Chapter 243 - IS IT THE TIME?

It was such a tiring day, and both Kevin and Kris were getting ready to sleep. Today was Kris's birthday, and they should have done 'something' more than just sleep side by side. However, they were too exhausted now and ended up doing nothing on their bed.

"Do you want to know what gifts I got from our friends, Kev?" Kris asked his fiance as he lied down next to his lover.

They didn't even face each other and chose to stare at the ceiling, seeming to be busy with their thoughts.

"Do you think I don't know what they gifted you?" Kevin replied with a small smile plastered on his face. "You opened the gifts in the car when I was driving to our house, so I could see what gifts you received from them."

Kevin felt that his fiance was a little dumb tonight. His fiance asked him to drive the car to go back to their house while he was busy opening the presents like a little kid.

Kevin said nothing when the taller man was busy with the presents, but from the corner of his eyes, he could see what kind of presents his fiance received tonight.

Perhaps Kris just busied himself so that he could distract himself from the current issue, so Kevin just let his fiance enjoy his birthday presents.

"I still want to tell you the gifts, Kev," Kris spoke again with a hint of humor in his voice. "Your precious sister gifted me a warm sweater. I know she knitted the sweater herself, and that's why I called it warm. Did she learn how to knit from you?"

Kevin raised an eyebrow as he glanced at Kris. "Blue did tell me that she wanted to give you a sweater, but she watched some tutorials for that. Do you think I can knit? Do you think I'm like an old grandma who will knit in my free time?"

Kris chuckled when he heard his fiance's question. "You are my old grandma, right? But I love you," he replied while turning his head to his fiance.

They laughed together for a moment before Kris continued to describe other presents that he received from their friends.

Jack gifted him a watch before he and Kevin left the orphanage, and it surprised him because he didn't expect that the abnormal Jack would gift him a normal gift. Julia—ah, the lady was upset earlier, gifted him an expensive belt. Then Luke. Kevin's colleague was kind enough to give him a notebook. A cheap notebook. Kris facepalmed when he opened the present, but he still saved the present in the end.

Then Kevin's parents unexpectedly sent an email to him, and two vouchers for a month's holiday in their resorts abroad were attached to the mail. Kris thought that Kevin's parents just wanted to advertise their resorts by gifting him such gifts.

All gifts were precious for him. Yeah, even the cheap gift from Luke was precious because it turned out Kevin and Luke had worked together to give him the surprise earlier. Perhaps Luke was not that bad.

"I think Casper is a wolf in a sheep disguise. He looks innocent from the outside, but he's naughty inside. He's even more naughty than Jack, right?" Kevin questioned his fiance, but then he remembered something. "Speaking of which. What did Jack tell you that you decided to agree with me to invite Luke to your party?"

Kevin just remembered he had not questioned his fiance about that. He knew that Jack was planning something when the latter whispered to Kris a few days ago, but he didn't have a chance to question Kris about it.

"Ah... that?" Kris asked back while frowning at him. "Jack has an idea to pair up Luke with Blue. I thought that it was a stupid idea because Luke likes you while Blue likes Jack, but I think we can give it a try. Too bad that we didn't have a chance to execute our plan."

Kevin gasped upon hearing Kris's explanation. "You agreed to invite Luke because you want to get rid of him, right? You are naughty, Kris!"

"I'm not naughty, Kevin," Kris denied the accusation. "I just see it as an opportunity, so I decided to give it a try. I'm not wrong, right?"

Kevin shook his head at his fiance's denial. Jack and Kris were both sneaky. Jack didn't even realize Blue's feelings for him, but he shamelessly wanted to pair up Blue with someone else.

If Blue learned the truth about it, the girl surely would feel hurt.

"I think we shouldn't think about that matter now, Kris," Kevin suddenly spoke again as he brought his gaze to the ceiling again. "We should focus on finding the real criminal and finding AZURE too. The others have known about the thing we were hiding before, so we don't need to pretend in front of them anymore."

"You are right," Kris replied. "Tomorrow we will meet them again to see the footage from Luke, right? I will give you a chance to prove your suspicion of Steve, Kev."

Kevin appreciated Kris a lot. Kris believed in Steve wholeheartedly, but he was still willing to look at the footage because he asked him to.

"We can think about that tomorrow, but now we should sleep, Kris," Kevin spoke again as he brought his body to face Kris. Like became a habit, he started seeking comfort in his lover's embrace, nuzzling into his lover's neck.

Kris smiled as he started hugging his lover's body. "Good night, Kevin. You know that I love you the most, right?"

Kevin shut his eyes and smiled. "I love you too, Kris."

The two of them fell into the dreamland right away. Probably was too tired and all they needed was rest now.

But then Kevin's blue eyes opened again, and his face displayed a panicked expression. He felt something was not right with Kris's body, and he brought his hand to touch Kris's arm.

It was burning so much!

"Is it the time?" Kevin whispered to himself.
