that being a police officer was not fun enough, and it was bound by rules and regulations. He felt more comfortable as a detective. But he never thought that today’s detectives were not as good as Detective Conan. There were no strange cases for him to investigate. More often than not, he was tracking and spying on people’s privacy, gossip and other trifles.

This was the first time Lu Yang had asked him for help, in all these years. It surprised him.

“Oh? When did you have something you couldn not handle? I did not expect you would need my help one day, I’m flattered! ”

Lu Yang let go of the girl’s hand, and he stepped aside. “I want you to investigate a group of people for me.”

“Oh? Who? I’m good at that!”

Lu Yang told Hao Qiang his story briefly, which aroused Hao Qiang’s curiosity. “Oh, you are really something. Now you have learnt to keep a mistress! You have grown up!”

Hao Qiang had never seen Lu Yang taking a second look at girls, but this time, he actually had the nerve to do so. Hao Qiang was not only curious about Lu Yang, but also interested in Murong Yunxi. So he said yes straight away.

Lu Yang instantly panicked, Niannian was Murong Yunxi’s life. If he lost the girl, when Murong Yunxi awoke, how could he explain it to her?

He searched through the garden of the hospital, but saw no signs of Niannian.

He came to the front yard of the hospital again, but the little girl was not there either. The whole hospital was alarmed by his anxiety. Its security personnel, even the doctors and nurses began to help him search for the girl.

He followed the security captain to the surveillance room. In the surveillance room, they finally saw the little girl at the staircase entrance, at the side of the corridor. Following the girl’s steps, they unexpectedly found that she had returned to the Murong Yunxi’s ward, by herself.

This calmed Lu Yang down. He thanked the security captain hurriedly and ran all the way back to Murong Yunxi’s ward. When he pushed open the door, he saw the little girl standing quietly beside Murong Yunxi. At this moment, he thought the scene was so peaceful and beautiful.

He did not know that the little girl was not Niannian. He did not know that she was just a little girl whom Murong Yunxi had accidentally saved in the earthquake. In fact, they just met, and were not even familiar with each other.

He only felt that the love between mother and daughter was so deep and so enviable. At this moment, he wanted to be with them. He wanted to protect them as a husband, and as a father. She was his beautiful wife and the little girl was his clever daughter. He even thought selfishly, that he wanted to hide them in a place that nobody knew about. So they could live a stable life as an ordinary family of three.

Lu Yang stood at the door of the ward, savoring the quiet and beautiful picture, as he kept imagining their future life, in his mind.

The mobile phone interrupted his fantasy again and when he answered the phone, he heard the voice of the security captain. “Mr. Lu, I want to tell you something. Just after you left, I continued to watch the surveillance for a while, and I found that several people have been sneaking around, outside your wife’s ward before.”
