Chapter 234 - I HATE YOU TOO

"So, you know about my mother's plan related to me? You know that she would pretend to be another person?" Kevin immediately questioned the fierce lady when the lady was taking a break from telling him the story.

It was another version of the story, and Kevin listened to it solemnly without interrupting the lady.

"She didn't tell me the details, but she indeed told me about her plan in using the face-changing serum to change her face. She was hiding from your father, so she didn't have any choice other than to do that."

Grace had known the plan all along, but she didn't tell him anything from the start. Grace was pretending to be a stranger, someone who didn't know both him and his mother. If his foster parents didn't tell him what happened in the past, he would still be a fool in Grace's play.

"You said that you met my mother for the last time back then, but from your story, I could tell that you and my mother had a good relationship. Why did you stop meeting her? She was trying so hard to defeat my father, and she would need your support to help her, right? Why did you leave her?"

Kevin was facing Grace now, and his gaze pierced sharply into the lady's soul. Grace didn't turn to him, and her expression remained flat and hard like the iron.

"What do you expect from me?" The lady asked him back instead of answering his question. "Your mother asked me to leave her, so what should I do except for complying with her wish?"

["What do you mean I should leave you and forget you, Mom?" Grace asked Selena in a surprised tone.

Selena just told her an unexpected request, and she stared at the lady in disbelief. The older woman told her to leave her and have a new life without remembering her as her adoptive mother.

"Do you want to dump me, Mom? I'm still living in the orphanage now, but I'm still your daughter, right? You are my legal mother, so how come you want me to leave you?" Grace kept pestering the older lady because the said lady didn't give her a response.

Perhaps it was a hard decision for Selena too, but Grace still wanted to get an explanation from the professor.

"My journey in the future will be difficult, so you have to stay away from me. I have told the orphanage caretaker to cancel my adoption, and you will be back to be an orphan in the orphanage again. I'm sure that you will get a better mother and probably a father too in the—"

"You just want to get rid of me, right?"

Selena couldn't even finish her words because the young girl suddenly cut her speech while glaring at her. The professor became panicked when she saw the girl's expression was full of hatred.

"That's not what I mean, Grace. I just—"

"Enough!" Grace once again cut Selena's speech. "Even my biological mother chose to kill herself instead of raising me, so I shouldn't have any hope in you, right? Your husband didn't even let you adopt me, and now you have your own kid, so I should have expected it that you wouldn't want me anymore!"

And Grace left Selena without looking back at the professor again.]

"Your mother didn't want me anymore, so why should I stay with her in her difficult time?" Grace asked Kevin, this time she was willing to turn her head toward the young scientist.

"My mother just wanted you to stay out of trouble! Can't you see her good intention?" Kevin asked another question while raising his tone a little, but Grace just looked down at him arrogantly.

"You were angry at me because you thought I left your mother without a reason, but after hearing my story, you agreed with your mother to push me away?" The fierce lady attacked Kevin with another question.

Kevin realized that he had been inconsistent. He was angry at Grace because the lady left his mother in her difficult period, but after he heard the story from Grace, he knew that it was his mother who wanted Grace to stay away from her because she cared about the fierce lady's safety.

Unfortunately, Grace couldn't see the good intention of his late mother, and she chose to turn her back and ended up hating the pathetic professor.

Kevin was now angry because Grace couldn't see his mother's good intention even after so many years passed. He needed some time to accept his mother's sneaky plan, but he could accept the plan in the end.

He didn't mean to compare himself with Grace, but the two of them were true could be compared with each other in a situation like this.

"Your mother had gone, so why are you still defending her? Don't you know that she had been pretending to be another person for seventeen years? She had been deceiving you, so how come you're not angry with her?"

"I was angry with her, but I could understand her good intention for me! Unlike you who immediately turned your back just because of a small misunderstanding!"

Kevin didn't mean to be rude to the older person, but he was so upset because Grace ended up hating his mother when his mother had been fighting for her for so many years.

Even when Joseph couldn't accept Selena's decision to adopt the baby Grace, Selena still secretly adopted the baby and loved her with all she had.

His mother had been loving the orphan Grace to the point that she wanted to keep Grace safe until the end, but Grace ended up seeing the good intention as a way to dump her.

"I don't care even if you hate me for what I've done in the past, Kevin," Grace suddenly spoke again while turning her head ahead. "Your mother had dumped me because of you, so I have the right to hate you too, right?"
