Harriet was currently walking in the garden just to have her therapy walk. Her mind was a mess after that night. She slept well with Kane beside her. She even felt his breathing and heard his heartbeat. It was the most magical sleep she ever had. Now, it's getting quite dark and she heard that they continue with the training. She exhaled slowly. Somehow, she needed to go out and work, but her father forbade her after the encounter with that intruder.
"Lady Harriet," a familiar voice called and she turned around.
"Kane, what's up?" Somehow, she had this dirty thought right now. He looked messily hot and four of his buttons were down. She had a peeked on his sexy chest. She eyed it a little and looked back at his handsome face. His baby blue eyes even camouflage with the night, as his hair seemed to stand out.
"I'll meet you at dinner. I also have to escort you to Westeria Palace tomorrow."
"Yes," she nodded at him. She approached him and patted his chest. "So, did my father threaten you to be my escort?"
"Yes." He grinned at her. "I can take care of this beautiful brat."
She scoffed and rolled her eyes. Kane carefully reached a few strands of her hair as he bent down and kissed it.
"I'll see you at dinner?"
Harriet never felt her cheeks heated up. Her lips apart, gaping at his actions.
"S-See you at dinner." She cleared her throat and Kane smiled at her and waved as he walked away. "Breath," She mumbled to herself as she reached her chest. In an odd feeling, it felt quite heavy and her body wanted to move by itself. Her body just wanted to make an impulsive move toward Kane because of the damn attraction. "Damn it." She grumbled.
She went back to her room and fixed herself a little. She put a little pinkish color on her lips.
"Miss," Her handmaiden knocked on the door.
"Okay." She said and quickly stood. She stared at herself in the mirror and nodded. Her hair is perfect and everything. She went downstairs and found everyone settled. Her brother also came fresh from the bath and looked at Kane who looked also fresh from the bath and wearing nice home clothes. They dined with Kane's family. She glanced at Kane many times and her heart responded the same from a while ago.
She exhaled and sat down gracefully. They prayed before their meal as it was served to them. Then, she started eating gracefully. She caught Kane looking at her and he only smiled at her.
"So, did you accept Belmont's invitation?" Hardin asked Harriet.
"I turned them down, thanks to you." She rolled her eyes to show that she's annoyed at her brother. But there's also another person that she wanted to make jealous.
"Uhuh, ungrateful brat," Hardin mumbled as Harriet gave her a daggering glare.
"I'll deal with you later."
After a splendid dinner, they all have their separate ways. Since the boys have their talks and her mom will have a conversation with Mrs. Sparrow, she just went on her own as she walked and picked flowers to her room. She wanted a new scent and she didn't know how long she stayed but when she turned around she gasped after seeing a man in front of her. She frowned at him and groaned.
"You are so annoying."
"Did I scare that much? Does my face look scary?" he asked and patted her head.
"I was just surprised because I didn't hear you coming."
"I got my ninja skills too, baby girl."
She looked past behind him to check if Hardin was anywhere.
"Hardin went off to bed. He's too tired from a while ago."
"And you don't look tired."
"I have pretty good stamina." He grinned at her and that made her laugh. "So, why are you picking up flowers in the middle of the night?"
"I just want to have a new scent in my room."
"Hmm, I'll stay with you." He told her as he turned back to pick another flower. Somehow that made her utterly surprised. She felt her heart doing that crazy thing again. She followed him and watched him cut a rose using his pocket knife. "I cut this well and the stem can~" He stood and before he finished his sentence, she handed him the lavender rose. He didn't take it and so she gently tucked it in the pocket of his coat. Then, she reached the red rose from his hand and she started walking toward the love seat.
Kane followed her and tucked his knife into his pocket. He smiled as he followed her.
"You said that you'll stay with me, I want to watch the stars for a little bit."
"Sure," he tucked the rose back into his pocket and she sat on the love seat. He sat down with a space between them.
Harriet looked up at the clear skies that had millions of stars. There's no moon currently and, amazingly, the stars are this visible and beautiful. It was silent between them for a long.
"So, are you going back to the Royal Castle?" She asked and looked at him on her left side.
"Hmm, I don't have any accuracy about my expedition."
She giggled and turned her body slightly toward her.
"You aren't going to war, dummy."
He laughed and reached her head.
"Are you supposed to sleep now so you could grow tall?"
She scoffed.
"Hey, I'm already 23 and it'll be hard for me to grow taller." She reached his hand from her head and held it. "Does your mother already set a woman for you to marry?"
"Hmm, I don't know. Arranged marriage isn't popular nowadays."
"You are right. Even dad doesn't want to marry me off to some family." She sighed. "I like that idea."
He moved closer to her and reached her cheeks.
"Now you look sad because you don't have a boyfriend despite having a lot of suitors?" he grinned at her and flicked her forehead. She hissed and slapped his hand away.
"That's painful!" she pouted at him. He only laughed as he pulled the back of her head and kissed the spot that he flicked. He pressed his lips harder and for a long time.
"Is it gone?" He asked and rubbed the spot that he flicked.
"It's your fault, now you are worried." She snorted at him.
At that sparkling moment, she didn't want him to withdraw his hand from her body. She wanted more of it and it's crazy that she's asking for it.
"Harriet," he called and stared at her beautiful lips. It was apart and she looked up at him. "Do you~Do you mean to date someone from Belmont?"
She snorted.
"Of course, not." She grinned at him. "Do you want to date me?"
Somehow, he was taken aback. He stared at her for a while and then he carefully reached his cheeks. His heart was also having that loud thump. Like it was a bass drum.
"Lady Harriet!" Her handmaiden called and Kane quickly pulled away from her and stood.
"You should go back," Kane told her. "Good night."
Harriet's hand quickly reached the hem of his coat. He stopped from taking any steps and he turned to her. She stood and closed the space between them. She tiptoed and kissed his cheeks.
"Good night." She turned back and faced the handmaiden who came from the maze of bushes.
"There you are, Milady. You need to sleep now. It will be a long drive to Westeria."
"I'll be there."
The handmaiden curtsied gracefully.
"Lord Kane,"
Kane nodded and Harriet followed her handmaiden.
Kane exhaled slowly as he grinned. He somehow looked happy. He looked like he was struck by a cupid. His hand skimmed the rose as he held the stem. Then, he started walking to their house nearby. He smelled the lavender rose. The time that he reached the house, he quickly went to his room and put the rose on an empty vase, and filled it with water.
"Harriet," he sighed her name as he started stripping his clothes. "What do you want me to do?" he grumbled and slouched on the bed.
He closed his eyes hard as he thought of how her lips pressed on his cheeks. He wanted it on his lips. He wanted it so badly. He went to the bathroom and brushed his teeth. He was even careful not to wash the spot where she pressed her lips. He quickly put his pajamas on and went to bed. But he turned to the vase on his side table and smiled at the lavender rose.
Now, he remembered. Every rose color has its symbol and he has to search for the lavender one. But he's sure that she had picked it up randomly.
"The beautiful rose of the Astera Family." He mumbled. "If she knew that she's the first woman that I love, would she date me?" Then he thought of her question a while ago before the handmaiden interrupted. "Do you want to date me?" He whispered. "I want it so badly.." He answered that question although Harriet wasn't around to hear it.
