Chapter 173 - Faith And Loyalty

They should be in bed right now. But Victoria chose to serve her husband some tea since he's currently busy in his office while still wearing the suit from the wedding. There were lots of phone calls about the bombing of the Pilo Jail District. Seven guards were dead and over twenty prisoners were dead as well. The bomb came from the rooms where the Kennedys are. They determined that they might be dead.

"Anything sweet?" Victoria asked.

"Yes, thanks love."

Victoria went to the fridge that she could only access. She's the one who set it there and she always puts desserts and other foods for her husband. She took out the slice of ice cream mango cake and put it on the tray with the fork. She approached him and fed him while he's typing furiously on the keyboard and cursed.

"Did you find anything?" Victoria asks while he's searching for the cameras covered in that area however, there's none.

"I already backed up the other recordings from the day on," Kenzo said and reached his tea as he took a sip. "They are on the run. They knew that we were monitoring his family."

"They probably wouldn't care if they gave their family a heart attack." Victoria fed him again. He hummed and nodded at it.

"This is amazing."

"I baked it."

Kenzo stopped and looked up at her with those shining eyes.

"Give me a kiss."

She bent down and kissed his lips.

"You are amazing, my love." He whispered.

"Focus on your work so we can sleep." She told him as he nodded submissively and looked at the other monitor where the empress was online.

"Does Belmont have something to do with this?" She suddenly asked, which made Kenzo and Vanessa puzzled. "I always saw them on the phone or smartwatch. Then, I was passing by when I heard the firstborn speaking to someone over the phone. Like: Is everything ready? Make sure that they are safe." Victoria shrugged. "Something like that."

"Love that's dangerous!" Kenzo said.

"It is indeed dangerous, Duchess."

"I acted like I didn't hear him so…" She shrugged.

"Then, we will watch over Vince Belmont," Kenzo said. "His every move."

"I'll work on it," Vanessa said. "Did you back up the recordings?"

"Yes," Kenzo answered.

"We will review it by tomorrow. Also, make sure that the investigators are there." Vanessa added.

"Copy that. Already working on it and my loyal knight already sent me words."

"Alright," Vanessa turned her swivel chair to Butler Armin. Then she faced the camera. "Good night, your graces."

"Good night, your highness," Victoria said and the Princess hung up.

Kenzo took his phone and sent out Secretary Bryan to check on it. It's already all over the news and they are responding.

"I should go there," Kenzo said and yawned.

"Then, I'll go with you." She gave me the cake. "I'll just dress up."

"Okay." He nodded and continued eating the cake that his wife made for him.

He turned off his computer and locked the important documents on the drawers. Then, in a few moments, his wife came with a jacket, polo shirt, denim jeans, and rubber shoes. He was living in comfort with his wife. He stood and removed his shirt and pants to change with the clothes that his wife brought.

"Aren't you tired?" he asked. "It's already midnight."

"No. Your duty is my duty. I want to make sure that you are safe."

"Wait, did we just change roles?" he grinned at her. "I am the one who should have said that." He tucked in his shirt and put his belt on.

"Hubby, I know that you are tired and so am I. I might not be able to sleep because I will be worried about what you'll go through in that District." She fixed his collar and reached his cheeks. "I can't live without you."

"Baby," he reached both of her cheeks and kissed her forehead. "I felt the same. Let's go so we can rest early. But it'll be a long ride."

He made sure that his office was locked as he left and used a four-by-four bulletproof car. He drove it by himself as two cars followed them. Kenzo glanced at his wife and smiled.

"Don't worry. This won't take long." He promised her. "I want you to stay in this car when we get there."

It took three hours when they reached the Pilo Jail District. It was between Marduque and Westeria. It was supposed to be a five hours drive but since there's not much traffic, they reached the Pilo Jail District and found emergency cars lined up. Victoria stayed inside the car and one bodyguard, the one that he always assigned to her stayed outside the car to guard her. She bit her lip as Kenzo had three bodyguards with him while the two were guarding her. She exhaled slowly as the Chief of the District bowed to Kenzo.

They saw a lot of injured prisoners and there were lots of people in the front lawn lying on the grass and had their bodies covered.

Kenzo looked at Secretary Bryan who rushed to him and gave him the hard disk. Kenzo took it and put it inside the pocket of his jacket. The media was currently just outside. They had it covered as they didn't let anyone go across the yellow tape. Kenzo entered the yellow tape as he went inside with bodyguards and Secretary Bryan.

He went to the reception and checked the details. Each of the guards will be investigated as well. He wanted to make this quick as he spoke personally Chief who was recently a Commander from the Eagle Knight of the Royal Empire. He retired from being a Commander because he failed to protect the Royal Family. But instead of banishing him, the King gave her a big role as the Chief.

"Chief Vandenberg, I am sure that few guards were involved in this. Even though they might claim that those three people from Kennedy are dead. I still want you to look closely. I am sure that they use those dead bodies to escape."

"Yes, your grace." Chief Vandenberg bowed his head.

"Thank you." Kenzo shook his hand. "My wife is waiting, I have to go."

"Yes, sir."

Kenzo left the office as his headaches a little bit. He needs to sleep. He went back to their car as the media approached them but the bodyguards and police covered them as Kenzo opened the driver's seat. Victoria sighed in relief and he smiled at her.

"Let's rent a hotel from here."

"You look pale." She reached his cheeks. "Let me drive."

"No, I'm fine."

"Kenz, if you collapse, we'll both be dead." Kenzo nodded as Victoria adjusted her seat and she crawled over Kenzo. Then, Kenzo moved to her seat. She turned on the car and rolled the window a little as one of the bodyguards moved closer. "Lead the way. We will stay in the nearest hotel."

"Yes, Madam."

Victoria followed the car. They ended up in one of the luxury hotels that Welch owns. She hates to check in but then, Secretary Bryan already booked for their stay. It's a good thing that Victoria always packed up overnight clothes in the car. She stopped in front of the hotel as the valet came. The door opened for them and Kenzo came out first while Victoria was reaching for her purse.

Two of their bodyguards approached them to escort them.

"Let's go?" Kenzo extended his hand as Victoria reached it. They walked inside followed by three bodyguards, holding their overnight bags. They went to the counter as the receptionist smiled at them and bowed their heads.

"Duke and Duchess, your presidential room is ready." The receptionist said as Victoria reached two cards. She gave the other to their bodyguard.

"Thank you." Victoria smiled at the receptionist.

Kenzo put his arms on her shoulder and leaned closer, clinging like an accessory. Then, the elevator opened as their bodyguards escorted them to the Presidential Suite that has three rooms. The master's bedroom and two spare rooms. Victoria took Kenzo to their room and reached the bag from their bodyguard. She put it on the table and helped her husband undress and had him brush his teeth. To her surprise, they have good quality toothpaste and toothbrushes.

"Here, brush your teeth." She said and gave the toothbrush to him. He started brushing his teeth lazily.

"Babe, can you please take out the disk from my jacket?" He spits the foam as Victoria quickly went to his jacket and took out a few items. She put the disk in her purse and she organized their clothes. Her husband came out and she gave him the boxer shorts as he put them on and climbed on the bed.

She washed up quickly, undressed, leaving a new pair of underwear, and snuggled to her husband.

"I love you," Kenzo mumbled and yawned. She pulled the sheets and hugged him.

"I love you, Kenzo."

"This is your ex's hotel." He said.

"Yeah, the other hotel was far away and this is the nearest. We won't stay here for long so sleep now, baby." She kissed his forehead as Kenzo quickly fell asleep. "My poor hubby."

Victoria closed her eyes but then, a knock on the door made her open it again. She gently slipped off from Kenzo's embrace and she put her robe on. She opened the door slightly.

"Your Grace, I apologize for interrupting but the manager is here."

"Since he's here, please request a Do Not Disturb sign on the door."

"Yes,"

"The Duke needs to rest."

"Yes, your grace. I apologize once again." He bowed his head.

"You can also have your sleep now." She closed the door, locked it, and stretched her arms. She removed her robe, climbed up on the bed, and cuddled to her husband.

"What was that?" he asked.

"Just the manager."

"Fuck them." He mumbled and shoved his face to her bare breast. "They shouldn't disturb us further."

"Don't worry. I handled it.." Victoria smiled and pulled the sheets.
