Chapter 31 - How Could You Threaten Your Brother

Shadow blurred for a second before appearing right in front of Maya's face . He was 3 inches away from her and she had no way to dodge his attack but what Shadow did shocked Maya to the core . Even the crowd had their jaws wide open seeing the scene in front of them.

"How can you threaten the person who you promised to protect years ago . Sigh.. I'm really disappointed " Shadow whispered to Maya while holding her face gently with both of his hands.

"W-What are you doing?!!! Get the hel.." Maya was startled seeing Shadow's sudden move . She wanted to attack him but his words dumbfounded her . She stopped in the middle of her sentence thinking about what he just said . She stared at him intensely for some reason as if she was inspecting his face.

"Yo-u..You can't be him right ?..no that's impossible it can't be real " Maya asked Shadow unsure of what's going right now .

Shadow saw her expression which was filled with uncertainty, shock , suspicion and hope. He gave her a light smile before he said

"Remember? You never defeated me not even once , so where did you get the courage to stand against me in a fight?"

"T- This not a dream right? Noo pleaase tell me this isn't a dream " said Maya with a shaky voice and tears dropping profusely from her eyes .

"Y-you ar-are not dead right ? You are Shadow my brother " she kept crying while still uncertain of her claims but a spark of hope grew inside her heart .

In the middle of the hall and under the hundreds of gazes , Shadow took Maya in his embrace. He held her so tightly but Maya's hands were still hanging from her shoulder . she didn't know if she moved a little bit ,her dream might collapse and she wakes up from it . But soon she hugged him with all her strength trying to stop him from vanishing away . She was crying her heart out but people didn't know why or what's going .

"What's going on ? Why would Shadow hug that girl so suddenly?" Mia murmured to her self quietly but her voice was still audible to both Grace and Samantha to hear .

"What did you just say!!!!" They exclaimed at the same time not believing what they just heard .

"I said why would he hug that girl Maya so suddenly " Mia said casually.

"N-No his name .. what was his name ?!!" They urged her to say his name as quick as possible.

" His name is Shadow " said Mia.

"N-no way" Samantha covered her mouth while gasping for hair.

"S-shadow?!!" Grace said.

"What's wrong with you too ? you look like you have seen a ghost " Mia wondered.

"Well technically that's what it is " Grace said with a shocked expression on her face.

"Shadow is Maya's twin brother . He was killed about 10 years ago" Samantha said with a little sorrow in her voice .

"What!!" Mia exclaimed.

"Yeah, Shadow was said to be cripple and was sent to one of the branch families when an assassins killed him or that what we thought until this moment" Grace said

People near them heard their conversation and were even more surprised than Mia to know that Shadow was Maya's twin brother .

"This is so unbelievable "

" You mean to say these siblings were naturally given the light and dark affinity?"

"The Raven family dared to actually exile the dark summoner from their main family "

"That Shadow is so powerful how could he be that powerful even though he is only in the spirit realm ?"

People started discussing the current events with surprised looks and wide open jaws.

Back to Maya and Shadow who were hugging each other for quite sometime .

Maya's hands were in a fist shape trying to cling to Shadow as much as possible .

"You need to come with us " a male voice resounded in the hall .

A group of six students who wore a different uniform from the rest of the students came to where Shadow and Maya were standing.

Maya turned her face to their direction but her eyebrows frowned when she saw them .

" Who are you exactly?" Shadow said after he stopped hugging Maya and turned to face them.

"We're from the disciplinary committee. After seeing you kill people , we have to take you with us to the academy's higher ups " the leading student said to him.

'Hypocrites . If not for my powers you wouldn't even bat an eye after all i could sense your presence the whole time when you were eating here . You could've easily interfered with the situation before I killed them' Shadow said inwardly.

"let's go" he said to them .

they were powerful cultivators as the weakest one of them was at the middle stages of earth realm so Shadow wanted to play it safely for the time being.

"Brother don't go " Maya said to him in a low voice with pleading eyes. She just reunited with him yet they came to take him away from her again.

"I'll let the family interfere, don't worry" Maya said to him.

"If anyone of the family interfere in my business, i would slaughter them " Shadow said to Maya dumbfounding her .

She didn't know why he had this reaction but she didn't dare to ignore his warning as he has just killed a member of her family.

'I didn't think she was this naive, well i think it's not her naiveness that's blocking her from thinking but rather the doings of my father who raised her like that ' Shadow thought to himself .

Shadow went with the group of students and left the scene.. The whole cafeteria hall was silent for a while trying to digest the events that happened just now .
