Chapter 96 - In His Arms

Caleb never had a good sleep in his life but to have the woman he loved in his arms. He woke when he felt that she left the bed. He opened his eyes and smiled.

"Good morning." He said softly.

"Morning." She reached for her robe. "I have to leave."

He watched as she left and he just wished that she wouldn't leave the bed early. He slipped off from the bed and went to the bathroom. He ignored his needs for her. He doesn't want to crush her trust. He took a bath quickly and checked the suit that he needed to wear. He went downstairs and found the girls preparing breakfast. Stacey seemed to look well like nothing happened. He approached Stacey and kissed her temple.

"So, are you preparing my favorite?"

"Nah. I am preparing my food." She said coldly.

"Here," Kaisley extended the plate. He stared at the food that she made, full of protein and then a glass of fruit shake. "We have an appointment with Lady Vivien and Harriet later."

"Oh," Caleb nodded

"It'll be in the afternoon." She said. "I'm leaving early since I have to go to the station for my statement."

"I'll go."

Stacey was only quiet as she observed the two. The way they talk was like before. She knew that they were still into each other and Kenzo played well on making them meet. But somehow it's a tragedy too since Caleb witnessed how she suffered from a miscarriage and on being abused. Somehow, the two will find each other again and heal each other. Stacey was happy for them.

"I will quit alcohol now," Stacey said to interrupt them.

"That's good," Kaisley said as she poured the smoothie from the blender and gave it to Stacey.

"I have to cleanse and move on." She added.

"Oh, Stace! I will beat up Maverick for you." Caleb said. She only smiled and shook her head.

He felt bad for his little sister. Maverick knew that this would happen and yet he made her fall in love with him. The three of them have separate ways.

Stacey drove her car to her office to take a few things so she could work from home. Somehow, their office offered them to work from home, and from now on, she'll take her three days credits for that. She also needs to start saving money for her future baby. She just wished that her plan would work. It's the only way too since she never thought of getting married to anyone but Maverick. Somehow, the man she loved will marry someone else. A noble or a royal. It's the only option for him since she's not either of the two.

She filed a three days work from home and leave for the date that Victoria mentioned to her. Then, she packed the documents that she needed and put them in her car. Finally, she went to the Hotel where they were staying and the maid greeted her and escorted her to Victoria and Kenzo's residential floor.

"Rich kid." She mumbled.

Caleb followed Kaisley to the police station as they begged her to stop it. He watched them through the camera that was in the body of her bodyguard. Kaisley didn't just file charges to the abusive husband but also the half-sister. She can put the adulterers behind the bars and it's also stated in the law. She only looked at them coldly as the man begged.

"Kaisley, darling. Don't do this. I'll be good to you." He begged.

"You should've said that before you raped me, abused me, and let your mistress kill my baby."

"How would I even know that it's my baby?" he gritted his teeth. "I am sterile!"

"Bastard," She scoffed. "I already spoke to the women you fucked and impregnated. Three of them were positive that it was your baby." She bent down. "I never thought that you could beg like this. You should have done that before." She smirked as she stood straight and walked off.

He also watched as Kaisley said everything including how she should escape from her husband. She was sincere and even the police who were interviewing her could feel her story. The judge already moved the hearing this week and it won't take long too. His phone started ringing and so, he reached it and listened to his secretary.

"I'll be there." He hung up and after Kaisley was done, her father met her up and grabbed her. But her bodyguards covered her as the father who sold her off was screaming at her. "He doesn't deserve Kaisley to be his daughter." He gritted his teeth. He saw the hurt in Kaisley's eyes although she's trying to conceal it. He started the car to leave the station.

The time that he reached the office, he didn't expect to have his father as his guest.

"Father," He greeted as he gestured to the sofa. His father remained standing as he looked at the certificates that he received through the years of hard work.

"I never expect you to be this ambitious." He said and he reached the picture frame on his table. "And you still have her in your mind?"

Caleb glanced at the picture frame. His photo with Kaisley is a close-up.

"That woman was dirty yet you still want her?"

"Don't you ever call her dirty!" Caleb glared at his father. "She's not dirty. I was the first one to have her and I don't care if there's another. But Kaisley is not dirty and I dare you to say it again."

"This isn't how I raised you, Caleb." His father said calmly.

"Yes, this isn't how you raised me. And I am happy that I left home. You see, Samara wasn't just a woman. She ruined my relationship with Kaisley. You and mom ruined it. And now, she has to deal with a monster for two years because of what you did."

His father threw the frame across the wall.

"I will never accept that dirty woman into our family!"

"I never expect you to accept her." Caleb scoffed. "It's not like I am part of the family. I can change my name after what you did."

He expected his father to punch him but he received a crisp slap. He stood still and faced his father.

"You are full of yourself. Let's see how your business goes without me."

Caleb wasn't that desperate. He had big friends now.

"I already paid you off, father. There are no negotiations now."

Caleb walked past him and sat down on his swivel chair. He rings the secretary.

"Please escort Mr. Tanner out." He said coldly as the secretary opened the door.

His father faced him.

"You'll regret this, Caleb." His father threatened him and walked out.

His father might be bluffing but his heart has been stabbed by thousands of knives after he called the woman he ever loved in his life~dirty. He stood and picked up the broken pieces as he took their photo. He smiled at Kaisley in that photo. She looked happy and lively. He wanted to see her like that again but he didn't know-how. She changed a lot and she grew stronger than before. Still, he admired her.

He sighed and looked at the papers on his table. He pulled out his phone from the pocket of his coat and called Kaisley. He misses her quickly and he doesn't want her to think that he's taking advantage of her situation. He wanted Kaisley to know the truth. He wanted her to trust him again.

"Hello?" Kaisley picked it up.

"K, I'm currently in my office. I won't be able to accompany you."

"It's alright. I'm going back to the hotel since we have a fitting of gowns later."

"Take care," Caleb said.

"You should take care too, Caleb."

"Okay. I'm going to hang up now." He waited for one second and then he hung up. He breathed heavily as he looked down at the photo. He looked so young and she was too. They were foolishly in love with each other until she thought that he betrayed her.

He called someone to clean up the mess as he took the picture to his table and ordered another frame from his secretary. He opened his computer and checked the emails from the Etrama Empire. He never thought that Kenzo could be bold in business. Everything in the proposal that he's been preparing was highlighted. He needs to redo it again. He can't entrust it to anyone in his employee but Maverick.

He replied to Kenzo's email.

"Thanks, my dear Kenzo for noticing the mistakes," Caleb said as he typed it fast.

He started with the documents first and although his head was aching, he continued working.

"Sir," His secretary called and he didn't notice that she knocked on the door. "The Chairwoman of Etrama Corporation is here."

"Let her in." He stood quickly and tidied up.

He watched as Kaisley entered his office and she looked around. She lifted a tea and paper bag.

"You had your headache?" She asked.

His heart melted by seeing her. It's like the old times. Kaisley would know that he would have headaches or if he's hungry.

"I bought this from the Marquess's Tea House." She approached him and Caleb couldn't hold himself as he hugged her, inhaled her scent, and closed his eyes. "I was only passing by and I will collect a few documents that Kenzo needed."

He pushed himself and smiled.

"I'm sorry. I just missed your warmth."

Kaisley looked up at him with those shining eyes.

"I never feel warm in my life." She mumbled.. They were both staring at each other for a long and it's too late for Caleb to realize.
