Chapter 336 - Nine-Tailed Fox Demon

A fox demon was a mythical creature that was written in many historical records. One record said that Emperor Hui met a fox spirit that possessed an extreme beauty that could make any person fall for them with one glance. In the end, the hunter joined the fox spirit and his child to die. In the last spurt of life of the fox spirit, it saw its child and husband being tortured and finally turned into a fox demon; it cursed the village before dying.

It was a horror story. But no one could deny that it was true love even after death.

Lin Xiaofei recollected the time she spent reading these stories. There are countless stories and records of it, but at that time, she thought it was just a man's imagination of perfect true love and an illusion made to deceive the people.

"I was thinking about the hunter's story." Lin Xiaofei didn't keep anything hidden from him. "The fox spirit, because of its fate and what happened to its life, turned into a fox demon... Are you the same as that fox spirit?"

Qu Xing Xu was stunned for a moment. Initially, he didn't understand what she meant, but then, he recalled that he also read the hunter's cruel love story. Since it happened a very long time ago, Qu Xing Xu was unclear if the hunter's story was real or not.

However, a fox spirit turning into a fox demon was indeed not a lie.

"I am the same, but also not," he replied to her question.

Hearing his answer, Lin Xiaofei tilted her head in confusion when she heard him speak once again. "There are indeed some cases where a fox spirit turned into a fox demon. However, it wasn't through their power alone. Every fox spirit has cultivated a lifetime worth of magic inside them. But turning into a fox demon with power alone isn't enough. They needed a thousand lives to kill and souls to eat in order for them to turn into a fox demon."

He added, "The hunter's fox spirit only used its remaining life and magic to curse the village."

"Then, it was never a fox demon in the first place? It was just a fox spirit until the very end?"

Qu Xing Xu nodded when he heard her ask. It was good that Lin Xiaofei was not too confused about his explanation and immediately understood it without any problem. Thankfully, she rebirthed and lived two lives, or else, she would have taken a very long time to absorb all the information he handed to her.
