37 Wind Bindings

Organizations related to magic were rare, but not as rare as normal folks might believe. Just in the Porfield Kingdom, the Church of Fire and Church of Light had some acolytes as priests, individuals who could cast spells. They lacked versality, but they were strong nonetheless. Paladins were similar to Drake, allying spells with strong knight cultivation.

The Order, which was the main and oldest religion in the Porfield Kingdom, also possessed druids capable of interacting with nature and tame wild beasts, sometimes even magical beasts. Galan was a living proof of that. However, because most of druids lived as hermits, they didn't have as much influence as others.

The eastern kingdoms possessed monks capable of casting sealing spells and some martial artists integrated mana in their special arts, though it was entirely different from the spell matrixes the regular acolytes cast. Western kingdoms used to have an organization like the Magical Court, even though it was being destroyed by the magical beast invasion. Southern riders had prophets and witches, while northerners tamed magical beasts as mounts.

However, none of them was on par with the Magical Court, which had centuries of legacy and research, as well as 12 magi. In fact, there were rumours about two more magi wandering the lands for research purpose, but no one could confirm these rumours. Enhanced spells were the trademarks of such organizations.

If Drake suddenly spread this enhanced spell, Magus Kayle would be the first one to chase him and torture him for centuries. It was all too valuable after all.

[Wind Bindings – Control type spell – Enhanced Version

Cost – 1 point of mana

Effects - Produce terrifying shackles made of air elemental particles and drain the target's stamina while considerably crippling his movements. Additionally, it deals [Spirit] degrees of damage over time.

Duration – Depends on target's constitution, spirit and strength.]

For a control type spell to not only drain the target's stamina and deal substantial damage over time, it indeed lived up to its name of enhanced spell. With this spell as a trump card, his odds of winning against Franklin had considerably increased.

As expected, Franklin sent him a notice to advance the duel, threatening his family with Count Prio's marching army.

Although his mother was bound by the orders of her council, which was composed of old elven men and women who still abided by the overly xenophobic and restraining elven laws, she would still wage war against a kingdom, if it meant saving her son. Drake never really got to know her because he grew up away from her, but he could always feel her warmth.

Drake didn't plan on being bullied though. If someone attacked you, it was only natural to strike back. Furthermore, his father had the advantage in military might, individual strength as well as possessed the element of surprise. Hence, he agreed to the letter while secretly sending a letter to his father warning him and suggesting to ambush Prio's army.

Just like a snake, he was wearing down his enemies' suspicions and whenever he would have the chance, he would utterly crush his enemies. The Prio Household was nearing its end, while Franklin would be facing a crushing defeat soon enough.

[Beep! Iron Wolf Core consumed! Expected benefits: +0.003 constitution after digestion.]

Eating iron wolf cores on a daily basis, before and after training, Drake's weakened constitution was slowly but surely increasing along with his other attributes. His training regime was barely human. His body was constantly stressed and healed through medicinal herbs, providing benefits and growth that was thrice as fast as normal.

His internal energy seemed to be stuck in a bottleneck, unfortunately, but It was only natural. If internal energy could reach 21 points merely by practicing a grand-knight level breathing technique, there would not be a shortage of Grand Knights within the Porfield Kingdom. They would be as numerous as acolytes, to say the least.

After returning to his room, Drake looked at his status to evaluate his current strength and compare it to Franklin's. He now possessed an enhanced spell, high attributes, as well as a knight killing technique on par with a peak rank 1 acolyte now that he had enhanced it by inspiring himself with Rey's fist knight killing technique.

Since the biochip had finished analysing the spell and he was beginning to master it, Drake ordered it a new task.

'How is the research going?'

[Beep! Enhancement of [Lunar Elven Sword Art] into a Grand-knight level sword art. Progress: 13%. Be aware that ordering fewer auxiliary tasks and gathering more data about knight-level and grand-knight level sword arts will speed up the process]

After a night of rest, Lewis woke him up and said: "It is time, my lord"

Drake's green eyes flickered with fighting spirit.

It was time to crush Franklin.
