Chapter 257 - 257 He Jiao: The Unfortunate Daughter

"Thank you, brother." Lexus said after a moment of contemplating. No matter what, even though his brother left home, he was still the person he sees as brother, the first son of the Song family.

"You thanking me is really making me itchy." Luke laughed his smile dazzling and gentle. "This little bit is really not a problem. Also, you are my brother. Send my regards to sister-in-law."

"Okay." Lexus nodded before ending the call. He stared blankly on air without another word, eyes dimming dangerously.

Assistant Yu thought that it was the right time to say something to his young master who seemed to have calmed down a little. With a gulp, he opened his mouth to say, "Young master, do you want me to tell Master He?"

"..."

"He is still the grandfather of Young Madam October." He respectfully reminded. But the man beside him continued to be silent and so did not say anything further and drove off.

"No need." Lexus replied while closing his eyes. From what he knew, that old man would have already gotten the news that his granddaughter had fainted yet again and went on a rampage. Lexus was sure that that old man would have already made a fuss over there and was already on the way to City D to check on his precious granddaughter.

Assistant Yu nodded, also realizing about it and the worry in him dissolved. All that was left right now was to deal with Peizhi.

It did not take long before Lexus' phone rang. He looked at the caller ID and the corner of his lip twitched before a click of his tongue sounded and decided to answer the phone.

"Yes, grandpa."

Assistant Yu's grip on the stirring wheel trembled for a moment before turning his perplexed gaze on Lexus. 'That was fast. Too fast ah!'

"Lexus, where is my granddaughter?!" Grandpa He's roaring voice sounded on the phone, completely angry and worked up as his breathing hitched. His eyes turned bloodshot and veins pulsating almost about to burst on his temple.

His son He Jei and Assistant Ke who was standing beside him was also distressed about what was happening. However, the anxious and overly protective old man was so angry that they were afraid that his blood pressure would rise dangerously.

"Father, please calm down." He Jei worriedly said but his father glared at him.

"Shut it. My darling granddaughter fainted."

"Grandpa, I've already sent her to the hospital and the doctor said that she's fine." He paused before continuing, "She was overworked."

"What?! Why did you let that happen?"

"I'm sorry."

"Ha! You better be." Grandpa He slammed his cane on the floor loudly and his c.h.e.s.t puffed up. "I'll fly there right now."

And after saying that, he ended the call and turned to Assistant Ke who had a helpless look on his face, knowing what his master would say. He did not wait for Grandpa He to say anything before nodding his head.

"Yes, master." He pulled his phone out and contacted the pilot who was on standby at the airport to prepare for departure.

"Let's go." Grandpa He hastily went out of the office to get to where his granddaughter was, It has to be said that he would take matters into his hand.

Their movements were really swift that it did not take long for them before they boarded the plane and flew toward City D. What was different this time was that Assistant Ke's wife was were them.

"Master, I just got a report that the President and CEO of Halo Company emerged."

"..." Grandpa He did not say anything as he don't really care about it but knowing that it was the company that his granddaughter was working there, he remembered that the company was the culprit of this whole ordeal that his precious granddaughter was sent to the hospital.

"Say."

Mrs. Ke pursed her lips with furrowed brows and annoyance was on her face as she hatefully spat the words that she truly did not want to utter.

"The new President is Peizhi Park."

"WHAT?!" Grandpa He's grip on his cane tightened and trembled. His eyes turned sharp to the point that it can cut their flesh.

"Yes. Also, there is a secret I want to tell you which I promised little Jiao'er to keep."

A heavy silence descended in the plane with the temperature dropping to the negatives. It was so silent that a drop of a pin could be heard.

There were no words that could describe Grandpa He's face. But the common ad most prominent one was the dark and ominous feeling it had.

"The thing is..." Mrs Ke started with a grave voice, looking straight at Grandpa He. "I am working for her as the person who stood as the acting president of the Halo Company for years while little Jiao'er continued to be young miss October's mother all those years. She does not want to skip the growth of her daughter. Despite her having to take care of her daughter, she also has to help Peizhi, her supposed husband, in expanding his company. As you had heard before, the company did so well that investors flocked to connect business ties with the Parks. But because of this, little Jiao'er's brilliance overshadowed Peizhi."

"Peizhi's position as the President and CEO in his company became shaky and his employees paid more respects on Jiao'er than on him. The investors were not an exception in this. And then, Jiao'er became ill all of a sudden. That was when my communication with her stopped."

Grandpa He, a person who was very intellegent and had more experience in the business world, knew that Mrs Ke's words were next. However, he could not speak out his thoughts. It was ideas dark enough that might swallow him into rage. He gritted his teeth and did not cut in and let Mrs. Ke to continue.

"In the years that I have gone, I was able to track down Peizhi's tracks."

"In other words..." Grandpa He had a difficult time in saying the words he wanted to say as he choked in his words, feeling very emotional. His eyes turned red rimmed, even his nose became turning red.

"Yes master, Jiao'er was poisoned by Peizhi."

"Jiao'er...my Jiao'er was...ki-" Grandpa He was not able to finished his words as tears started to flow out of his usually sharp eyes that have turned into eyes of a grieving father who misses his daughter tremendously.

Of all the things, why did something like this happened to his daughter? Why take her like that? Just because she was too brilliant? Was it her fault that she was far more great in handling business than that son of a btch who was the sc.u.mmest sc.u.m?

"...I'm sorry." Mrs Ke softly said, her voice cracking too and begun crying silently. Assistant Ke, her husband, went to her and hugged her frail shoulders.

"If I had known sooner...*hic* that it would happen like that, *hic* I--I would have forced Jiao'er to leave that shameless bstard." Mrs Ke whimpered. The bottled-up sadness, anger, and grief in her exploded in which her tears that was stuck in her just flooded out of her eyes.

Grandpa He tried so hard to stop his tears and thankfully, he did. His heartache was almost unbearable but as a man who was in front of his subordinates, he could not show them how weak he was.

His lips quivered and his eyes were red, Grandpa He sat firmly on his seat and posture straight. He has be strong more than ever, for his family, for his daughter.

'Peizhi Park, I will definitely burn your entire wealth to ashes if not killing you. Your dirty and venomous blood is not worthy to stain my hand.' Grandpa He's whole being was enveloped with eternal darkness so thick that it almost suffocated the Ke couple.
