Chapter 227 - KEVIN AND LUKE

15 minutes before Kris caught his lover 'cheating' on him.

When Luke just arrived at the orphanage, Kevin immediately grabbed the man by the arm before dragging him toward the living room of the orphanage, not giving the grey-haired man to greet the birthday boy.

"Hey! Why are you dragging me? I don't even have the chance to wish your boyfriend a happy birthday!"

Kevin rolled his blue eyes when he heard Luke protesting. "I have an important thing to discuss with you before you can meet Kris."

They finally arrived at the living room, and Kevin threw Luke's body on the couch before sitting himself next to the grey-haired man.

"I can report you for harassment, Kevin!"

Luke was overreacting, and it irritated Kevin a little. "Did you find new information about your uncle? Did you finally manage to hack the mysterious email account?" The black-haired man directly asked to the point.

Luke went back to his stoic expression and stared at Kevin flatly. "You just want to take advantage of me, right?"

Perhaps Kevin didn't intend to take advantage of his colleague, but he indeed sounded like it when he immediately asked for the progress of the investigation when Luke just arrived at the orphanage.

"I'm sorry," Kevin immediately apologized. "Something happened, and I'm in a hurry to find the real culprit."

Kevin suddenly sounded guilty, and Luke's cold expression melted a little. "What happened? If it's something bad, then I will help you to solve your problem."

Kevin and Kris didn't have any intention to tell other people about what happened in their apartment. They couldn't trust anyone now, and the tragedy was too gloomy that he couldn't bring himself to recount the story.

That was why he decided to skip the story.

"Nevermind," he replied as he looked away from Luke. "It's not that bad, so you don't have to worry. I just need you to help me with the investigation related to your uncle."

Luke seemed to be disappointed by Kevin's answer, and he lamented weakly before shifting his gaze away from Kevin. "I've tried to hack the account, but the security system is too tight," he replied in rather a guilty tone. "There are only two bureaus with that kind of security system in the country, and those are the Intelligence Agency and the Military."

Luke's further explanation caused Kevin to widen his eyes. "How come you be so sure about that? Is there any pattern for the security system?"

Kevin didn't know much about how the security system worked, so he immediately asked the IT expert about the thing that bothered him.

"Yes, it's kind of a pattern from those two bureaus," Luke answered while looking back at Kevin. "Don't you know that our country invested so much money on the security system in the Intelligence Agency and Military? It's because they have so many secrets related to this country, and they need the tightest security system."

Kevin noticed that it was too dangerous if Luke wanted to continue hacking the mysterious account. Instead of being able to open it, they probably would be caught by either an Intelligence Agency or Military for illegal investigation.

"Just stop the investigation, Luke," Kevin decided. "We might be sentenced to death if the government finds out our illegal investigation."

Luke frowned at him, seeming not to agree with his opinion. "But I'm willing to help! I also want to know about my uncle's secret!"

Kevin could understand Luke's feelings. He was also so stubborn when he wanted to know the secret related to his parents, and he was willing to do anything for that.

However, he realized that they couldn't be reckless this time.

"If you want to help me, then I will give you another task to do, Luke."

It was the real reason why he insisted on inviting Luke to Kris's birthday party. He had an important task for the grey-haired man, and that was why he forced Kris to let him invite Luke.

"Can you get me the surveillance camera footage of a famous apartment in this city?"

Luke stared at Kevin in confusion. "You want to get surveillance camera footage of a famous apartment in the city? But why?"

Kevin just voiced a strange request, and Luke was puzzled upon hearing the request.

"Something happened in the apartment," Kevin vaguely replied. "I can't tell you the details, but if you manage to get what I want, then I will certainly tell you everything."

Kevin was indeed taking advantage of Luke, but that was the only idea he got in his mind.

The bloody incident in the apartment. Even though Kris's trusted subordinate had said that he couldn't find the culprit on the surveillance camera footage, he couldn't help but feel suspicious.

The incident happened in a prestigious apartment with lots of surveillance cameras and a tight security system, so how come the culprit managed to avoid all the cameras? There was still a tiny possibility, so Kevin wanted to seize the opportunity.

Even so, he deliberately hid his plan from Kris because he knew how close Kris's relationship with the subordinate was. He didn't want to let Kris know anything before he had enough proof in his hands.

"Getting the footage won't be a big deal for me, but I think the task is not that simple. You want me to retrieve the deleted data, right? You suspected that someone deliberately deleted the data, right?"

Luke guessed it so accurately, and Kevin couldn't help but laugh at the green-eyed man. "You have the talent to become a detective, Luke. Why didn't you become one when you have a natural talent?"

Kevin seemed to be able to melt the tension between them, and Luke started laughing as well.

"Maybe I'll become a private detective after I resign from Orka."

Kevin was about to reply to the man's statement, but he didn't have the chance because the door to the living room suddenly opened from the outside, and he could see his lover froze in the doorway.
