Chapter 228 - 228 Heart Turning Cold

October just looked at Lexus who was being ridiculous and getting worked up. "Mister Song, don't be too petty."

'Petty? Me?' Lexus was incredulous. He can't believe that his own wife just told him off and even so far as calling him petty. What's more, she even dared to not call him husband or by his name. It felt like his ears just got pierced by an arrow.

"Wifey, please call me husband or hubby. Also, you are being mean to me right now, you know that?" He complained, feeling hurt. Still, he had on a smile though it was bitter. He thought that he was more important than Grandpa He to her, but now he was doubtful of that. This only made his darkened face darker than coal.

"Hubby, grandpa and your parents were really thrilled about names. I just could not reject their suggestion. Can you?"

'I can.' Was what Lexus want to answer abruptly but good thing that he was able to stop himself or else he would receive a cold shoulder yet again.

Really, he could not win against his wife. He accepts defeat. Through gritted teeth and eyes of unwillingness, he said, "Fine."

"Oh right. After your check-up tomorrow, we could stop by the store affiliated with the company to buy you your new clothes." Lexus suggested, changing the subject. He vowed silently in his heart that he would name his second child…definitely!

October only shrugged. "Okay. I'll finish my work early tomorrow. Are you sure you are not busy with the company? You don't have to force yourself in accompanying me since running a company is not easy."

"Even if I'm not there, I can just have Xi do the work for me." He answered truthfully. He does not believe that there was anything with what he had just said, but October frowned.

"You are taking advantage of him too much." She said, displeased. "Take care of your subordinates more."

"…" Lexus fell into silence contemplating before opening his mouth, at the same time that he had stopped the car in front of October's working place. "I'll think about it."

He grinned mischievously. He said that just to appease his wife but it was still not certain that he would do just that. He was, after all, a cunning man who uses all of the resources in his hand to it's very limits, this includes his subordinates.

October gave him a final glance but did not say anything. But before she could get out of the car, she was pulled into a kiss. It was brief, light and sweet.

"I miss you already."

Frowning, October got out of the car. She did not look back but she could hear his laughter from the car which only deepened the blush on her face.

October placed a hand over her cheek to try and cool it down and took a deep breath to calm her erratic heart. After fixing herself, she walked inside the building with her head held high and back as straight as a pole.

Although she was walking like she usually does, she was concerned about something. For the first time, she was feeling self-conscious, specifically her body.

'Will they notice? Am I fat? Does my clothes seemed to burst?'

Questions of all sorts raced in her mind but she had no way to get answer from that. Her brow had unconsciously furrowed together. This remained until she arrived in her office.

In the office of October, Yun Xixi was already in her table sorting papers in an orderly manner. Her movements were fast and no actions were wasted. She was so focused with her work as her eyes were showing the rare seriousness in her. This continued for some time until her phone rang.

She ignored it, however. Wanting to arrange papers from the highest significance to the least before her boss arrives was something she always does on a daily basis. And she was proud of it.

But this time, her peace and her daily routine was destroyed as her phone kept ringing and ringing that the veins on her hand and head popped in irritation.

Yun Xixi scrunched her nose in obvious irritation as she harshly grabbed her phone and answered the phone. But however much she was angered, she still forced a smile and calm mind, "Office of Assistant Director Park. This is Yun. How can I help you?"

Her voice were even, with the correct rising and falling of her tone. It was mild and good-natured.

"…"

"Hello?" Yun Xixi asked again, still maintaining her business voice.

"…Xixi." A low voice of a man sounding affection as he called Yun Xixi's name.

Yun Xixi's flickered an unknown emotion that was buried deep in her heart. Her hand sorting the papers froze mid-air and for a moment she had forgotten how to breath.

"It's me." His voice boomed again. It was affection yet cold at the same time. It was even overbearing that it sent shivers up Yun Xixi's arms.

She lowered her eyes and bit her trembling lip hard. Even if it hurt and was starting to bleed, it seemed like her senses dulled as her eyes turned cold. Her shoulders trembled as if crying.

"I'm sorry, sir. I think you have the wrong number. Have a good day." She said cheerfully with a smile so sweet. Before the person on the other end of the phone could say something more, Yun Xixi had already ended the call.

As if a switch was turned off, her bright smile instantly cooled down, the same as her heart that frozen up. The cheerful and outgoing Yun Xixi was nowhere to be seen as if she had been replaced by someone else.

Yun Xixi's eyes flashed with hatred. Just pure hatred and anger that boiled her blood. Her eyes turned bloodshot and the knuckles on her tightly clenched fists turned blue and white. Her emotions kept swirling inside her, filling her up to the brim making her shake. It was if she was about to erupt.

Her phone rang again. Her head snapped to turn to where her phone as she pursed her lips into a thin line. She glared at her phone as if it the person himself was there. She wanted to jump into that person and shred him into pieces.

The office was shrouded in cold air. In this spacious room, the only sound could be heard was the ringing phone of Yun Xixi.

Her hands tingled and trembled. 'F*ck! If not because my phone is expensive, I would have smash this phone into a thousand pieces and stomp on it a million times.'

Yun Xixi's breathing hitched as she controlled herself from smashing her phone. She tried so hard to block all the noise around her but still glared at her phone. She cursed all of the curses she could remember in her mind and it was already uncountable of how many times she had cursed.

She was too focused in her internal struggle that she did not notice October entering the office.
