As Flirtic finished the story, he turned towards Zohaifa expecting a stunning reaction. But all he received from the face was skepticism.
"So you want me to believe that you exterminate your entire species just because you were not a meat lover?"
"Yes. And you are implying yourself to be a meat lover too?" asked Flirtic with a fire of hatred in his eyes. Normally Zohaifa would be scared by such a look, but this was a time he wasn't sure of his survival, anyway.
"Look I love both the animals and their meat. There is nothing wrong with it. They are going to die anyway someday," answered Zohaifa, trying to be logical.
"You love your mom, don't you? Can you eat her?"
Zohaifa could not answer this one. He is confused philosophically about Flirtic's actions.
Being baffled by Flirtic's actions, Zohaifa was then bothered about his ideology. Was the action of Flirtic just? In that case, what would the adjudication be for humans? So, he use the tactic Earthlings use when they sense defeat in a conversation: Change the topic, of course!
"So, you also want me to believe that your friend Amaruka threw such an enormous tornado that the whole planet shifted its position?"
"If you don't wanna believe then don't. I never wanted to share this with you, anyway. You are the one who asked for my story."
"Also, why did you kill your friends?"
"They were among the carnivores too."
"What kind of friend were they who could not even change their diet because of a friend's request?"
"Shut up. I consider them as a sacrifice for my struggle for justice."
With this atypical response from Flirtic, Zohaifa threw a sentence which threw an arrow to Flirtic's heart, "Are you saying that you killed them without even trying to change them?"
Flirtic must have been confused about asking his friend to shift as it would give them a hint to unveil the cloak he kept outside him. Or maybe it just did not come to his mind that he had an opportunity to change them and realizing this so late consternated him.
Nevertheless, his response was a contentious sentence, "Shut up! You were not there. You have no right to throw a comment on my situation nor my actions."
"I am right. Aren't I?" agonizingly replied Zohaifa with a smirk which only doubled the annoyance.
Flirtic, out of pure animosity, punched Zohaifa throwing him towards the door of the cell.
Surprisingly, it seems that that door was just a hologram. Zohaifa stood up with swollen cheek as he stared at those beasts, expecting an answer to this nonsense.
A moment of silence continued.
"We didn't have enough budget," answered one of them awkwardly breaking the silence.
