Chapter 444 - Her Grandfather

Xu Xuan didn’t know why her grandmother was asking this, but she still nodded.

Her response seemed to excite the old woman, though there were brief flashes of hesitation and anxiety on her face.

“And she is your classmate, yes?”

“She’s just a friend who attends the same school.”

“Oh,” Grandma Xulooked deflated. Her disappointment was gone in the next second, though, and she quickly asked, “Then do you know her grandfather? He—”

She cut herself short.

Xuanxuan probably didn’t know, anyway. After all, they just happened to be schoolmates; they shouldn’t be close enough to exchange personal details about their respective families.

Nevertheless, she had already asked, and Xu Xuanwas able to supply an answer. “I do know a little about her family.”

She wasn’t one to care for gossip, but she would always hear things about Yao Tangsince everyone was constantly talking about her.

She considered what little info she had tucked away in her brain and organized her thoughts before speaking.

“Yao Tang is the cousin of another popular student, so they should have the same grandfather. As far as I know, their grandfather is still alive.”

Xu Xuan took out her phone and started to search for more information on theYao familyinCity A.

“The Yao familyis quite famous around here, so I should be able to find something on the Internet.”

Grandma perked up in surprise. “Are you saying that she’s a part of the Yao familyhere inCity A?”

Her reaction took Xu Xuanaback. “What’s wrong, Grandma? Do you know anyone from theYao family?”

“No, no, not at all.”

Grandma Xu told herself that she was overthinking things. Surely there couldn’t be such a wild coincidence in the world. She shook her head and threw her speculations out the window.

‘It can’t be…’

She had long since found that person’s descendant, so this simply couldn’t be.

But when she saw Little Tang earlier, she couldn’t deny the inexplicable sense of familiarity that had washed over her. At some point, Grandma Xuhad even thought that she was seeing glimpses of that person in the girl.

“Never mind, just forget it. We have no need for that bracelet anymore, so let’s just leave it in Little Tang’s care from now on. I will make some snacks one of these days. Be sure to bring some to her, all right? We must thank her properly.”

The old woman assumed that Yao Tanghad probably taken an interest in the unique material of the bracelet, prompting her to want a closer study.

“Of course, Grandma.”

Grandma Xu nodded in satisfaction, then remembered something else. “Xuanxuan, how has the Miss been doing recently?”

Xu Xuan thought about it for a moment. “She’s doing okay.”

“Xuanxuan,” the old woman said sharply, her brows furrowed. “Don’t you lie to me now. Is she really okay?”

“I’m not lying to you,” Xu Xuaninsisted.

“Fine, then. I’ll take a short nap.” Grandma Xuwaved her away. “Go and do what you need to do.”

Once Xu Xuanwas out of the room, the old woman let out a long sigh.

That faraway look returned to her dim eyes.

That evening, Yao Tangopened a video conference.

She sent the conference ID to Lin Xinand started the call.

To her surprise, it wasn’t just Lin Xinwho appeared on the screen. There were about twenty to thirty other people as well. All in all, it looked like the entire class had joined the conference.

Yao Tang was at a loss.

But then she recalled the pile of test papers, and her expression softened. If one looked closer, one might even think she was smiling through her eyes.

“Since everyone is here, let’s begin.”

When Li Yueentered the conference, she was shocked by the sight that greeted her on her screen.

She was a senior who was graduating from university this year.

A teacher in her class had informed them that they would be having a class meeting tonight to discuss issues regarding employment. They had also been reminded not to be late.

Well, Li Yuewas not late.

But why was a university teacher discussing high school mathematics?

She floundered for a bit before thinking to check the details of the video conference on her phone. Only then did she realize that she had entered the wrong conference ID.

She had mistakenly joined a different video conference.

Li Yue sighed and rolled her eyes at herself. She was just about to log out when a cold voice rang out through the speakers, stating a new example problem.

In just a few sentences, the problem was analyzed clearly, and a solution was provided.
