Zhou Lei was shocked. His teacher actually sent him... "blackmail material"...
What an extravagant teacher!
.....
At the same time, in Wen Hui's home.
"Ugh... I feel sick..." Wen Hui muttered to herself as she rubbed her forehead. Her face was pale and her eyes were red. It was evident that she was feeling sick.
"What... did I do the whole day?" She tried to recall earlier events but had trouble doing so. The only thing she could remember was the teacher's meeting.
As she was trying to recall, she suddenly felt a surge coming up her throat.
"Blegh!" She rushed to the sink and vomited there.
Looking at herself in the mirror, she started to pity her own appearance. She looked terrible.
"Ugh!" Another feeling rose up her throat as she continued to vomit.
Everyone that had some kind of contact with Zhou Lei, whether it be glancing at him or smelling him, experienced the same thing that Wen Hui was going through right now, albeit to a much lesser extent.
The after-effects of mind control were now taking place.
.....
Zhou Lei finally made it home, avoiding the swarm of people who would've blocked his way had he not taken precautions.
Feeling pretty lucky, he decided to try the lottery out again. The last time, he got a Master Chef Book which, for the most part, benefited him. If only it didn't upgrade his Taste stat as well, then it would have been perfect.
He opened the door, expecting to see his sister sweeping the floor as always. However, contrary to his predictions, she was not there.
"I'm home." He greeted to thin air, hoping that somebody would respond.
"Hmm? Nobody's home?" Zhou Lei got confused. Although, he did not think too much into it and headed straight for his room.
What he did not know was that... both his parents had excused themselves from work to apply Zhou Zhenya to dance practice classes... They wanted her to become an idol!
Zhou Lei lied on his bed and called out System, then opened the lottery interface.
He put in a Lottery Ticket. The roulette started spinning.
"Come on, come on!" He crossed his fingers. Any category other than the Useless category was good!
That was because the Useless category would not only give him a stupidly useless item, it would also crash System, causing him to lose access to it! He did not want this kind of outcome.
The roulette's spin started getting slower and as time went on, it finally stopped.
Ding!
The needle stopped at the Shop Unlock category.
"Woah! Shop Unlock?" Zhou Lei was pretty interested. He knew nothing about this category and was naturally curious about it.
"Unlocked category: Writing." System notified Zhou Lei.
"Writing? Like an author?" Zhou Lei kept asking System, but it wouldn't respond. Eventually, Zhou Lei gave up.
"Hmm..." Zhou Lei searched System's interface and saw a new button that was flashing and glowing, almost as if to attract his attention.
He immediately tapped on it, in his mind, of course. A screen came out of the button with a label named "Shop".
There were several categories in the Shop, but all of them were unlocked with one exception. It was the category that he unlocked earlier, the Writing category.
"Eh... what does writing have to do with me being popular in school?" Zhou Lei questioned System.
"The author wants to be meta." System replied nonchalantly.
"Huh? Author?" Zhou Lei was puzzled.
