Fang Hui stared at the screen incredulously.
It turned out that their leader was actually a straight-A student. Who would’ve thought? The corners of his lips twitched up into a smile.
The lunch break passed by very quickly. Before everyone knew it, afternoon classes were about to begin. Everyone in the room was as quiet as a mouse.
While Yang Nian was writing, Yao Tangsuddenly stood right in front of him. “Let’s go,” she stated emotionlessly. “I already got my things.”
He raised his head, his eyes filling with surprise.
His mind swam with thoughts and questions as he struggled to decipher the meaning behind her words. Was she really telling the truth? Or was she pushing him enough to cancel the bet?
Could it be that she had really gotten it?
Despite all the questions, he slowly stood up. “Okay.”
From the noise, everyone in Class 20 snapped away from their sleepy daze, their gazes fixed on the two people who had stood up.
Qin Jing and Lin Xinhad originally still been looking for a manuscript score. They were too busy tapping on their phones to care. However, upon hearing Yao Tang’s words, they dropped their phones in relief.
It seemed that their friend was not just comforting them. Yao Tang really had the manuscript in her hands.
When Qin Jing glanced at Qin Rui’s contact number, she snorted coldly. Her brother still hadn’t replied to her. How useless!
Just when she needed him, he was nowhere to be found.
..
When they finally reached the restaurant, Fang Hui was already sitting in one of the booths.
“Commander Yao,” he called out, waving her toward him.
Yang Nian furrowed his eyebrows at the title he had given her, but he didn’t think about it too much. Instead, his thoughts were more concentrated on the items that she had said she has.
The man glanced at the people surrounding the young student as a smile crossed his features. “Are they your friends?”
There was a hint of shyness in his smile.
“Hm, this is Qin Jing and Lin Xin,” she introduced, not even bothering to introduce Yang Nian. Fang Huididn’t ask either.
“Well, it’s been a long time since you’ve practiced with us. When do you plan on coming back? I even brought the score you’ve requested.”
As he was speaking, Fang Hui pulled out some papers from his bag and handed them over.
Even from afar, Yang Nian could see the grief dancing in the man’s eyes. It’s as if the thought of parting away from the score was a death sentence.
“Check it.” She took the score and handed it over to Yang Nian.
Then she glanced back at Fang Hui. “What happened to you?”
He had a complicated look on his face. “It’s nothing. It’s just…”
Yang Nian didn’t bother to listen to their conversation as he grabbed hold of the music score from their hands. As soon as he held the pages, he pursed his lips. The weight and texture made it appear authentic.
He took a closer look at the manuscript and saw a name written on top—just below the title of the piece.
A trace of shock flashed across his eyes, and his hands couldn’t help but tremble.
He didn’t expect that Yao Tang would be able to acquire this manuscript. Was this the reason why she had remained so calm when he asked for it?
He flipped through the pages over and over again, only to find that the score was truly authentic.
If she could provide the manuscript from the very beginning, why would she ask him to provide a tombstone?
When Lin Xin and Qin Jingsaw that the score had arrived, excitement flashed in their hearts. However, the worry was still evident in their gazes. If Yao Tangwasn’t able to acquire the tombstone, then she still lost.
Did she have it?
As everyone was looking from side to side, a sound of a rumbling car engine echoed from outside of the restaurant.
It was a loud enough sound to capture all of their attention.
They turned to look at the window to see an unusual car parked by the entrance.
While the body of the car was sleek back, there were stripes along the doors that took the hue of red and orange. It was distinct enough to catch everyone’s eye and ludicrous enough to make anyone turn away.
Before long, a man dressed in spikes and leather stepped out of the car. A wide smile was painted across his face.
He took one glance at the name of the restaurant before stepping inside.
Qin Jing and Lin Xincouldn’t help but feel as if there was something wrong with their surroundings. Why did it feel a bit chilly?
Only upon turning around did they find the reason why the atmosphere had suddenly gotten colder.
Yao Tang.
Qin Jing carefully gazed at her friend’s face.
Just then, the young man walked toward them and waved.
“Yao Tang, long time no see! I’ve missed you.”
His voice was as cheerful as ever.
