Chapter 156 - Secrets Of The Palace

Kenzo received a message that there's an unidentified box outside that was meant for the new groom and bride. He comes out quickly with Maverick as they have their wives in the party guarded. Maverick had his robot always as they checked that thing far away from the civilians. He operates the robot by scanning it and finally opening it. Instead of metals that might make a bomb, it's somewhat a letter.

Kenzo put surgical gloves on as he inspected if there were other things in the box. When he found nothing else, he opened the letter.

Congratulations on the new couple. I hope they last longer and stay in the castle… for long.

"Oh come on, not on Cal's very special day," Maverick grumbled. His phone chimed and he checked on where it was located. "I'll find this one," Maverick told him.

"Yeah, go on with that."

The letter was put in a briefcase after checking if there's a device attached to it. Then, the box was also searched after removing the shredded special papers. Then, the two Dukes went back inside to do their duty as the groomsmen. At the time that they reached the hall, Caleb quickly rushed to them.

"What's going on?" He asked.

"Nothing to worry about." Maverick patted his arm. "Well, let's enjoy this party."

Caleb shrugged.

"My fiancee~~I mean, my wife is so tired with that big gown and shoes… I'm going to escort her to her room to change her dress."

"Yeah, you should do that." Kenzo and Maverick nodded. He then looked at his wife who was busy entertaining the two old men who were so fond of her. Even Stacey had her phone to show it to Edgar and Philip. It's nice seeing them looking young whenever they laugh. He wondered if they would have grandchildren running around, they might look even younger and stronger.

"Okay, boys. Here's the thing." Caleb signed them to come closer as they moved closer to him. "I can't get into politics and all I want is business and my wife, so can you cover up for me?"

"Yeah, sure." Mave and Kenzo nodded as Caleb shook both hands. Then, Caleb exhaled slowly. He's been suffocated with this crowd.

"You are a celebrity, dude." Mave teased as Caleb waved them off and went back to his wife and escorted her out.

The people started eating their food and chatted with anyone. Kenzo was aware that there were lots of couples who came his way and after greeting his duchess, they would ignore her. She would feel uncomfortable as they spoke business. They kept mentioning the bidding. It'll be also next month. Everyone wanted to get that building since it's good for business.

Victoria was completely out of place. They know about her identity as an illegitimate child. She started overthinking but whenever her husband stroked her back and held her hand, she felt secure. She somehow smirked inside her head as she thought that her husband would mistreat them too. But the couple insisted again and this time, Kenzo declined them politely.

"Are you tired?" Kenzo asked as those nobles and elites kept coming to her and women would come to him whenever she's with her friends or grandmother.

"Yeah," She said and covered her mouth to yawn. She's been forcing herself not to yawn a lot but it made her teary.

"I'll take you to our room," Kenzo mumbled.

"It's fine." She shook her head. "We'll go together and sleep together. I'll join you a little."

"Are you sure?" He already could see how tired she was but she's insisting that her shoulders should be straight and she would walk with grace. "Granddads have already retired to their rooms. Also, grandma." He rubbed her shoulders. "You are cold too." He looked at Victoria's assistant, Pauline who quickly left to get her something warm to drink. Then, Kenzo removed his coat and put it on her.

"Thank you." She smiled at him as Kenzo winked and took her to the groom and bride who looked so tired. Caleb even complained that his feet already smell bad.

"Well, that's what a Prince should be," Kenzo whispered to him. "Training is really hard. I used to break rules a lot too."

"And can I break some simple rules?" He asked as he tried to reach something scratchy at his back. If it wasn't for Kaisley who is now his wife, he would feel completely desperate.

"Yeah sure," Kenzo said and looked down at the wristwatch. "It's time to throw the bouquet."

They waited until the party ended with the bride throwing the bouquet and it was caught by Harriet who surely pushed herself to catch it. Then, she received a hug from Kaisley. That's when Kenzo escorted her to their room. It was a long walk. That's why Victoria removed her shoes and walked bare feet while holding his hand. Their bodyguards and her assistant that made it to the wedding followed them.

"Let me carry you." He suggested.

"Love, I know that you are tired."

"I'm not." He said and they stopped walking and he carried her upstairs. She flushed a little but she wrapped her arms around him quickly.

Kenzo was a little breathless after reaching their room. He gently put her on the bed and slumped with her. She giggled and caressed his forehead.

"I told you not to carry me." She slipped off from the bed and helped him undress. Then, she kissed his naked abdomen and went to the bathroom to prepare their bath.

Kenzo still has an appointment with Mave, Cal, King Edgar, and Prince Philip, also together with Empress. They gave them two hours. Firstly, they have to make sure that all of the guests made it outside the castle. He had a hot bath with his wife and gave her a foot massage. He already told her that he had a meeting and so, she wished to wait. But she was so tired that she fell asleep.

He also felt tired but he dragged his body down the conference hall using an electric scooter so it'll be fast to get there. At the time that he reached the conference hall, they entered through the secret door to hold a meeting. And down there, the Empress was already waiting.

"Hey, pips." He greeted them and sat down.

They started with Caleb's presentation in a hologram way. Since Stacey was provided with something great, she's the one who designed the building like a real architect. Stacey also studied architecture before she became a cartoonist. Her passion was drawing stories but she's also a great architect. That's why her parents don't like the idea of her becoming a cartoonist of some company. She was an architect back then, but the workplace became toxic as she was fired because of the thing that was set up for her.

Now, she designed a multi-million company building that would be present in front of the ministers.
