Angered by her lack of responsiveness, Lu Qing waved his hand to alert his men. “Pull Lu Mingaside and beat him to death,” he snapped.
“Let’s see how you protect him then.”
As soon as the men heard this, they immediately ran toward Yao Tang and Lu Ming. Their eyes were fierce and their hands were clenched. “Watch out, girlie, let’s see how you’ll do against us,” they snarled.
Lu Ming, upon seeing the situation, gritted his teeth.
He struggled to push Yao Tang to the side, staring them down. “They’re all coming for me,” he murmured. “There’s no need for you to stand beside me. Besides, he might hold a grudge against you later. I’ll try to look for an opening later. As for you, you should go!”
“An opening?” She hesitated, gazing at the injuries marring his body.
Lu Ming nodded, panting.
He had already used up all his strength during the fight. Even talking was strenuous for him, and his body had really taken a punch this time around. Despite this, he still appeared strong and unmoving.
“An opening,” he murmured, his gaze settling on Lu Qing. Immediately, he pushed Yao Tang aside and launched himself at the men running toward him. His eyes blazed in arrogance and violence.
They had initially thought that Lu Ming was going to die. With his weakening state, they had assumed that he wouldn’t put much of a fight. That’s why they were surprised that his punches and kicks still hold a certain amount of force to knock them out of their game.
What was even more surprising was how Lu Ming had spotted a gap in the crowd and found a way to jump right behind Lu Qing, grabbing the man unexpectedly.
“Run!” he yelled at Yao Tang. “Don’t come any closer.”
Lu Qing froze.
Before he could even react, Lu Ming had already grabbed him in a chokehold. He struggled to breathe, slamming his hands on the man’s arms, but it was to no avail.
It seemed that he still had a semblance of strength left in him.
At the thought, Lu Qing gritted his teeth.
No matter what, Lu Ming must die today.
Lu Qing’s eyes narrowed with anger as he clenched his hands around his seat. “Lu Ming,” he threatened. “If you kill me now, you wouldn’t be able to leave this place alive. Not only that, but that chick over there is going down with you. If you can’t think of yourself, then think of her. Do you really want her death to be your fault?”
Lu Ming tightened his hold around his neck. “Let her go first,” he commanded. “And then you’ll leave.”
“I am a man of my word.”
With one last nod, Lu Qin signaled his subordinates to step back.
Lu Ming stared in Yao Tang’s direction and was about to tell her to leave as soon as possible. However, as soon as his grip had loosened, Lu Qingseized the opportunity and flipped him around.
The chair crashed down from the impact as the man pinned him to the ground. A small smile slipped into his lips.
“Catch her now! And kill him.”
“Yes, Sir!”
All the hooligans split into two groups. One group had rushed toward Yao Tang, while the other group surrounded Lu Ming, with knives and batons in their hands.
Lu Ming gritted his teeth.
It seemed that they both didn’t have the chance to run away.
“Yao Tang,” he murmured to himself. “I’m sorry.”
He closed his eyes, not wanting to witness his friend’s death.
However, what he didn’t expect was to hear screams—not from Yao Tang, but from the men surrounding her! They were all screaming for help, but why? What was happening?
Only upon opening his eyes did he see Yao Tang soaring through the crowd. She kicked and smacked every single one of them, dodging any of their hits. One by one, they started falling.
Wham!
Yao Tang kicked away a man rushing toward her when her phone rang in her pocket.
Groaning in frustration, she glanced at her vibrating phone. She didn’t expect it to ring at this moment. With a roll of her eyes, she knocked another man to the ground and walked up to Lu Ming.
Helping him up, she prepared to carry him out.
