The vehicle that brought Dana finally arrived in the city.
The driver stopped the car near the public park, he helped the woman carry her heavy backpack. "I will carry the bag for you, just walk ahead I will follow you," he said.
"Thank you," Dana murmured.
Wow! It's good to be out in the open, after a long time staying in the same place for many months, she's free as a bird again! She looked around the park, under the shade of the trees. She saw the one person she was looking for, her friend, the street vendor. "That's my friend over there!" she pointed at the woman selling assorted goods like candies, cigarettes, junk foods, and others, sitting on a plastic chair under the shade of a mahogany tree.Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click www.novelhall.comfor visiting.
Dana walked excitedly towards her friend. "Josie, am back!" she smiled at her friend glad to see a familiar face again.
Josie's face brightened up. "Miss Dana Bayugan! Long-time no see! Where have you been?"
"I'm fine, I been working in other places away from the city, but I'm back now!" Dana answered grinning.
"What is that you are carrying with you, oh my... you have a baby? You give birth to a baby?" Josie's eyes widened in total surprised.
Dana laughed. "Oh no! This is not my baby, it's my cousin's baby out of wedlock, she left her baby to me and she eloped with another boyfriend again in a faraway place," she explained hurriedly.
She had almost forgotten the presence of the driver beside her.
The man lowered the backpack on the ground. "I shall take my leave now," he said.
Dana nodded her head. "Thank you again," she said.
The driver turned around and walked away going back to the vehicle that was parked nearby.
Josie gave the plastic chair to her friend. "Have a seat, let me take a look at the baby, oh my, such a beautiful baby!" she exclaimed. "What are you going to do with the baby?" she asked.
"I'm planning to give the baby to her father since the mother can no longer take care of the baby, but the father can!" Dana answered.
"That's a good idea!" Josie responded.
"Listen, friend, I need your help. Can you buy these things for me? I will give you money today just help me buy these things, I have a hard time moving around because of this baby, I need your help. Give me a pen and paper please, I will make a list of the things I want you to buy for me. After I return the baby to her father, I will treat you to a shopping spree. When did you last visited a mall? It's been ages, right?" she asked.
Josie nodded her head. "Yeah, you know me. I am very poor and I can barely eat a decent three meals a day because my income is very small. I would love to visit the mall and go window shopping but I'd rather work here selling my goods than go there in the mall wasting my time and earns nothing," she said with sadness in her eyes.
"Don't worry I will treat you nicely if you do these things for me. Do you still have your old model cell phone?" she asked.
Josie fished out the phone from the pocket of her jeans. "Here... you want to borrow it...sigh...I can't even buy a new one," she felt pathetic. She picks up the pen and paper and gave it to her friend.
"Thank you, now can you please hold this baby for a few minutes while I will make a list of all the things that I wanted you to buy." She placed the baby in Josie's arms.
"Oh my, this baby is so cute... and so adorable, hello...baby...," Josie starts making goofy faces at the infant.
Dana wrote all the things in the piece of paper such as a new sim card, a bassinet for the baby, takeout foods for their breakfast, newborn diaper, newspaper dated today, sunglass and a wide-brimmed hat. She gave the list to her friend along with some money, then lifted baby Angel into her arms. She first asked her friend to mix the baby's milk into the bottle with the water from the flask. Done making the baby formula, Josie gave the bottled milk to her friend. She began reading the list of things to buy.
"I will come back right away after I bought all the things you listed," Josie said. "By the way, what kind of breakfast you want to eat?"
"I want 2 pieces of fried chicken, rice and cold cola with lots of ice!" Dana replied. "Ride a taxi so that you can come back fast! After I returned the baby I will give you a money reward and I will take you shopping with me and we will dine in a fancy restaurant, you like it?" she said.
Josie smiled from ear to ear, great anticipation was building in her eyes. "Okie Dokie! I will return right away!" she hurriedly flagged down a taxi that will take her to the nearest department store.
Dana watched the taxi fading from her eyes. She closed her eyes for a moment, she was thinking of Catherine, where did the boys take Catherine? Her heart was filled with guilt and torment because she failed to help Catherine, but this time she will make sure she won't fail in helping the infant return to where she rightfully belongs. It's the only way she can help Catherine by making sure her baby is safe and secure in the arms of her father.
Dana inhaled plenty of air in her lungs. The sun was already rising in the sky, thankfully she was shielded by the shade of the tree, safe from being roasted directly by the sun's blazing hot rays. It's still morning but the sun was already shining brightly. A cool breeze caresses her skin from time to time. She stared at the baby's face, its eyes opened up, Dana squealed. "Hi, there baby Angel...good morning!" she nuzzled the baby's rosy cheeks. "I'm gonna miss you badly, but I have to hand you to your father so that your future will be secured and make your mommy happy, okay?"
When the infant starts crying, Dana inserted the tip of the bottle milk into the baby's mouth, it's entertaining to watch the infant's tiny mouth sucking greedily at the milk bottle.
One hour later...
Dana's stomach was already rumbling... damn! she's getting hungry!
Where was her friend?
She did not have to wait long, she saw a taxi parking nearby and her friend Josie was exiting the taxi both hands holding her purchases. "Thank God, the food finally arrives!" she murmured to herself.
