Catherine smiled happily at her two babies feeling proud of herself for being their mom.
John's eyes were fixed on his wife's face, his love for her was overflowing from his chest, he has many questions about her captivity but he doesn't want to bombard her with questions knowing that she just recently come back to their side. There will be time for plenty of questions later, he just wants to enjoy her presence with their children.
John and Catherine were watching each other from both sides of the bed with a tender smile on their faces.
"I will inform your cousin Grace that you finally come back, Cath. Your mother was worried about you but she remained strong waiting for your comeback, Lily and Jacob were also doing fine," John said, he refrains from mentioning Caroline's name unless his wife will ask him. Then he remembered that he still needs to tell her about the recent tragedy between Caroline and Joseph. But it's traumatic to hear, it might destroy the happiness that Catherine felt right now. He wanted to protect her from the surprise and shock. But that can wait. Now that his wife is back everything can wait. He will wait for the right time that normalcy will sink in back into their lives.. He can't tell her everything about the recent happenings that she had missed while she was in captivity because she might have an information overload and will have a nervous breakdown.
Catherine wiped the tears from her face.
"Yes. How are they doing? I will call them tomorrow myself, I want to hear their voices. I miss them so bad!" she said trying to stop herself from crying again, but her tears were stubborn they forced their way out from her eyes, she was sobbing again, she feels like there was no end to all her tears. She badly wanted to call her cousin right now and inform her of the good news of her safe return but the time in the clock was already 2:00 in the morning, she doesn't like disturbing their sleep. She will call them first thing in the morning,
"Shhh... Cath... no more crying please, you have to rest, we have plenty of time for everything tomorrow, but right now you need to rest," John said. He gathered her in his arms and rubbed her back gently to ease away the strong tide of emotion that was sweeping over her.
Catherine ceased crying after a few minutes.
She arises from the bed and went inside the bathroom to wash her face with water. She exited the bathroom and went to the closet to get fresh clothes, after changing into her pajama she went back into the bed. She settled comfortably into John's awaiting arms, luxuriating in his embrace.
John's lips descended into her mouth, they shared a passionate kiss that lasted for a few minutes. Then they shared another torrid kiss that leaves them breathless. After a few seconds, they broke the kiss and smiled sweetly at each other.
"I love you so much, wife!" he murmured in her ears.
"I love you more, husband!" she responded.
After one hour, both babies fall asleep in bed. John put them back in their respective crib so that they all can rest.
The couple was lying on the bed cuddling each other. "Sleep now, Cath. I will be here by your side I won't leave you. I will watch over you," he planted a kiss on her forehead.
Before she closes her eyes, Catherine takes a look at her babies with maternal love shining in her eyes. After several months of being a captive woman, she's finally home at last in the arms of her husband. It feels so good, it filled her heart with happiness and gladness. She can sleep now without fear, no worries, and no nightmares. A smile of happiness appeared on her lips, thank you so much, God, for bringing me home! she murmured her thanks to her creator in heaven.
A moment later, her breathing was getting steady, she fell asleep peacefully in John's comforting presence and loving arms.
John had a hard time sleeping, many things were bothering his mind. How can his wife come back home so easily just like a snap of the finger? Did her kidnapper just send her back just like that? It sounds so weird. To think that he has been actively advertising for any information of her whereabouts for nearly a year now, which means those who kidnapped Catherine must have no plan to let her go, but then she's back in his side out of the blue, which puzzled him the more. He's very much happy of course, he shouldn't complain, he should be contented that God finally returned his wife to his side and it's what he's been praying for a long time, but there's still that nagging feeling disturbing his mind.
Who abducted her wife?
Earlier, when he studied Catherine's face silently while she was breastfeeding baby Angel, her face does not appear to him like that of someone who has been kidnapped, who was living a hard life in captivity and someone who was deeply troubled. She does look like someone of someone who just returned from a holiday vacation and encountered a mild turbulent storm from the place she was holidaying. So far he can't find any bruises and scar on her skin that will reveal if she was tortured or physically hurt by anyone.
As much as he wanted to know everything that happened to her in the past months he will try hard not to interrogate her tomorrow or even the next day.
Maybe after two weeks, he will start asking questions, he thinks that by that time Catherine already recovered from the trauma of her abduction and she was fully rested by that time.
For now, he will not leave her side. He can no longer allow Catherine to go outside or anywhere without a bodyguard, just to be on the safe side. Now that Catherine was given a chance by God to come back home. He can not allow any bad things to happen again to his beloved wife. He won't lose her anymore.
It was already 3:00 in the morning when John finally dozes off into deep sleep, still holding his wife on a tight embrace afraid that she will disappear in the morning.
