Chapter 204 - "Grandfather"

Lin Xiaofei took something from her wide-sleeved robe and threw it on the ground.

She casually said, "Take as much gold as you can."

"Ah?" Shen Mo's eyes almost popped out of its socket. "Young miss, you don't mean to sack all the gold in here right?" 

Lin Xiaofei tilted her head and her lips curled up. Her eyes sparkled at his words and said, "What a good idea. Since you want to sack every gold in here, I won't stop you then." 

Lin Xiaofei initially wanted to take whatever fits inside that bag that she gave to Shen Mo. However, since her bodyguard already opened his mouth and suggested that they take every gold there, she naturally won't stop him.

More gold was equals to more funds.

Shen Mo froze like a huge slab of ice and looked up at the sky. He's probably asking for help but no one seemed to hear his plea of mercy.

He was just asking out of shock. How did things ended up with him taking all the gold there?!

Looking at the small smile on his young lady's lips, Shen Mo resigned to his fate and started to work.

At first, he thought that it would be quite hard for him to take the gold from that place. However, he was soon proven wrong as he started to know what was before him.

He was momentarily blinded by the golden light underneath his feet that he didn't manage to see through the truth of the sand.

Aside from the sand that was two inches deep only, chunks of gold as small as a nail were easy to find. But that wasn't it all. As he continued to take all chunks of gold inside the bag, he stumbled on a black rock that was as huge as a man's fist.

He originally wanted to ignore it but the moment his robe rubbed on the surface of the rock, a golden color soon was uncovered.

"Young miss!" Shen Mo exclaimed in excitement as he brought the rock to her.

"What?" Lin Xiaofei glanced at him then at the rock in his hand.

As he said this, the thing in his hand that was supposed to be a rock turned out to be a gold.

"This… isn't this gold?" Shen Mo swallowed hard as if he had never seen such a huge gold in his entire life.

Lin Xiaofei nodded her head but didn't have much of emotions showing on her face as if she already knew this fact.

"…What else could it be if not gold?" 

Shen Mo: "…'

Seeing him turning into a rock, Lin Xiaofei comforted him as she said, "Don't be so happy with just that. There are bigger gold you can find everywhere."

She patted his shoulder, "Take your time and return when you're done."

Then without saying any further instructions, Lin Xiaofei walked forward till her figure disappeared from his line of sight. 

As she walked, a river appeared before her. However, because it was near the unmarked land, the river didn't have it's lively atmosphere that was normally seen when one found a river. Adding the darkness and the black ground, it looked gloomy and scary. 

The water also seemed to be black and one couldn't see what was in the water.

Lin Xiaofei, however, didn't stop walking as she found the boundary that was in between the unmarked land and unmarked graveyard that will soon lead her to the small village that was near the town.

"Young miss!" Bai Lu rushed to her as soon as she saw Lin Xiaofei walking back to her courtyard.

The young maid was in tears as if she was bullied but the way her lips were turning upwards, Lin Xiaofei wasn't sure what to make up of Bai Lu's sudden outburst.

"What is it?" She asked as Bai Lu stopped in front of her.

"Young miss! The… General Lin woke up!" Bai Lu happily reported.

Usually, Lin Xiaofei's expression and emotion wouldn't show in her face. But just after hearing this wonderful news, she didn't care about the black dirt that was on the hem of her skirt as she immediately run towards where her grandfather's courtyard was.

She saw Lin Feng standing outside the door as though he had just come out of the room and briefly greeted him before she stepped inside the room.

Lin Feng was shocked at her appearance and laughed at her urgency to see her grandfather before he left with a smile.

Inside the room, Lin Xiaofei stopped with her back to the door. Her eyes couldn't stop welling up as she saw the old man who always had that doting smile on his lips sitting on the bed with the quilt covering his lower body.

"Fei'er." Lin Xiaomeng noticed her and called out her name. He gestured for her to come to him but she stayed standing still where she stood.

Seeing her slightly disheveled appearance that was quite different from her usual noble and elegant self, Lin Xiaomeng didn't know whether to cry or to laugh.

In the end, he chose not to do both as he saw her eyes reddening and her hands trembling.

This child… Lin Xiaomeng was helpless and waited for her to gather herself up and come to him.

But Lin Xiaofei was lost in her inner thoughts. Having seen her grandfather well and away from death, only Lin Xiaofei knew how much relief and joy that she was feeling right now.

She never got to cry for the loss of her loved ones in her previous life as she didn't know what happened to them and see them off. And when Lin Xiaomeng, the only person who showed her familial love in this life suddenly was in the brink of death, she wad distressed and sorrowful.

Slowly, her tears fell down her from her eyes to her cheeks and chin. If it was alright, she will do her best to live this second life to the utmost best and take care of the people who cares and loves her.
