I slowly approach the door, and the moment I try to knock on the door I hear Jen talking to someone. Unaware of when she'd finish, I call her name.
I'm about to repeat myself, but Jen suddenly shouts an unfamiliar word. I'll have to ask her later.
This time I try knocking, which causes her to jump. I doubt she noticed her habit, but I've noticed that loud noises made her flinch. I'd rather not let my mind dwell on why.
"Mister Cheng?"
I can only smile at her cute pink flush.
"How would you feel about having a day out? My sister can come with, she understands English too."
Deep down I wish she'd rather go alone with me, but I want to give her options. I was also hopeful that I could keep her a secret from my family. I don't know if she could handle it.
"Can she? I kinda miss female company."
"Are you sure? She's a bit much."
On cue someone grabs me from behind in an attempt to scare me. Then grips my cheeks to stretch them. Of course she'd come here uninvited.
"Who is a bit much? And tough luck, the lady has spoken. I'm coming."
Jen's eyes look at us widely while making a face. She gives up on holding back and laughs. A wide smile graces her face.
"I'm *gasp* sorry. This is the funniest thing I've seen since someone wearing a tie dye shirt and khakis with a Santa hat and beard road a bike past me."
Is that an American thing?
My sister grins widely and runs up to hug her. Jen looks stunned, but attempts to hug her back. Suddenly she pulls away and lifts Jen's hair. Her ears are full of piercings, ones I'd never noticed. My sister seems captivated by it.
"I always wanted to get more piercings. Too bad that it's not acceptable for a lady of the Cheng family."
"Cheng family?"
My sister gasps and stares at me. I can only shrug.
"Dear, he didn't tell tell you that he's the CEO of Cheng Corp?"
Jen falls off of her bed in surprise, looking stunned and confused. She quietly responds.
"That sounds like a big deal."
My sister snickers while staring at me. The young girl had no idea how powerful I am.
