Chapter 38 - His Queen

Seeing his wife's swollen cheek makes his heartache. If he came sooner, he might have stopped her mother from hitting her. Victoria kept her eyes closed while he's driving back home. He knew that her heart hurt and she's concealing it by closing her eyes because she's afraid to show her weakness to everyone. For him, crying isn't a weakness at all.

Kenzo reached her hand from her lap and squeezed it gently.

"Love, you know that you are a human, and crying is fine."

She gently opened her eyes and turned to him.

"It's okay to cry."

"I'm fine." She mumbled.

"Don't lie to me by saying that you are fine." He sighed and smiled at her patiently. "I am your husband, not a stranger."

She turned to him sideways and held both of his hands, squeezing them and admiring them.

"She said it like I wasn't her child. But, I am not?" She sounds so hurt and sad. "All of my life, I tried hard to please them and every time I did, they rarely noticed. But people always know me for the mistakes that I made. And all of the hard work and good things I did will just be ignored."

"You aren't perfect. And I love you about that." He said as he brought her hand to his lips while driving with one hand. He glanced at the rear mirror and found a motorbike with a sticker of a lion. It only means that his grandfather was still watching over him.

At the thought, Kenzo should forget about that for a while. His wife needed him and she's his priority. Once they reached home, Kenzo told his wife to take a nap while he's taking out all of the expensive stuff that they took from her room. She left a few clothes and her grandmother assured her that everything will be kept neat. He put it all in the living room as he kept thinking.

What if Victoria wasn't a Parson? What if she's an illegitimate child and the mother just took her in for the sake of reputation? And he needs to find it out. Then, he'll have to dig in. He had to know everything about Victoria so he would understand her. So, he would execute a plan to protect her. If everyone in the family detests her for being the bad daughter, then he's more eager to know everything.

"Love," Victoria called. "What do you want to eat?" She asked as she tied her hair up.

"I'll cook."

"No, you are tired from driving. I'll cook."

"Are you sure?"

She grinned at him.

"I'm the wife, I should cook."

"Okay," He approached her and kissed her lips. "Then, what do you want me to do with these things?"

"Hmm, I'll find a buyer tomorrow. I'm sure that Stacey could help me."

"Great. Then, I'll handle it with care."

Victoria stared at the beautiful bags and shoes. She loved them all but she wasn't in a rich family anymore. So, she has to let go of all of those things and stick with the usual brand. It was all the same after all.

"You don't have to sell it." He said.

"Most of it is a limited edition and came from Jason."

"Hmm, then what about those things you left in the house?"

She didn't speak for a while.

"Oh, those are~~" She shrugged and he knew that she's hiding something.

"Tell me."

"Those are old stuff that my sister owns. She didn't like them, so they gave them to me."

"Leftovers?" he asked.

She shook her head and kissed his lips. "I'll cook something quick." She turned back and left.

Once she turned back, Kenzo called the specific number. He went to the study room that he made for himself that was used to be a storage room. After a few rings, the person answered with a greeting.

"Good evening, Lord Kenzo."

"I need information by tomorrow. About my wife." He mumbled. "Put something, maybe a spy in the house to know all about Victoria's childhood. How she was bullied and how they treated her as a Miss of the family."

"Are you sure that you wanted to know, sir?"

"Yes," Kenzo was very determined to know it all. Even though in the end, he'll feel hurt for his wife. "It's the only way to understand her."

"Why not talk to her?"

"She won't speak up and I don't want to stir up her emotions more."

"Yes, my lord."

"Thank you." He hung up and clenched his phone. No one should dare to bully his wife. Even if it's the Emperor or the King. He left his study and went to the kitchen and found her making soup.

"Soup will be enough." He told her and hugged her from behind. "We are both tired and we need lighter foods."

"But, aren't we still on our~~ you know…" She giggled.

"If you insist, I'll add more protein then."

"Okay," She smirked at him.

"I love your smirk." He reached her chin and pressed his lips to her.

He took out a chicken breast from the freezer that has been marinated for a long. He put it on the water. He then starts preparing the vegetables that he'll mix for baking the chicken. She took a soup spoon and a small saucepan. She scooped some soup. She blew it to cool it down and pointed it to him. He sipped on it as the spices exploded in his mouth. Victoria used too many spices.

"Love, it's good but the flavor is too much. We need to eat less sodium and cut the spice at night."

She pouted at him.

"Let's put more veggies to it then and milk."

Then, he took fresh milk from the fridge and poured half a cup on it and she stirred it up until it boiled. Then, she scooped another and gave it to him. He nodded as he raised his thumb for approval. She looked happy with it.

Kenzo's heart always flutters every time she smiles and every time her face blooms in happiness like cherry blossoms rained on her. Like spring in the middle of winter. Expensive things make her happy, but simple things and sincere gestures would make her happier.

After their dinner, she helped with organizing the expensive dresses, shoes, and bags. They wrapped it up carefully after she took photos of it with her camera. She wasn't good with photography but she shot it enough.

"How about we'll send it over to Stacey's house tomorrow and we'll let Maverick take photos?"

"Hmm, yeah, you are right. Maverick took our post-wedding pictorial and it's fascinating!" She rubbed her chin. "Then, can he help me sell it? I'll give him a commission on every product."

"We'll handle it. Just set up the prices." Kenzo knew what he would do next.

They take a quick shower together and make love. She was tired, that's why she fell asleep quickly after their lovemaking. He couldn't sleep at all since there are lots of things running in his head. I sat up and looked down at his sleeping wife. If he leaves the bed, she'll wake up. His wife was always a light sleeper. He only noticed it whenever he wasn't on her side. Maybe it's all they both need. Love. So, both of them could have a good night's sleep as always.

Kenzo was content with this kind of simple life with his wife. But with all of those people who bully her since she came from a rich family, he was eager to come back home and accept everything. It's the only way to pamper his bullied wife and so, she could bully anyone that bullies her.

He reached her hair and caressed it.

It felt like silk. He always loved shoving his face in her hair. He loved the smell and its calming. She opened her eyes to look at him. She blinked twice and her long thick lashes looked like a fan that is made in a feather slowly flapping. He momentarily shook his head thinking that his description is superb. But she's so beautiful and how can they treat her like this? She didn't have a foul attitude and she's kind. Why does she suffer in emotional pain from that family?

"Kenzo…"

"Yes, love? "

"I'm happy that you are with me. I'm happy that you didn't leave me."

He lifted the duvet as he moved between her legs. Then, he caged her in his arms.

"Why do you think I would leave you?"

"I don't know… maybe if someone more beautiful, sexier, and richer woman offers you… I'm afraid that you'll leave me for her."

He chuckled.

"Love, even if she's the King's daughter, I wouldn't leave you for such a low reason."

"Really?" Her eyes beam and so does her smile.

"Yes, I can make you a Queen if you want." He grinned.

"I already feel like a Queen… like right now… in your arms."

"Good. Because there's no way that I would love anyone else but you… oh, but I think there will be little ones that I will love."

She giggled and wrapped her arms around his muscular body.

"I'm relieved."

"Stop thinking about those things, Victoria.. I'm yours."
