Chapter 227 - She ... Protected me.

Maya is sitting near the lake beside the Royal Barn. She has been thinking about Xavier's words and his strange anger. No matter how much she thinks nothing makes sense to her. Only her eyes get tears in fury. It's been her only chore since she left Xavier in the garden.

Eros is standing next to her for about an hour now and whines faintly. His sound was not loud as he is afraid that his noise might upset Maya more.

Maya is staring at the lake in a sour mood and speaks emotionlessly "You can leave".

She knows how long Eros has been standing there and doesn't want to bother him for her own sake.

Eros neighs softly and nudges Maya's shoulder softly as if cheering her up. He speaks "Her Majesty can tell His Majesty your worries. His Majesty will make your every worry vanish in thin air".

Maya stops her thoughts for a second hearing of Eros's words and purses her lips.

'How will he make my worry disappear when he isn't even aware of my worries? Why would he other even he knows? And more than that why would Prince Xavier mention this marriage suddenly? Just why did he ...Why does it bother me more than anything?'

She blinks her eyes to stop her tears and sniffles before turning to Eros.

Maya finds Eros words funny yet warming. 

She asks amused pretending to be normal "What made you think so? I was simply thinking about something".

Eros declares "Her Majesty frowned a lot".

Maya is baffled by its reply and chuckles "Of course everyone does that while thinking".

Eros whines in disagreement "Her Majesty looked sad. Just like His Majesty would sit alone whenever he is sad".

Maya frowns yet asks sarcastically "Even Your Majesty could be sad?"

How could she expose her eagerness to know about that man further? But Eros can't say others anything about this so she can ask it anything. And she can trick Eros easily too. 

Kalki happens to know more about her but she has no idea of him yet. He even found about her powers way earlier than anyone would have thought.

Eros says "The forest will turn colder whenever he sits alone under a tree".

Maya blinks her eyes and scoffs in her mind arrogantly 'What if he can freeze the forest? I can burn them then!'

Yet she asks eagerly controlling herself looking desperate "When was the last time he was sad?"

Because she can't believe that man can be sad at all!

Eros speaks "His Majesty was sad a few years ago when Her Majesty was killed".

Maya blinks her eyes blankly processing Eros's words and asks intrigued "Who was killed?".

Her Majesty?

Maya's eyes grew wide and stare Eros in shock. It felt like a lightning hit her out of nowhere.

Maya asks stunned "What? The Empress was killed?! How?".

Her mind recalls how she was stabbed in her back in her future. A cold shiver runs through her spine.

She asks impatiently before Eros could answer her "How can The Empress of a country get killed?! Why did Sarah lie to me about this?"

Eros speaks "The Head Servant wouldn't dare to lie to Her Majesty. No one knows about this truth. Even The Emperor, Your Majesty. Everyone knows The Empress died in a landslide by an accident but only His Majesty and I know the truth".

Maya's mind is blown hearing this secret and she asks in alert "What are you saying? T-Then...".

She recalls Kalki's cold face and gulps 'What if he finds out that I know this secret now?!'

Maya asks Eros worriedly "Why are you telling me this? You shouldn't have told me..."

Eros states "No, Your Majesty. You are The Master's wife and the saviour of His Majesty too. Your Majesty will never hurt His Majesty".

Maya is speechless "..."

Eros declares "I only saw His Majesty returning from the forest with The Empress in his arms. He looked extremely sad and scary. So, I dared not to even make a noise. And then His Majesty announced in the Court that she died in a landslide".

Maya darts her eyes contemplating 'No wonder... he forbids to destroy the shadow. But... why was she killed? Who dared to kill...His mother? Everyone trembles just by hearing his name. Who in the world dared to kill that man's mother? And why would he hide this truth even from The Emperor? How could someone have killed The Empress when He is her son? And he left the killer without doing anything? Or did he already kill them?'

She looks back at the Palace worriedly.

'Will I able to keep my power a secret and live in this place safely?'
