Chapter 179 - What's Inside the Box (2)

Lin Xiaofei slowly pulled the hidden small compartment on top of the box. It was too small to notice and had the size of an inch of a finger.

After the cover was pulled to the side, there was a small mutton jade in the shape of a flower. That jade was the only embellishment that was on the box and encrusted deeply on the top of it thus, it wasn't visible to others.

Soon after she saw the jade, Lin Xiaofei held her palm over where the jade was and let three drops of her blood drop on it.

'Drip'

'drip'

'drip'

Lin Xiaofei stared at the box for a moment before she secured a handkerchief around her bleeding hand. The rustling noise of the fabric was the only sound that could be heard inside the room.

In the past, Concubine Xian would always bring her along with her. It may sound like Xiaofei was being favored by the mother of the fourth prince but only she and the concubine knew what was really going on.

As beautiful as concubine Xian was, she was as cruel as any criminals who had committed heinous crimes. She has been on the radar of the previous emperor not because of her pretty face but because of the deeds that she secretly did during her years as a concubine of Emperor Yun, who was a prince at that time.

Lin Xiaofei could say that concubine Xian was her mentor in scheming and doing evil things. However, she will never forget how she was forced to do it the first time.

In a flash, Lin Xiaofei saw herself standing on murky water as she remembered the first time she was forced to kill someone.

"What are you still doing, sweet Xiaofei? Why aren't you fighting back? Is that everything you could do in order to stand beside my son?" Concubine laughed at the beautiful woman struggling in the hands of a eunuch who was holding her down.

There were two men wearing a eunuchs uniform but Xiaofei knew that the man wasn't a eunuch in the truest sense. The proof was the bulge that was partially visible from his clothes.

"Please, don't do this to me! I'm your son's wife!" Xiaofei cried and begged but the man was stronger. He still hadn't ripped her clothes and was waiting on concubine Xian's order, but she knew that it won't be too long before she really commanded him to do it.

"Indeed, you are. But not the wife I wanted for my son!" Concubine stopped laughing. She menacingly stared at the woman her son took home and said, "And since you stole him from his rightful wife, you must know why I'm doing this."

Xiaofei shuddered in fear for her life and innocence. She never stole Yu Fangzhu from anyone as he never told her anything about him being already betrothed to someone and having several concubines. She even ended up as one too. However, Yu Fangzhu's mother thought that she needed this to happen for her to grow stronger and more ruthless.

It was a stupid and inhuman way to make a person grow.

But Lin Xiaofei was still thankful for the cruelty that Yu Fangzhu's mother showed to her. After all, she was also the one who ended that woman's life anyway.

As if a tendril of smoke was twirling around her, Lin Xiaofei shook her head from the memories she locked deep inside her head.

Looking around, she breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that she was still in her room and not inside the nightmare of her past.

That night, concubine Xian took her out in the disguise of buying some dresses in the market but when they arrived in a room, a man held her down while Yu Fangzhu's mother mocked her before leaving.

Thankfully, she was able to escape from being violated by that man and killed him on the spot by poking his eyes with her fingers and stabbing his neck with a hair ornament.

Her obsession with hairpins and other ornaments that could be used as a weapon started from that day and no matter where she went, she would always carry a weapon in her person.

'kacha!'

Having her attention taken by the sound, Lin Xiaofei looked down at the box and saw that the lid opened on its own.

She was slightly surprised that the box still opened on its own. The first time she saw the box, concubine Xian was there and showed her how to open it. She didn't know why would Yu Fangzhu's mother do that but it was probably because she trusted Lin Xiaofei the most and that she was her loyal slave, hence, she ended up making the biggest mistake of sharing its secret with her.

Even though she didn't know where the box came from and how it was made into this, Lin Xiaofei was sure that it had to do something with what kind of jade was used.Find authorized novels in , faster updates, better experience, Please click /book/the-birth-of-a-villainess_16977433905988805/what's-inside-the-box-(2)_50025667902885645 for visiting.

There are thousands of gemstones on the entire continent. They take a unique form and texture that makes them different from one another. And by going to that theory, one would guess that the mutton jade was the rarest Blood Moon Jade that could be found near the shore where sharks and deadly beasts live.

The Blood Moon Jade cost more than half a million gold tael and one must hunt through the sea to get it. But no one has ever gotten one. No one even had a glimpse of it and it was even said that the jade was only a made-up rumor for gem hunters so they would be sent to their own deaths.

Reaching her hands forward, Lin Xiaofei swallowed down her saliva as she became nervous to see the contents of the box once again.

The first thing one would see was the parchment that was on top of the other items inside. When that was put away on the side, the other items were finally uncovered.

Inside the box, there were three items inside it.

The first item was a scroll that had brownish rusty stains all over it. The second item was a gun the size of a hand.

And lastly, the third item was a golden token that was carved into a soaring dragon.
