Chapter 126 - Duchess On Duty

It's her first day on Duchess Duty. Although her husband didn't want her to do lots of things, Victoria was already aware that a Duchess's Duty was to the people. However, there are thousands of people in Westeria. Her husband was busy on his first day. She was limited to her work and she had to nap two times a day. But, she will excuse me from nappy at ten in the morning.

At nine, she helped with preparing the snacks that her husband liked and wanted. She visited him in his office and seeing the piles of paper made her heartache a little. He looked up at her and smiled brightly. She served him coffee with his favorite egg sandwich with ham and lettuce. He stood quickly, hugged her, and gave her lots of kisses on the cheeks.

"You shouldn't tire yourself."

"I don't want to lay down all day. I need some exercise and I am better."

"Love, just a few days ago you puked a lot and almost collapsed every time."

"I'll nap later." She rubbed his chest. "I've been neglecting my husband for days." She sneered at him.

"You didn't." He kissed her forehead.

"Take a break and I will prepare this special sandwich for you."

He looked at the papers and nodded as he followed her to the sofa. They sat down close to each other as she took the plate of sandwiches that were plated palatable. He took a bite and hummed.

"This is more delicious than before."

"What do you mean?" She sneered.

"You poured more love into this." He said. She giggled and hugged him.

"I just researched to make a twist on it. So, I add chives a little."

"I love it. It's making that plain taste of mayo and egg away. Some don't like chives but I like chives."

"Also," She gave the coffee to him. "I will prepare your water. I put lots of peppermint in it. I just noticed that they have a lot of herbs here."

"Yes, my mom loves planting them and using them for cooking."

"Then, I will use it and take care of it too."

"Thank you." Kenzo was more in love with her. She's trying hard to be a perfect wife for him while he's trying hard to be perfect for her.

Although both of them are very much satisfied with each other, Kenzo and Victoria are still competing to become that perfect spouse. They give love and care to each other a lot. None neglect the other. Kenzo's view of marriage is like his father's view or his grandfather's. He saw how they love each other without being selfish.

"I think that maybe next week, I should start with my real duty."

"You should take a break more," Kenzo said.

"Babe, I can't just sit and do nothing."

"How about writing?"

Victoria stopped for a while as she thought about it. Her passion was writing and somehow, she forgot about it after she became a housewife. There are a lot of things that happened. Lots of stressful things that she forgot about.

"Or it'll give you a headache." He smiled. "Love, you can do anything and let others do the other job. You are the Duchess. All you do is command and live comfortably. Okay?"

"I want to be the best Duchess for you, if not for the citizens."

"You are already the best for me." He caressed her hair.

"You always shower me with those sweet words." She giggled and joined him with the little snack.

Victoria puts it all in the dinner cart as the maids take it away. She stayed a little with her husband on the balcony as they watched the colorful butterflies perching from one flower to another. Then, Kenzo kissed her as Victoria let him work. She went to her very own office just close to the kitchen and stock room. So, it'll be easy for her to check everything.

"Duke Kenzo already set up the month's budget and schedule." The Butler said. "Would you like to add something?"

She checked the thick lists. She knows how to do office work but she felt a little lazy by just looking at it. However, she should motivate herself to work on it. She scanned it and searched for the things that were needed.

"If you like, I already had the copies sent to your new email?" Butler suggested.

"That's great." She smiled and checked her computer as there were a couple of emails of purchases and all. They kept the receipts and even have a copy of them. Everything was already organized and she thought that it's easy to handle. "Thank you." She smiled and checked the things that Kenzo loved. But mostly, it's all the dishes and ingredients for the food that she loved. "The Duke set up these ingredients?"

"Yes, Madam."

"Let me add something."

She listed down things that she wanted and gave them to the Butler.

Stacey wanted to stay in the hotel but the Duchess wanted her to stay in the Thunder Lily Castle. Her heart still ached. Although Maverick contacted her, the urge of seeing him increased. She hoped that he would show up but he didn't. She locked her room all afternoon and never came out. But today, she needed to go to Victoria's Castle and she even bought a fresh fruit tea for her breast friend.

Since she has the VIP card for the Tea House, they packed her package carefully and she even bought a cooler bag to keep her cool for a long time. The Tea House was just a few kilometers from the castle and it's a long drive to the castle and they have a lot of security. But they already confirmed her identity and she also had bodyguards who picked her up in her hotel room.

Caleb was at Kaisley's mansion probably making babies or whatnot. And Stacey wouldn't feel alone when she's with Victoria. She could stay for days with Victoria and help her with things since Kenzo was busy. She knew how the pressure that Victoria was feeling and she wanted to be there for her best friend who was always there for her.

She smiled as her eyes gaped to beautiful trees.

"This is where Kenzo grew up?" She was so surprised and excited. On the main entrance, Kenzo and Victoria is waiting outside with butlers holding umbrellas for them.

It's so hot since it's summer and she smiled seeing Victoria who was already smiling while the car was slowly turning around the fountain. The door opened to her and she came out gracefully as the Duke and Duchess went down the stairs to greet Stacey. She curtsied as the girls giggled and they hugged each other. Kenzo also hugged her in a friendly way.

"How's the way here?" Kenzo asked.

"It's great." Stacey took the ice cooler from the car and grinned at Victoria.

"You are spoiling me already." Victoria laughed as they entered. Then, Kenzo escorted them to Stacey's room, the one that Victoria set up which is just close to her room.

"Ladies, enjoy." Kenzo kissed Victoria's forehead. "My wife needs to nap too."

"Yes, sure thing. Kenz."

Stacey said and they watched as Kenzo reached the door.

"Meet you guys at seven."

The girls nodded and when Kenzo finally left, Victoria quickly rummaged to the cooler and took the clear glass bottle, and smiled at the real fruits that were cut into little pieces so she could sip on the big straw like a boba drink. She sticks it in and hummed on it. She sat down on the sofa with lots of fruits and food in front of them.

"This is beautiful!" Stacey exclaimed. "This is my room?"

"You are always welcome here. This is your permanent room." Victoria said. "I always want to live with you, Stacey. Have a slumber party all night long. But I didn't expect to get married right away."

Stacey burst into laughter as she reached for her drink.

"You are very much so into your husband. I can't blame you. You married a good husband. You married someone you deserve. Now, look at the things he gave to you." Stacey looked around.

"I don't care about these luxury things. The most important to me is my husband. He never hurt me." Victoria said with those big smiles.

"Hmm, did Jason hurt you? I am getting suspicious here. You are always quiet and take things for yourself."

Victoria didn't answer as she sipped on her tea.

"Victoria." Stacey frowned, and her frown always made Victoria give up.

"He hit me once. He was a little drunk and~~yeah, he said sorry to me right after and hugged me and said that he loves me. That was the past."

"The fuck!" Stacey mumbled and reached the pillow and hit Victoria's arm. "Why didn't you tell me, bitch?"

"I'm sorry. I was so in love and realized that it was a scam." She sipped on her fruit tea again with a smile. "I am happy that I didn't marry him."

Stacey pouted.

"I'm happy that you didn't marry him too."

"Let's eat first and I'll tour you around. The former Duchess has Kenzo's baby photos."

"Oh, I'd like to see it!" Stacey exclaimed.

"Wait a moment. I'll get it."

Victoria excitedly went to her room and took out the basket which had Kenzo's photo album. When she went back to Stacey's room, the two of them flipped through the photos of the album. Stacey was flipping at Kenzo's young age while Victoria was to baby Kenzo.

"These are photos from the gala," Stacey said. "Look, is this you?"

Victoria peeked at it and stared at the young girl who was wearing recycled Katarina's old gowns. It was simple but her grandmother made it a little stylish with real diamond earrings, a little tiara, and a bracelet.

"That's me…" She mumbled.
