The girl's eyes became round like two saucers.

"But how could it be?" - She asked puzzled, looking from the screen to those two. Lana silently pushed back the collar of her shirt, showing her mark. Greg followed suit, literally beaming with pride in the process.

"Check who made the registration. Perhaps this will bring you some ideas on what could it be, " - Lana told her with a hint. The girl shuddered, pulling back her eyes from Greg's collarbone and hurried to fulfill the request.

"Registration was done by the councilman Ian Winterbourne himself." - The secretary stated slowly still looking at the screen as if waiting that there will appear something else.

"Exactly," -Lana continued. - "Ian Winterbourne, my father, registered us as Mates himself. Not Alpha of Benne pack, as it should be. Doesn't it seem strange to you?"

"I don't ... But ..." - the girl stammered, confused.

"I'll call the senior," - she finally exclaimed, jumping to her feet. But Paul blocked her way quickly.

"No, darling. Your senior won't be able to help us here." -He said slowly, peering into her eyes. The girl froze right there.

"But I can't ..." - she began, but Paul did not let her finish, using his lawyer's oppressive aura to the fullest.

"You understand that the case is very slippery. Neither the senior nor even his boss will be able to resolve this issue. The councilman is involved in the matter. And you know what can come of this, right?"

"No ..."- The girl sputtered, stepping back not feeling all that comfortable under those piercing eyes. Lana shivered while watching Greg's friend for a completely new side. Despite the pretty face, the guy now looked really menacing. His keen gaze and demonic aura made the girl turn pale and flop back into the chair.

"Then you must understand that we must meet with one of the councilmen personally to solve this issue as quick as possible." - continued to push Paul, hovering over her.

"But there is no way either of them will allow such a meeting on short notice." - she began to make excuses.

"Honey," - Paul said softly, crouching beside her and looking into his eyes. His voice suddenly became very soft. - "This question can't be delayed any longer. If someone finds out before the Council, a real scandal can erupt. I am sure your boss will appreciate your determination if you help us resolve this issue quickly."

The girl froze, dumbfounded by such a dramatic change in the man next to her. Only now she noticed what a beautiful green color was his eyes. Anyone will be willing to drown in them...

"Alright," - She heard her own voice as if from aside. And the heart almost jumped out of the girl's chest when he smiled in response.

Lana rolled her eyes, watching this spectacle. It's good that Paul didn't notice that a long fluffy tail with a black tassel at the end jumped out of the girl's skirt because of overexcitement, clearly showing that the secretary belonged to the feline kind. And now this unusual part of the body slowly and gradually stretched to the leg of the guy who continued to charm its owner.

"I thought Paul hates women," - Lana whispered, leaning toward Greg while the secretary tried to make an appointment by phone, continually glancing at the guy near her.

"It does not prevent him from using them." - Greg replied her in a whisper and winked at Ruslana with a cheerful face.

Meanwhile, the girl hung up the phone and announced, smiling broadly.

" I managed to negotiate a meeting with two councilmen. The rest is unfortunately not here today. "

" Great! Where should we go?" - Greg responded eagerly, rising from his chair. The girl suddenly hesitated, looking from one man to another.

"What is the problem?" -Asked Paul, leaning over her again and making her blush furiously.

"Well ... You see, the office of councilmen is on the ninth level. You can get there only with special permission."

"Can you not write it to us?" - questioned the guy, trying to charm her with all his might.

"Permission can be written out only to those who are registered in the system. And there is only Mrs. Benne there." -She finally admitted, staring at Paul pitifully.

"And if you register us right now?" - Greg suggested.

"But how?" - the secretary threw up her hands. - "Humans can be recorded either as part of a pack or as a Mates. There are still employees of the Council and various instances, but this is an entirely different story. It is just impossible to record a human by itself into our system!"

"Okay. Then I will go alone!" - Lana announced, rising from her seat.

"No!" - immediately stopped her Greg. - "You will not go there alone!"

" I am her Mate and have every right to go with her." - Snarled Greg turning to the secretary.

"But I cannot add you to the database as long as Mrs. Bennet is listed there as the Mate of another man." - the girl began to make excuses, seeing as Greg's face became gloomy.

The last phrase made his eyes flare with a savage glow, and his fists clenched on its own."

"Then register me." -Paul interrupted their conflict. The girl's face became completely confused. But Paul continued, not letting her add anything.

"According to your laws, humans and shifters are equal and can enjoy the same rights and responsibilities." - He said, drawing from his pocket a book of laws that Greg handed to him, and pointing to a paragraph. - "Shifters are also obliged to follow the rules of the human society. In this regard, as a human has the right to a lawyer who will represent him in various cases, so Lana has the same right, regardless of the fact that she is a shifter. Plus, even though I am a human, but nowhere in your laws does it indicate that the defender of a speaker before the Council must be a shifter."

Eyes of the girl became lost already on the second phrase. She did not even try to read the text in which Paul poked a finger to confirm his words.

"I'll try." - she finally gave up helplessly, seeing that Paul was ready to pour another million legal arguments onto her...

Surprisingly, Paul turned out to be right, and the system allowed her to register him as an official defender of Lana without any problems. Greg saw it and grit his teeth in annoyance.

"Then write me down as a lawyer, too, or whatever." - He demanded, slapping his fist at the tabletop. The secretary instantly jumped up and tried to hide behind Paul, copping a feel in the process.

"But there can be only one defender." - She whined from behind Paul's back.

"No. That won't do!" - Greg growled turning to his girlfriend. - "I will not let you go alone."

" Greg, please." - whispered Lana, approaching and tightly hugging the annoyed man. - "We only go there and back. Just wait here with Mike. I can handle it! And Paul's with me, too!"

Lana had to spend another fifteen minutes before Greg finally gave in, and agreed to let her go alone. Of course, he took a thousand promises from her.

Lana kissed her grumpy man and carefully keeping her face calm, to show that she was not at all scared, went with Paul to the elevator.

As soon as they disappeared around the corner, Greg whirled around and smashed both hands on the secretary's desk, making it squeak. He loomed over her with a sinister expression.

"I'd start looking for a way to put me on your damn system right now be I in your place," - he growled in her face.- "Otherwise, I will cut off your tail and make a beautiful key's ornaments out of it. I bet my future stepdaughter Vicky will be beside herself with the happiness of such a pretty accessory!"
