Chapter 169 - 169 Days Before The Wedding

Days passed normally for October and Lexus. That is, on their part alone. The rest of the people in the Song mansion are busy as they run around the mansion as they prepared the guest rooms for the guests they were expecting to arrive.

Sheets after sheets were being carried by the maids one room of the other. There were also occasional cl.i.c.k.i.n.gs of tablewares that resounded all thoughout the hallways. If anymore, hushed voices of the attendants can be heard and there were giggles of excitement that would sometimes escape from the them are they walked around.

The atmosphere of the mansion was, for the first time in years, light and full of festivities. It could not be ignored the enthusiasm fully exhibited by all.

"I'm really excited." A maid with large curls said in an obvious radiant smile so infectious that people could not help but also smile.

"Yes. The mansion seemed so bright these days unlike those times when our young master was still single and the mansion was like hovered with dark and ominous clouds. It was so oppressive, right? I'm so glad that the young madam came and somewhat lightened the air in the mansion." Another maid, a head taller than the curly haired maid, said with a reserved smile. She has the air of well-educated person with clear calmness in her. She looked at the maid walking next to her with a sisterly gaze.

"Right? Despite her calm and cold demeanor, I like her. She's cool ah. So cool that I look up to her. To have that control over that rampaging demon as if she had a leash tied around our young master's ne--mm!" She continued to chat in a very carefree matter without any filter in her words. She had even started to call her young master "demon."

It was a good thing that the other maid covered her mouth in a fl.u.s.ter in an attempt to stop her from saying anymore. Her body broke out in cold sweats and her eyes frantically glanced in all corners, her heart pounding so heavily in her c.h.e.s.t.

Did someone heard them? The tall maid wished that no one heard them. She really hoped that they would not lose their jobs. If so, then they really don't know what else they would do.

"Mhmph!" The curly haired maid frowned and tried to take the other maid's hands off her mouth for she was starting to get suffocated. It was evident for her face started to red.

The tall maid glared at the maid and took off her hands as soon as she was sure that no one was there. She then reprimanded the maid, "You! Stop talking such nasty words. Do you want us to lose out jobs or even our necks?!"

"Eh?" The maid foolishly looked at the taller maid, dumbfounded. She was not expecting her to explode like this.

Seeing this, the taller maid's anger flared. Her jaws squared and her body could not help but shake.

"Don't "Eh" me. It is good that you are happy and relax but don't forget that our masters are someone we loyally serve. If you keep running your mouth anywhere and anytime without much thinking, then you would really never know what would happen of you." A deep frown was now on her somewhat pretty face.

"S-sorry." The curly haired maid lowered her head in guilt. She bit her lower lip and tried to reflect in her actions. However, with an airhead as she was, she could not wrap her head around the thing that she did something wrong. Did she really say anything wrong when she was just telling the truth?

While they were still having a serious conversation, the two maids could hear a resounding footsteps walking behind them. At this, the two flinched and a chill run down their spines. They then mechanically turned their heads toward the source and their eyes were filled with panic.

"Ladies." The head butler, Khuzong, said with a smile on his old face. It was supposed to be a sweet smile, only his smile did not reach his eyes. His eyes were cold and sharp that it was slicing the skin of the two maids making them tremble in place.

"I suppose you know that I heard your...lively chit-chat in the hallway, yes?" Butler Khuzong said sounding like a pleasant and harmless old man; however, he was far from that. His eyes landed from one maid to the other.

It was silent but that silence was the loudest and harshest one the two maids experienced.

"I will let this slide but don't expect for a second time. Make this my first and last warning. Good? Good. Now then, I expect you two to work hard." After saying this, the head butler walked passed the two scared witless maids with his hands on his back, walking confidently as if nothing unusual happened.

After that small incident with the maids, nothing else had happened aside from the arrival of some guests of the Song family. However, this only applied to the direct family of the Songs.

The He family was a family of business-minded people. Saying that, they are only able to arrive only on the night before the day of the wedding for they are busy with their work and businesses. The only person who flew first was, of course, Grandpa He.

Surprisingly though, he came with Song Wei, the father of Lexus.

In the garden, a group of people were having tea leisurely. It was as if they were not at all affected and concerned with the busy atmosphere inside the people in the mansion.

"You two are still as close as ever." Grandpa He commented with a smirk and then sipped his tea. He nodded his head as if the taste of the tea suits his palate.

"Of course." Song Wei smilingly said. He had his arms over his wife's shoulder, giving it a sweet and affectionate squeeze, making Mother Song's face to redden.

"Stop doing that." Mother Song frowned and shook his arms off of her shoulders but to no avail. She can only sigh in defeat and let the man do what he wanted. She knew that her husband missed her dearly.

"Master He, the wedding gown was really beautiful. I even saw October smiling while looking at it with glowing eyes. You really know what suits your granddaughter the most. My respect for you multiplied by a hundred fold." Mother Song gleefully said while clapping her hands in excitement. She could not wait for the time when she would see October in that wedding gown.

It was really gorgeous.

"Of course." Grandpa He had a smug look on his face, as if saying that it was a matter of course. His chin raised up slightly and continued, "I knew what suits my granddaughter the most."

"Hoho. So you also acknowledged that my son suits your granddaughter then." Mother Song laughed sweetly. She knew that Grandpa He was bitter in this topic but she just can't help herself from teasing the old man since that smug smile was getting on her nerves.

And sure enough, Grandpa He's complacent look froze and slowly broke in a dark look. He gritted his teeth when he remembered that her granddaughter will wear that to officially and formally wed in the Song family.

Ah~! His darling granddaughter will leave the nest already. Isn't she too young to get married?!

"Hmph!"

Mother Song only smiled gloatingly. Song Wei, on the other hand, shook his head in helplessness. Even though his wife was ruthless, she still looked beautiful. Everything about her was just perfect for him.

"I'm excited for Saturday." Mother Song happily said with Grandpa He nodding his had in agreement.
