Chapter 47: Lucky Save

Name:The Copy Mage Author:Adam_A
Just as Damian thought it was over, seeing the leopard midair coming towards him, a large green crocodile, with its jaw unhinged, jumped up from the water.

Damian was shocked by the speed at which the crocodile launched himself upwards out of the water and chomped onto the leopard's body.

The dozens of teeth that the crocodile had, dug into the leopard's body and the crocodile closed it jaw tightly, pulling the leopard down into the water.

Damian, who was panting heavily out of fear and fatigue, let out a sigh of relief, seeing the crocodile take down the leopard with him.

[The leopard has no chance of escaping from the grasp of the crocodile, especially underwater and while the crocodile is preoccupied, I should swim back over] thought Damian to himself.

Getting up, his body felt as though it had been beaten and he knew in the current state he was in, he wouldn't be able to climb the mountain.

Damian swam over to the other side, which despite not being taught, he felt like he knew how to do it and followed his instinct.

Getting up on the other side and retrieving the spear, that had saved his life, Damian headed back towards the shore where he had left his coconuts.

"I will eat, then carry what is left to the cave that should now be empty" decided Damian.

Damian was feeling his body becoming sluggish and difficult to move as he felt hungry and tired.

He walked quickly back to shore and seeing the coconuts under the tree, exactly where he had left them, he let out a sigh of relief and headed towards them.

Along the way Damian had acquired a large rock that he planned to use to break open the coconuts.

Sitting down on the sand, Damian held the coconut between his legs tightly and struck down the rock he was holding with all his might.

It took Damian 3 strikes before he managed to break past the hard exterior of the coconut and began to suck out the coconut water hungrily.

After completely draining the coconut with his mouth, Damian repeatedly struck the coconut again, until he managed to break it into pieces.

Damian felt hungrier than he had ever felt in his life, as he began to monstrously eat the coconut inside the outer shell.

He wasn't very fond of the flavour of the coconut, but he was overcome by hunger as he completely devoured the white coconut, within the shell of the coconut.

The entire coconut had relieved his hunger slightly, but he still felt quite hungry and he only stopped after wolfing down 3 entire coconuts and slurping their coconut water.

Finding a large leaf, large enough to hold the 6 coconuts, Damian carried the coconuts over his back, and supporting his body with the wooden spear he made, he headed towards the cave he had found.

Damian was unsure of how long it took him to reach there, but he had struggled the entire way and pushed his body that was battered and fatigued.

Reaching the cave, Damian was still cautious and scouted the large cave with his spear, but after finding out it was completely empty, he placed the coconuts in the corner of the cave and lay towards the end of the cave.

"The sun is beginning to set, if I sleep now I should wake up early and will climb the mountain tomorrow morning" planned Damian, after resharpening his spear that had become blunt after he used it to launch himself to the other side of the river.

Holding his spear tightly in his hand, Damian closed his eyes and attempted to sleep.

His senses and body was very alert and found it difficult to sleep on the hard floor and the dangerous place he was in, but his fatigue was also strong and pulled him deep into sleep.

10 hours later

Damian suddenly jumped up at the sound of a squeek and tightly holding his spear, he flung it towards where he heard the sound.

Wiping his eyes after just waking up, he saw that his spear had pierced into a rabbit that had entered the cave.

"Good thing I sharpened my spear" mumbled Damian.

Getting the body of the rabbit, it was inticing to eat, but he had no idea how to butcher the dead animal and was also unsure if he was capable of making a fire.

"Oh well, I will keep it with me, but will just rely on the coconuts" decided Damian.

His back felt as though it had been battered for hours after sleeping on the hard rock floor of the cave, but his body overall felt much more rejuvenated after the sleep.

Looking at the right side of his body, it was covered in bruises, as it was the side that he had fallen onto after launching himself over the river, and it felt and looked as it if it was real.

"I wonder what exactly this scroll will give me and what this place is" mumbled Damian to himself.

Wolfing down 3 more coconuts, leaving behind only the shells, consuming everything else, Damian was prepared to set off.

He had been very resourceful, considering his lack of experience and training, and formed a bag of sort that he hung over his spear and carried over his houlder.

Within the bag was the dead rabbit and the last three coconuts he had left, and he was ready to attempt to scale the mountain and gain whatever the scroll had to offer.
