Mars kissed Emmelyn and hugged her before he climbed down the bed to open the curtain and let the light in. Emmelyn immediately covered her eyes when the rich sunlight flooded the chamber.
Ahh, she was right. The sun was already high in the sky. They slept all through the morning.
Gosh... she immediately remembered that they were not in their own castle.
Did she make so much noise during their lovemaking last night and this morning? She didn't remember.
Everything was vague because she only remembered it felt so good and she didn't care about her surroundings.
She was certain that she must be loud, like always.
Uff... how much she missed their soundproofed chamber at home.
Now, how would she show her face to Lily, Athos, and the servants?
Suddenly her cheeks reddened.
"Do you want to go out for lunch?" Mars turned to her and asked. He was surprised to see her flushed face. She looked so adorable, he almost wanted to pinch her cheeks. "Is anything the matter?"
Emmelyn wrung her fingers and lowered her face. "Uhm... can we just eat inside our chamber?"
"Why?" Mars asked back. "Our chamber is messy. Let the servants clean it up while we have lunch and have a chat with the others."
Emmelyn bit her lip. She knew he was right. Their chamber needed cleaning and it was futile to avoid their hosts as they would stay here for a few days.
She better sucked it up and worked on her poise when she met them for lunch.
Finally, Emmelyn nodded weakly. She went to the corner of the room where the servants provided two jugs filled with water for them to clean up in the morning.
She washed with a wet cloth and took a new dress from the cupboard. Lily said she prepared for her several dresses for change while she was in Southberry.
Emmelyn found they were all nice. She picked one with a simple design that she liked and put it on.
Mars followed suit. Not long after, they already got dressed and ready to leave their chamber.
As they walked toward the dining room for lunch, Mars grabbed Emmelyn's hand and clasped it with his. She turned to look at him and her face flushed red.
She loved being lovey-dovey with him and was surprised that he would openly show his affection to her in front of his friends and family. She had never seen other royals and nobles treated their wives that way, except for the king.
Ah, maybe Mars took after his father in this regard?
Emmelyn felt glad she had been able to forgive the king for the sake of her husband and future children. The man was a good role model for Mars in treating the woman he loved.
Emmelyn could really see why Queen Ellara loved her husband so much, even though the king was average-looking.
The monarch openly adored her and he would even defy his father and rejected the betrothal set between him and his childhood fiancee so that he could be with Elara.
Emmelyn was grateful that her husband was raised in a loving home and saw his father as a role model. Now, she had such a loving and respectful man for a husband.
Inwardly, she promised to start learning to like the king and treat him better. All this time, she always held back and did her best not to make a connection with him.
Now, she had accepted the fact that the king was her family by extension. She had buried the hatchet, it was time to live in peace.
Gosh... that reminded her. She hadn't told Mars about Killian.
She needed to be honest with her husband about her brother. She didn't want Mars to feel that she was hiding something from him.
Initially, Emmelyn wanted to find her brother first and talk to him before she could decide whether she would tell Mars or not. But now, since she and Mars were already married, she felt guilty to keep things from him.
However, she needed to find a good time to bring up the subject. She didn't want to ruin the mood right after they got married.
Mars might be worried when he learned about Killian's existence and tried to look for him immediately.
Gosh.. when would be the right time to tell Mars?
Emmelyn glanced at him and saw his side profile. He looked so handsome and happy.
She lowered her head and sighed.
She would tell him everything after they ended the visit to Southberry. Once they were back at home and things were going well, Emmelyn would slowly share about Killian.
She would need his help to get the information about Killian's whereabouts and how Ellena could be acquainted with her brother. This was something that she couldn't do herself since she hadn't had any connections in Draec that could help her.
Her biggest contact was actually the crown prince. It would be nice if she shared this important piece of information with him so he could help her look for her brother and find ways to soften Killian's heart.
Mars sensed that Emmelyn was thinking of something since she was suddenly quiet.
He turned to her and asked, "Is there anything bothering you?"
"Uhm?" Emmelyn fluttered her long eyelashes and stared at the mind with a wry smile. "Why did you ask?"
"You seem quiet," her husband replied. "Are you unwell? Is something bothering you?"
Emmelyn dismissed his concern with a wave of her hand. "No... ahahaha.. I am just tired because..."
She didn't need to finish her sentence. The man just assumed she was tired from their vigorous lovemaking twice in a row, right before they slept and after they woke up.
He chuckled and nodded. It was expected.
"Well.. we can just rest all day after lunch if you want," he said cheerfully. "You have to replenish your energy."
Emmelyn smiled sheepishly when she heard him.
"Uhm.. didn't you say Southberry has beautiful vineyards and you have been wanting to take me there?" She asked him. "I want to go."
"You do? Are you sure? We can go tomorrow," Mars replied.
Emmelyn shook her head. "No, I want to go today."
She wanted to be away from the castle for a while to hide her face from Lily and the castle servants.
