29 Lullaby

After several days I regained my voice and my sight and I was getting better everyday. Kyle would sing me to sleep on most days and he got a journal were we would write to each other until I could talk again. He was so kind and attentive and had practically moved into the hospital with me.

I was glad to see that Rita and James had finally got together and they made a really good match.Andrew came through with his iPad to update me on work, then some urgentpaperwork that I needed to sign and Kyle was not happy about it.

"Babe, I thought we agreed that no work while you're here?" He scowled at me and Andrew.

"I know and I'm sorry-but this is rather important," I said as I went through the document.

"Andrew-I think you should be barred from coming her?" He pointed at Andrew.

"Sorry Kyle but I'm only following orders," Andrew laughed.

"Well I order you not to come here if it's business related." Kyle stated.

"Kyle, stop patronizing Andy," I laughed.

"Okay-I'm giving you 15 minutes to work.After that he's out," Kyle said firmly.

"You can't do that." I protested.

"Yes I can and I did," he kissed my forehead. "I'm going to make a few calls and I want him gone by the time I get back okay?"

"Fine," I rolled my eyes and sighed.

I handed over the documents to Andrew and he sat in the corner checking something on his iPad.

"Good morning all!" Rita breezed in with James close on her heels.

"Hey My-My," James leaned over and kissed my cheek.

"Hey guys-why are you looking so dapper? What's the occasion?" I smiled at them.

James was dressed in a light blue suit, white shirt with no tie and black leather shoes. Rita was wearing a matching floor length dress andsapphire studs with a matching bracelet.They looked like they were heading to a charity ball or something but it was a Wednesday afternoon.

They smiled at me and Rita came over and squeezed my hand. Then she exchanged glances with James. They were all smiles.

"Hey-are you guys getting married or something?" I clasped my hands together, my eyes gleaming.

"No-but we're going to be part of a wedding..hopefully," James winked.

"I don't understand," I looked confused.

"Don't worry, it will make sense-just be patient," Rita held James arm.

Rita picked up a brush from the side table and started brushing my hair. She was clearly happy about something.Maybe they were already married and they were waiting for Kyle, so that they could tell us altogether.

Andrew stood up and opened the blinds for the window and sitting outside my room directly opposite me , I saw John Legend sitting behind a piano. I gasped and everyone in the room laughed.

"OMG! Is that John Legend sitting outside?!" My eyes almost popped out of their sockets.

"Yes-your celebrity crush-well besides Kyle of cos," Rita smiled.

John Legend smiled and waved at me. I waved back-completely starstruck. His sound team came and set up the sound system in my room, while his band was busy setting up outside.They gave James a thumbs up, indicating they were ready.

Kyle walked in with a priest as John Legend started to sing This Time. I sat forward my hands in my hair, as realization set in.

My eyes got misty and I held put my hands to Kyle. He drew me into his arms and we clung onto each other.No one said a word. There were tears all around, everyone was a bit emotional.

"I love you," I whispered to Kyle as I turned to face him.

"My heart is yours babe. Always," Kyle said as he kissed me softly.

"You guys are just too much!" Rita wailed as she dabbed at her eyes.

"You're ready to get married?" Kyle smiled through his tears.

"As I ever will be," I cupped his handsome face in my shaky hands.

"She's ready!" Kyle grinned as he announced to everyone in the room.

Everyone took their places aroundus and Kyle hopped onto the bed.We turned to face each other as we sat side by side.

We said ourvows, exchanged rings and were officially announced husband and wife. Kyle kissed the bride longer than necessary and we couldn't help but cry tears of joy.

"You're officially mine baby!" He gushed as he kissed me again and again.

"Hey-that's enough!" Rita protested, as she pushed Kyle aside. "Congrats hun! I'm so happy for you both!" She enveloped me in a hug.

"Congrats! I wish you guys all the happiness in the world," James gave a group hug.

"Okaay-sorry to be a party pooper but my patient needs to rest now," Dr Williams said as he stood at the foot of the bed. "Guess congratulations are in order," he smiled at us.

"Yeah, they are," Kyle looked lovingly into my eyes. It made me blush and burst with happiness.

"I just wish I could take my bride home-any chance of that happening today?"Kyle raised his eyebrows.

"I'm sure we can work something out-but tomorrow possibly," Dr Williams said. "But- you all need to leave now.That is those of you who don't live here of cos, " he laughed.

"I'll just go and see John quickly and I'll be right back babe. Would you like an introduction Doc?" Kyle asked Dr Williams.

"Definitely!" He rushed after Kyle.

"We have news." Rita and James exchanged smiles.

"We're engaged!" They said simultaneously.

Rita showed off her pink diamond ring and was about to cry again.

"Wow! Congratulations!" I hugged Rita and then James. "That's great news guys!"

"Well I didn't want to waste anymore time. I know what I want so I'm going to hold onto it,"James kissed Rita on the cheek.

"Aww my love.. you're the sweeetest," she brushed her hand under his chin.

"We will swing by tomorrow Mrs Kinley," James smiled, as he gave me a goodbye hug.

"See ya later Mrs Kinley," Rita gave me a quick squeeze.

"Leave some for me," Kyle said as he walked back in the room.

"She's all yours," Rita patted his shoulder as she walked out.

"Try not to wear her out," James laughed with Kyle.

"See you guys later," Kyle said as he hopped back onto the bed.

"So Mrs Kinley..it's nap time," he said as he put his arm around my waist.

"You're going to stay?" I asked as I snuggled against him.

"All day and all night babe. Till eternity," he said softly as he stared deep into my eyes.

I fell asleep to the sound of Kyle's soothing voice, as he sang me the sweetest lullaby.
