Chapter 155 - KEVIN'S PLAN

La Tazza was one of the most famous coffee shops in the city. It was famous for the originality of the taste and also the interior of the place.

The coffee shop looked classy with a retro theme. The place was dominated by brown shades color. From the wall, the tables, the chairs, and also the other furniture in the shop were in brownish.

The distinct aroma from the coffee beans enveloped the place. The classic scent of the coffee greeted the nostril, teasing the owner of the nose to give it a try.

Kevin was not a coffee lover, but there were times when he was craving for the bitter sensation. His favorite was the not-so-bitter espresso, and he ordered the drink today.

It was time for lunch, and the shop was quite full of customers. They were lucky that they still got a table to enjoy their coffee.

Kris ordered an americano this time. He enjoyed the bitter taste of it, and the high dose of caffeine could boost his mood.

Opposite the two men, a beautiful lady was sitting elegantly. She wore a dark purple dress, and her long red wine hair was styled ponytail. She didn't order a coffee, but a slice of cheesecake and a glass of orange juice accompanied her instead. Coffee was not good for a pregnant woman, so she opted to skip the drink today.

"I didn't expect you would take your bodyguard with you, Kevin," the lady, Julia Concord, spoke to Kevin as she glanced at Kris for a moment. Her slim hand grabbed the fork and started digging the cake.

Kevin smiled tenderly at the lady. "He is not my bodyguard, Jule," he calmly corrected the lady. "He is my boyfriend."

Julia's hand movement halted when she heard Kevin's confession. She then put the fork back on the table and looked up at Kevin. "You are dating a werewolf?" She asked in disbelief as she stole a glance at Kris.

Kris was still calm, but he flinched a little when he heard Kevin's confession earlier. He didn't expect his lover would come out to the lady today. They didn't plan this kind of conversation before they came to the shop.

"You are not surprised by the fact that I'm dating a man, but you are surprised because I'm dating a werewolf?" Kevin asked in bewilderment.

He expected Julia to be surprised, but he didn't expect that Julia would be cool about him dating a man. She was just surprised because he was dating a werewolf.

"I'm not an old lady, Kev," Julia replied as she folded her hands in front of her bumpy belly. "I'm a woman with a wide perspective, so I won't judge your sexual orientation." She paused for a moment and peered at Kris again. "I'm just surprised because you are dating a werewolf."

Kevin was still smiling at the lady. He didn't seem to be offended by the lady's sarcasm.

"You can accept my sexual orientation, and I hope you can also accept my werewolf-xual orientation."

Julia frowned when she heard a weird vocabulary coming out of Kevin's mouth. "You have learned a new language, Kev?" She asked in an amused tone. "It seems like you love this werewolf so much."

Kevin giggled as he peeked at his silent lover. Kris had been quiet all the time. He had said that he would only be a company for Kevin and wouldn't disturb their conversation, and it seemed like he kept his words.

"I used to be apathetic about love, Jule. I had never dated anyone before I met Kris, and I didn't believe in love. When Andre told me that I would find the right one, I mocked him and didn't take his words seriously. Now I realize that Andre was right all along."

Hearing her husband's name being mentioned, Julia's body flinched a bit. Her face was slowly painted by the color of pain and longing.

"Andre cared a lot about you, Kev," the lady stated softly. "Every night before we fell asleep, he would talk about you highly. He admired you a lot, Kev. And he wanted you to be happy."

Kevin was stunned. He had known that Andre cared a lot about him, but he was still surprised by Julia's words. Jack's story a few days ago proved the assumption. The cheerful man was even willing to sacrifice himself just to make sure Kevin would be safe.

"Andre had done a lot for me, Jule. I can never pay him back," Kevin replied as he ducked his head.

Kris noticed his lover's sudden change of mood, and he silently grabbed the latter's hand underneath the table. He said nothing, but the warmth in his hand said a lot of things.

Kevin reciprocated the grab as he strengthened his heart. "If I can do anything for you, I will gladly do that, Jule," he spoke again as he raised his head and stared at the lady. "Anything, except if you ask me to kill Jack."

Julia froze for a moment, but then she laughed. She lifted her pretty hand to cover her mouth as she said, "I know you will never kill the werewolf, Kev." She stared at Kevin playfully. "And I don't need anything from you. As long as you are happy, then I'm fine. That's one of Andre's biggest wishes, after all."

This time, Kevin was the stunned one. He didn't expect to see Julia smiled at him sincerely. There was no hatred and any heavy feelings in those beautiful orbs. Kevin could only see sincerity and love from a sister to his brother. Kevin's heart was hugged by a comfortable warmth all of a sudden.

"Are you okay, Jule? Don't you hate me because I stopped you when you wanted to kill Jack?"

Julia was quiet for a moment as she glanced at Kevin's wounded hand on the table. "Why should I hate you when I'm the one who hurt you at that time, Kev?" She looked up at Kevin and threw a guilty gaze at the man. "I couldn't control my emotions back then. I couldn't think straight, and all I wanted to do was just to kill Jack. I was crazy that day." She then drew her gaze away from Kevin as she squeezed her hands uncomfortably.

Kevin noticed the gestures. She could see that Julia sincerely regretted her impulsive action.

"I'm alright, Jule. The wound was not deep, so it will heal in no time. You don't have to worry."

Hearing Kevin's comfort words, Julia dared herself to look up at the young scientist again. "You have saved me, Kev," she whispered weakly. "I almost killed someone, I almost became a murderer. What would happen to my child if they had a murderer as a mother in the future? You have opened my vision, Kev. You have saved me."

Kevin smiled softly at the lady. "That's why I stopped your impulsive action, Jule," he replied. "I was growing up as a son of murderers, and that was a painful memory for me."

Julia was stunned, but she was not the only one who was surprised by Kevin's statement. Kris was also startled to hear the unexpected statement. Kevin's scenario today was completely different from what they had planned before. He didn't know what was on his lover's mind, but he was sure that Kevin's mood turned foul now. It was not acting.

Kris was just about to say something, but Kevin spoke again, "My parents had killed so many people, Jule. And that's a painful memory for me." He sighed for a second, and he continued, "Even though I have tried to forget it, the memory still lingers on my mind. I don't want to see your child experience the same feeling, so I beg you to let Jack go. I don't beg you to forgive him, but I just beg you to let him go for the sake of your child and also Andre."

Julia was speechless. A thin layer of tears started manifesting in her eyes, her vision became a blur, and she couldn't see Kevin's face clearly. It seemed like she was just hit by an unexpected realization.

"You have saved me for real, Kevin," she whispered as a tear dripped from her eye. "I... I didn't think about that. I didn't think about your feeling. I can't imagine if my child was in your position, Kevin."

Kevin smiled wryly at her. "It's okay, Jule," he replied. "My parents had died, and only the pain remains in my heart. To pay for my parents' sin, I promise myself to guard this world against bad people. I will protect this world with all I have, Jule."

Both Julia and Kris were stunned. They just stared at Kevin without saying anything. It seemed like they didn't know how to respond to Kevin's words.

"You are such a good person, Kevin," Julia praised the man in a tone full of admiration. "Andre also had the same dream, so if I can help you with anything, you can tell me, Kev."

Kevin suddenly grinned, leaving no trace of his sadness from before.. Kris beside him was dumbfounded. Was it all Kevin's plan?
