Entering his office, Greg looked around. Only a few days have passed, but so much has happened that it seemed an eternity. Everything seemed to be in place. Opening the laptop, he, as always, found a ton of unread emails. Among others, the most notable were the messages from Marina. Judging by the date, they came every five minutes. Every next subject line had more and more exclamation marks. Remembering the morning's conversation, Greg immediately pulled out the phone and dialed the number.
Greg did not even have time to hear beeps from the receiver when a woman's voice slashed at her ear.
"Where have you been? I looked for you everywhere! Have you seen my emails?" - Marina shouted without greeting. Greg smiled broadly, leaning back in his chair. He always loved his middle sister more than anyone else, although it was a terrible secret from the other two. All because Marina always got down straight to business.
"I was busy. I saw the emails but haven't read everything yet. Something happened?"
"Read it! Every last letter! Greg, this is a sensation! It is working. We checked everything. I did not even expect such results. But we need funding, urgently! Supplies and materials are costly, and there is almost no way to get them here, plus I want to attract a few good scientists, you need to lure them with something without opening all the cards at once. And the equipment of the laboratory ... and the laboratory itself and the field for testing and much more. Anyway, Greg, do whatever you want, but I need a few yards, preferably ten, but fifteen sounds better ..."
Marina fell silent, and before Greg's eyes appeared her serious face with big eyes full of expectations and a manic desire for new discoveries. He didn't reply immediately, heating the mood a bit.
"Marina, you know that I won't refuse you anything. But fifteen yards and quickly, this ..."
"Greg, you are my favorite brother!" -Marina began to suck up. And she hated to do this with all her soul. That business really should be severe.
"I'm your only brother." - He answered.
" Details!" - Marina cut him off. Greg barely suppressed a laugh, no genetic tests needed to prove that they were relatives.
"You understand that such an amount cannot be pulled out so quickly," - he began carefully. But Marina knew him too well.
"What do you need?"
Greg hesitated a little for effect.
"That vila I bought you two years ago. You don't use it at all, right?"
There was silence on the line. Greg held his breath.
"Greg? "- he finally heard the uncertain voice of his sister, - what is happening?
He grimaced. Indeed, it is difficult to hide something from this woman.
"I just want to live there for a while. Do you care now being in Mumbai? Would you refuse me so little?!" - Frank coaxed trying to make his voice as natural as possible. Even inserting a few notes of resentment at the end for sentence.
" Greg, what have you done? Are you hiding from someone? Police? Mafia? An angry swarm of abandoned girls? Oh my God! Finally, one of them, tried to stab you with a knife or hit you with a car at high speed?"
Marina, of course, was joking, but for some reason her words made him wince. A bad thought all this time, hiding somewhere in the back of the mind, suddenly began to take shape. Greg silently sighed postponing it, but not for long and tried to make his voice as carefree as possible.
"No, Marina. I'm not hiding from anyone. It's just ..." - He faltered, deciding whether to reveal the truth to his sister. On the one hand, he had no reason to hide the existence of Lana in his life. The whole corporation gossiped about their relationship. Sooner or later Marina will still find out. But on the other hand, there were three huge "buts" behind Marina's shoulders. And he was not yet ready to allow these ladies to start interfering in his still not quite stable relationship with Lana.
"Sis, I will tell you, but on one condition ..." - Greg began vaguely. The breathing on the other side of the call has become tense.
"What?" - Carefully, as if stepping on a minefield, Marina asked.
"You won't say anything to mom and sisters. I will explain everything to them a bit later."
" Oh my God! I knew you would end up like this with all your fooling around. And how much along is she? Is it a boy or a girl? Don't tell me it's twins?!"
When Greg came up with the meaning of his sister's words, he was dumbfounded for a second and already wanted to get angry as an amazing picture appeared before my eyes. "Twins? Twins sound good! "- his inner voice rumbled, putting wonderful pictures before him. Without noticing it, Greg broke into a smile.
"We can call them Mickey and Ricky to continue the tradition. And if girls are born? Girls are good too. Mickey will do for a girl, but Ricky ... "
Greg's brain has already proceeded to sort out female names, trying them on the images in front of his eyes, completely forgetting that Marina was still hanging on the phone and boiling more and more with every minute.
"Greg! GREG !! Gregory Jonathan Wells! Are you listen to me at all? " - The sister's angry voice finally snatched him from his fantasies.
" What? Oh. Yes, I'm listening. Well actually. No, I wasn't. In short, you misunderstood everything. I didn't get anyone pregnant...yet.But I'm working on it."
" What? Greg, what are you talking about? Are you drunk?"
"Listen, I'll just tell you. I'm going to live there with my girlfriend and her two children. She works in a cafe in our company." - Greg decided not to waste time on trifles and immediately dump everything on Marina's head. The truth about the thing with the werewolves, he chose to keep a secret after all, what if it is not very convenient for her to have a heart attack right now?!
Marina paused a little, and then just hung up. Greg was initially surprised, then grinned and threw the phone to the side. The only worry was that Marina in a panic could call her mother or sisters. The real werewolves didn't seem so threatening as those three right now.
