During the time while Lana was dressing and making herself look presentable, Greg could not calm down and kept insisting that the wound should be treated. In the end, his nagging was so tiresome that the girl gave up and allow him to play doctor at least like this. In the end, they were able to go downstairs only after 20 minutes or so.
The whole company was already waiting for them in the living room. Greg's friends arrived with him but apparently were warned not to interfere with Greg for the time being, so they behaved quietly. Even Marina, who joined them immediately after the show, all this time silently sat in the corner and glued her eyes to the laptop. But Brian was another story, the guy just couldn't wait, he was literally torn by the desire to go and quickly pull Greg here.Rise had to make a lot of effort to keep her husband in place and used almost all her arsenal of tricks to pacify him till Greg and Lana finally appeared in the door.
Greg was not in the best mood also and was more than ready to tell his newly acquired brother-in-law off, but Brian did not give him such a chance.
"How safe is it here?" - He demanded, seizing the owner of the house with a cold stare. Greg immediately gritted his teeth.
" This is my home. Of course, here is the best security system you can ever find." - He growled through his teeth.
"So good to withstand an attack of several dozen shifters?" - Brian immediately thrown back, forcing Greg to get serious right away.
"Do you think they will attack us? Is it not against your law? - Asked Paul, who was sitting in the corner all this time and writing something down in his notebook.
"Not anymore. And you can thank Greg for it." - Brian snapped, throwing a stack of papers on the table. "Greg, what were you even thinking?"
Everyone stared blankly at the documents on the coffee table. Frank was the first to reach out to them. Greg just crossed his arms and answered firmly.
"I have every right to do that. And ready to take responsibility for the decision. If someone disagrees with me, I will not forcibly hold anyone. Then it was necessary to get to the Council, to Lana. But the decision was thought through, and I am sure of it even now."
"You don't understand it at all, right? The conclusions of what you have done?!" - Brian yelled, leaping up from the couch. - "These are not some silly games. Now the father has every right to challenge you. After all, you, too, are an Alpha now! Congratulations, you dumbass!"
The silence fell in the room.
" What do you mean an Alpha?" - Tony was the first to voice everyone's doubt. - "Is it even possible?"
" It turns out that yes, it is f*cking possible!" - with sarcasm answered Brian. - "You can congratulate your new Alpha now. By the way, he also wrote you all down to his pack. So now you are all together one big and happy Wells pack. Rejoice until you are still in one piece!"
Tony jumped to puzzled Frank, who was now turning his eyes from the papers to Greg and Brian, trying to get what's going on.
"Oh! Gregory, dear, this is so cute! Now we are one big family!" - Anthony proclaimed, after going through the documents. He hugged Frank by the neck with delightful expression. - "But I really don't understand why you wrote Paul there. He's like an emo nephew whom no one ever calls for family dinners because he'll ruin everything with his sour mug."
" In my opinion, Greg shouldn't have included you in the pack. Only Michael can stand you for a long time, and that is only because he is used to dealing with psychos." - Paul snapped, also coming up to Frank and tearing documents from Tony's hands.
Mike said nothing. Even his facial expressions did not change at all.
"Mike, by the way, was with me there." - Greg decided to add shifting some of the blame on the silent guy. - "And it was his idea to bring in all at once. I initially thought only to write down Lana and the children."
" God! Just stop it! Can't you be more serious? Who cares whose idea it was?!" - snarled Brian, pulling out documents from Tony. - "Did you listen to me at all ?! It does not matter what kind of documents and evidence we got on the father. The fact is that even before the Main Assembly, he may very well come and just kill you all. And he will not get anything for it!"
"He could have killed us a long time ago, Bri!" - Lana snapped, attracting everyone's attention. - "And if he needs to attack, he will attack in any case. Especially after what I've done today."
"What are you talking about?" - Anxiously asked Brian, coming closer to his sister. The expression on the girl's face made the cold shiver run down his spine.
"I think I killed Sybil." - Lana admitted quietly. And then she added, twisting her hands. - "And in our father's documents, we found something that he would surely want to hide at any cost. So now he has a whole range of reasons to attack us. The pack or not. Now he will hunt us down till the end!"
Brian's face instantly turned pale.
"What kind of information?" - He finally squeezed out. Even his lips became pale, and his hand reached out to his breast pocket for a handkerchief. But Risa was right there, grabbing his wrists and guiding them around her waist.
Lana, meanwhile, hurried to pull the documents out of the bag, which she had taken with her from the room.
"Here!" - She stretched out to their brother, but at that moment a scaly hand appeared in her field of vision and quickly snatched the paper from her.
"What the ..." - Yelled Greg, who stood next to Lana, but the words stuck in his throat when he saw the one standing near his girlfriend from the other side. Two bright green eyes with narrow as strings pupils looked at him without blinking. The creature appeared humanoid but it's whole face or muzzle, as well as the rest of the body was covered with large greenish-copper scales. Then the creature blinked first with one pair of eyelids, vertically, and then the second horizontally this time. Greg recoiled and hurried to drag Lana away from this monster.
" You could just ask." - grumbled girl, referring to an unknown creature, already from behind Greg's back. - "By the way, this is Gregory Wells, my Mate. Maybe you could shift completely? It seems like some of those present are not very accustomed to this kind look."
"Yes, stop showing off already, Ryan!" - Barked Brian stepping closer. Although he was particularly pleased with the look of horror on the faces of the whole company. But it was not a good time for this kind of entertainment.
However, it seems not everyone was wierded out by an odd kind of shifter. In the next second a loud clatter sounded, and Marina jumped up from her seat, knocking over all her papers and laptop on the floor. It was not horror that reflected on her face, but rather absolute euphoria. As if she just saw a unicorn with a mermaid on it's back souring through the sky.
"This is ... this is ..." - She said stammering, and then abruptly tore off and rushed towards the scaly creature like a bullet. He was so carried away by the documents at this time that didn't immediately realize what danger was about to jump him. And only when there were only a couple of steps between the scaly guy and the over-excited girl, he finally looked up from his reading. Just in time to notice how some object flew past him and knocked Marina down.
"Keep yourself in hand, you madwoman!" -Snarled Maddy, hopping on one leg to the threshold of the room. Ryan, hearing the girl's voice, immediately turned and headed towards her, ignoring Marina on the ground.
" Do not even think about it!" - screamed the girl, seeing that Ryan has already stretched his tail to her. - "Don't you dare touch me with this ..."
"You can touch me! Actually, you're more then welcome, if you let me touch you in return."" - Marina offered hopefully, throwing away the crutch, which her sister had launched at her and rising to her feet.
"Shut up!" - snarled Maddy at her sister looking very threateningly with the second crutch in her hand. - "Don't even think about going near his tail!"
"Why can't I touch his tail if you don't want to? How this is even fair?!" - Marina demanded, also ready for a cat-fight. - "We are sisters, can you not share?"
"I'm not going to share his tail! He's mine!" - Maddy yelled at her not paying attention to the surprised faces of others. Especially the look on Ryan's face was very impressive. The shock shifted so quickly into joy, and then in disbelief and again into a surprise, that it looked almost like muscle cramps. He froze in place, not knowing what to do next, and only dumbfoundedly looked from one sister to another.
Lana, seeing his sufferings, finally took pity on the guy and picked up the rug from the sofa, hurled it on him. Ryan quickly took the hint and shifted, covering himself in a pink fluffy blanket.
As soon as Marina noticed that now, instead of a fascinating reptiloid between her and Maddy, stood just an ordinary man, by her weird standards, the desire to touch him immediately abated. Although not enough to give up so easily. She opened her mouth again to accuse her sister of selfishness, as her brother's stern voice interrupted her thought.
" You both, shut it!" - Greg commanded, finally realizing who their new guest really was. Without waiting for a response from those present, he first went to Maddy to help her to the couch. But was stopped by Ryan, that moved in his way with a determined expression.
"I'll do it!" - He grunted, barely audible, and with a confident step headed towards the girl, who had just now realized that she had accidentally blurted out and was blushing furiously as a beetroot. Noticing Ryan coming closer, Maddy tried to justify herself somehow, but as a result, only a confused mutter came out of her mouth.
"I didn't want to say that... This is all her fault ... She always makes me mad!"
The guy, not paying attention to her words, picked up the embarrassed girl in his arms. Maddy shrieked and instantly shut up. Ryan stopped at the sofa, but he was in no hurry to lower the girl there. Instead, he sat down first and then began to arrange Maddy on his lap more comfortably. The girl was astonished to the point that couldn't even find words.
"Let go! I can ..." - She began to struggle, but the man acted like a deaf. He grabbed a small pillow lying nearby, placed it so that Maddy could put a leg in a cast on it.
"Good." - Ryan announced with satisfaction examining the result and then turned to the others. - "I think for a while you shouldn't be afraid of attacks. Before we left, Madeleine managed to launch a virus and a recording that we got from Brian's computer over the corporate network. During the day, most likely all employees will have time to see it. Mr. Winterbourne will need a lot of effort to resolve this situation. So we still have a few days to prepare."
"Preparations for what?" - Greg asked hesitantly, and his face clearly showed that he did not really want to know the answer to this question.
" To the shit storm that is about to come upon us, of course!" - Ryan answered calmly, baring two rows of razor-sharp teeth in a wide smile.
