Chapter 9 - Beggar

Victoria giggled as she approached Kenzo and wrapped her arms around his waist. He bent down and kissed her top head and they watched Caleb moan and hug the beautiful sofa that Victoria bought.

"Hey, don't you mess with that sofa! That is brand new!" Stacey took the throw pillow and smacked it to his head. He winced and sighed painfully.

"I never fall in love like this. Can I have this sofa?" Caleb asked.

"No!" Victoria frowned at him. "Guys, let's just go to the kitchen. The food is waiting and our milk tea is in the freezer."

They went to the kitchen to eat but then, they decided to go for karaoke. Caleb and Kenzo brought the food to the guest area while Victoria and Stacey are already singing a song. They look free and become hyper because of the milk tea. They are dancing like little girls and Kenzo admired his wife's carefree attitude.

"So, how did you guys get a marriage certificate and license so easy?" Caleb asked.

"I don't know. We just went to the civil affairs and it's done."

"Hmm, Victoria must pay handsome money to those people. But you can check it all if it's legal."

"I already did and it's legal." He told him.

They sat down and watched as the girls sang in front of them.

"I don't understand why she suddenly wants to get married to a stranger," Caleb mumbled. "She's supposed to be in a rich man's arms."

"V said that the man fuck his sister," Kenzo said as he took a glass of wine and poured one for himself and Caleb.

"Hmm, you guys already did the deed?"

"Nope, not yet… I'll let her approach me when she's ready." Kenzo smiled watching Victoria having fun.

"She looked happy," Caleb commented, as his lips turned into a happy curve.

"I want her to be happy."

"And I wonder where our friend Maverick goes."

"I think he's staying at the site," Kenzo told him.

"Hmm," Caleb sipped on the wine. "Take care of Victoria. She's like a little sister." Caleb told him.

"I will, even though you don't have to tell me." Kenzo needs to open up to him about what happened. "Can we talk outside?"

"Yeah, sure."

Kenzo took Caleb to the patio that has a pool and beautiful garden that needs to be taking care of.

"Truthfully, I got fired from my job," Kenzo said quietly.

Caleb frowned.

"What? When?"

"Just a few hours ago. I don't know what to tell Victoria but I have to find a job. Tomorrow, she needs to go back to work, so I'll have to organize a few things before searching for one. Can you help me? Or can you give me a sideline?"

"Of course," Caleb smiled at him. "You guys have been ignoring my help and this time, I'll give you a better job!"

"And what is it?"

"You can be a messenger? Like a delivery guy but working in the office."

"That will do." He smiled at him.

"I'll even lend you a car." Caleb winked. "I trust you man, so sometimes, I send out my secretary to send confidential papers."

"You don't have to lend me a car." Kenzo smiled at him.

"Bro, I will and I would."

They went back inside and Victoria was busy having fun.

Just one mistake and Maverick got kicked out for the thing that he didn't do. He took out his things as he was kicked out from the site for the same thing that they did to Kenzo. He didn't even have money to contact Kenzo but he knew where he lived. Kenzo asked him to stay with him but since he's a prideful person and he didn't want to bother the guy, he stayed in the construction site or slept somewhere else. He got kicked out from the recent place where he stayed because he couldn't pay the rent. Now, he smells bad and he doesn't look good at all. He's also starving and the money from the construction that they gave to him is too little.

He stayed in the same spot to sleep there. He took out the last money that was given to him and hid it in the secure pocket inside his body. He looked like a beggar now. And he's indeed a beggar. Just yesterday a girl came and gave him breakfast. It's the most delicious breakfast he ever had for a very long time.

Back then, he wasn't like this. He lived in a mansion house, servants serve him food and helped him dress up. He also has tutored and he takes various kinds of studies. He's not a dumb person. He sighed and looked at the restaurant across the street. Fancy people coming in and out. His stomach growled. He wanted to have a steak badly. He gulped as he watched people eating burgers and throw half of their eaten burgers into the garbage.

He looked around and approached the garbage but he stopped when more people were coming. A car parked on the corner as a woman came out. She looked frustrated and tired. She also looked familiar. She stared at him for a while and approached him.

"Hey, it's you again." She smiled.

"Uh~~" He stammered.

She sat down and exhaled.

"I'm quite frustrated today and I just wanted to talk." She said to him.

He sat down ignoring the burger on the trashcan. He was two meters away from her.

"What makes you frustrated?" He asked.

"Well, my friend got married to a stranger after her fiance cheated on her with her sister. I just feel frustrated that she make a very stupid decision just when I leave for a moment." She sighed. His stomach growled and she chuckled.

"What do you want to eat?" Stacey asked.

"I~~I don't want to bother you." He mumbled to him.

"I already bothered you." Stacey looked at the restaurant across and told him to wait.

She walked across the road and he frowned when she entered. After a few moments, she came out with a paper bag. She approached him and gave it to him.

"So, why are you sleeping here? You don't seem like someone who would stay in a place like this."

"I~~I got kicked out from the boarding house that I stayed at. I couldn't pay the bills, that's why."

"Hmm, what about work?"

"I recently got kicked out from the site." He told her. He doesn't even know why he's talking to the stranger but the woman helped him before.

"Why?"

Stacey creased her brows.

"The son of the company came to visit and someone almost killed him and his woman and blamed it on me. I mean, I didn't know what happened. I was busy with my work…"

"Oh, crap, why didn't they investigate?" Stacey sounded overwhelmed by his problem.

He shrugged and took the bottle of water and drank on it.

"Thank you so much for the food."

"Yeah, no problem about it." Stacey smiled. "Well, I have to go. I still have work by tomorrow."

He nodded and watched the woman get into her car and left. He smelled the newly cooked steak and rice. He started eating and made sure that he had the taste of it. He hummed and ate more with the rice. Once that he finished his dinner. He threw the empty box and paper bag and took his big bag that contains important things and he started walking around the city thinking of a place to go. But at the moment, he doesn't know where. His phone is dead and he can't even call a single friend.

Just a while ago he went to Kenzo's place but he wasn't there anymore. The landlady claimed that he went off with a rich lady and the ring that he was making at that time came into his mind. Kenzo was in love and it was quick. He sighed.. Well, his friends are too busy at the moment and he didn't know who to call for help or how.
