Chapter 1

Name:The Chaser of Dawn Author:Calx
Let’s Pretend It Didn’t Happen

A black sun rose in the sky.

Kriserua, who looked up blankly at the sky, was mesmerized by the cracks breaking from behind the black sun.

The sky, full of the colors of twilight, were split open.

In the meantime, an unknown dark energy poured down to the ground. It was the rift in the world where the sky seemed to be bleeding black blood.

The catastrophe of this world that could not be controlled.

But, unfortunately, it’s just too beautiful, to the extent that she thought it’s okay for the world to end like this.

“…What can I do?”

Kriserua, who had been staring at the sky for a while, finally moved, then slowly turned around to where the sound was coming from.

“How can I be forgiven?”

He spoke in a trembling voice as he stood far away.

He didn’t come close. But he also didn’t step back any further.

Tall and broad shoulders… Long dark blue hair, like the color of dawn, tied on one side.

The mark of the highest prestige was placed on his forehead. But he looked like he was about to collapse right away, which she had never seen before.

“Nascan.”

Kriserua called him. It seemed like she hadn’t spoken in a very long time.

At the sound of her voice, Nascan made a face that looked like he was about to cry at any moment.

“It’s my fault.”

Cracks embroidered the sky. Anyone living in this world knew that this was a desperate crisis. All beings in this world had to work hard to resolve the rifts.

But right now, Nascan was not paying attention to the cracks.

“Give me one chance.”

Kriserua looked around and didn’t say anything, so he spoke again.

“Kriserua.”

Nascan fell to his knees.

The Lord of this world, who should have the highest authority, crawled on the floor like a lowly bug.

“Please.”

‘Why? Why are you saying that?’

“Nascan.”

“Yes. Yes. Kriserua. Say something to me. Whatever you say is fine. What should I do? I can do anything you ask me to. So please, don’t leave me. I beg you, I’ll do it even if I have to become your dog and crawl on the ground for the rest of my life.”

Kriserua smiled brightly.

Nascan smiled as if possessed and was devoured by her smile.

“Die. If you commit suicide in front of me, I will think about it.”

‘Why? Why am I saying this?’

Nascan, whom she thought would frown at her cruel words, nodded his head enthusiastically.

“Okay.”

He smiled broadly as if he had been saved.

“Thank you for giving me a chance.”

And Nascan faithfully fulfilled his words.

Raising his claws, which were sharper than a sword, he cut off his head without hesitation.

Kriserua screamed belatedly as the red blood splattered over his smiling face.

The moment the scream tore the sky, her vision glistened white.

The blood of the sky flowed through the rifts, and poured out to the ground. The cracks that had been growing helplessly had engulfed this world.

The explosion of the rift that wiped out everything in this world and swallowed up even the screams full of love and hatred.

But before everything disappeared, Kriserua thought that the last light of disaster she had seen resembled her name; the light of “Twilight”.

***

“Ugh…”

When Kriserua woke up, her body and eyelids were so heavy that she couldn’t come to her senses for quite a while.

Her heart was beating fast.

She had a strangely clear yet terrifying dream.

‘More than that, where am I? Why am I sleeping like this?’

“Uh, ugh…”

Drip. Drip. Drip.

Besides, I could hear the regular dripping of some liquid.

Unconsciously counting the beat, Kriserua touched her forehead, tingling with headache.

The next thing she felt after the pain in her head was the smell of dry dust and the chilly morning air.

A faint light was shining through the curtains. It was already morning.

Apart from the pain here and there, her body was quite warm.

Kriserua struggled to open her eyelids, which were trying to close heavily.

The first thing she saw was someone’s arm. It was wrapped around her waist.

So this was the reason why she didn’t freeze even though the floor was so cold. It was because the owner of this thick forearm was holding her all this time…

Wait, arm? What arm?

“Gasp…!”

Kriserua came to her senses. She quickly unwrapped the arms and stood up.

When she stood up, what she noticed was men lying unconscious on the floor of the laboratory.

There were three men all naked. These three men knew it too.

The man who had just been hugging her was still on the floor. One was next to him, and the other one was leaning against the wall.

“What in the world is this…”

She involuntarily raised her voice, but it barely woke up anyone in the room.

Like them, her clothes were all taken off, and when she stood up and moved a little, the liquid that dripped down between her legs was a clear proof of this situation.

The voice she had just made was also quite sore because of how much her throat had been strained last night.

‘I did it. I really did it.’

Still, she couldn’t believe it, so she looked down at her body, relying on the light of dawn.

Her whole body was stained with red marks. Seeing that there was even a large bite mark on her shoulder, Kriserua covered her face with both hands.

‘I even happened to have such a wild dream.’

“Hah…”

This is… really…

‘Even if I had an accident, I didn’t think it would be a very serious one.’

Seeing the situation before her eyes, the events of last night began to come vividly in her mind.

The hot breath, the gentle and tenacious touch, the eyes that had lost its rationality, the lustful moans of four people ringing in the room, the dizzying pleasure that took her mind away so much that she couldn’t even think of refusing it and the sweet words that whispered frantically, regardless of who was next to them…

Her face heated up just thinking about it, and Kriserua covered her face with both hands once again.

“You crazy bastards…!”

However, she couldn’t just dwell on it. The room was a mess because of what happened.

All the flasks on the table fell to the floor and were shattered last night because of the chaos the four of them made. Fortunately, most of the bottles didn’t contain any drugs.

In other words, they did it without paying heed to other things to the point that they broke all the stuff.

And now, after having such an accident, everyone slept with a completely content face.

Kriserua, who watched them with a confused face for a moment, swallowed her saliva and moved quickly.

The men still showed no sign of waking up.

Kriserua found a flask that was still intact, and selected ingredients that could affect memories from among the cluttered experimental materials.

‘I don’t have time to make delicate medicines, and even that may have side effects, but I don’t think there will be any harm in erasing this memory.’

‘Let’s pretend it never happened.’

This was a mistake. Just a mistake. A mistake that could be forgotten.

She was glad she woke up earlier than these guys.

‘But after all, it’s all because of these guys!’

Kriserua pulled a resentful look towards these men  who were still sleeping comfortably, as she made the medicine.

To explain how things got to this point, she would have to start the story from yesterday’s work.
