Chapter -103

"How dare you speak to him in that tone? Do that again, and I will show you hell right here and now" Margaret, on the other hand, hearing the man, lost her composure. She dared him to try her.

"Yes, Boss," the man yelled out at the top of his lungs, loud enough for everyone to hear outside the room.

"Oh, so you wanna try it?" Margaret asked, challenging the man.

"No, Boss... I was in the wrong. It won't happen again," Standing straight in attention, the man corrected himself. 'Who is the kid to rile her up so much?' the man thought as he sneaked a peek at the handsome but wimpy looking kid in front of him.

"Now answer his question," Margaret sat back in her chair and said.

"He is not a regular, but he does hang around here every with his friends, but I don't know him personally. But..." The man looked at Margaret, "But when he came here a few days back, someone asked me to fiddle with his drink." The manager told them.

Margaret looked at the manager seriously. If this were to get out, the reputation of this club and hers will be down the drain in no time. The good thing was that most of the people come here to get wasted, so it was hard to blame the club. But she could tell that it was a frequent occurrence at the club.

When the man found Margaret staring at him, he clarified further, "It was one of his friends. Believe me, he told me it was just a prank, and this guy won't mind it..." the man fidgeted with his fingers as he explained. He was getting out pretty lightly earlier after what he did, but the more this matter was unveiled, the more he began to get anxious.

After that, the man told them everything he knew about what happened that day. He didn't leave a single thing out. After he was done, Margaret asked him to leave, which the man was happy to do.

"That's why you should choose your company wisely," Alex spoke when the man left.

"I am sure it's not my company you are talking about," Margaret got up from the chair, walked up to Alex and sat in his lap.

Alex shook his head, "not you, but his friend," Alex said, referring to Abir, "I am sure he did it all because of money, or maybe he was jealous of his own friend."

"It's a common thing in this society. It's happening to everyone, and your friend just happens to be on the wrong end this time." Margaret said as she scrolled through her phone.

Alex looked at the calm and mature Margaret he was used to and couldn't help but compare her to the one from earlier. They were poles apart.

"You know, for someone who was really angry at that man for using that room, you let him leave way too lightly. Just a month of the pay cut, he won't even feel it." Alex said, "And I was really nervous if he would help us after you fired him. Surprisingly he was quite cooperative."

"Do you think that I let him go cheaply?" Margaret asked as a smirk appeared on her face. She put the phone over her ear, calling someone.

"Yeah, I was here at the club, and I fired the manager. Would you be kind enough to like deal with his severance?" Margaret said on the phone and then looked at Alex as she mouthed, 'How much do you think?'

Alex just could not understand what was up with Margaret. Now she was even giving the man severance benefits?

When Alex didn't reply, Margaret smiled as she said, "Not too much, just keep into account that he has a family. Yeah, get it done by today." Giving the instructions, Margaret ended the call.

"You are kidding, right?" Alex looked at Margaret and could not believe his ears as he asked.

"Why do you say that?" Margaret, on the other hand, played it dumb.

"No... No... No... Don't play with me. There is something else going on here. Tell me," Alex was not ready to take her at face value.

"Well, let's just say our severance package is a bit more... intense," Margaret smiled, and giving a peck on his lips, stood up to leave.

"Let's get going now,"

Following Margaret, Alex walked out of the room, and the two of them headed to the security room to get the footage from that day.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

They spent some time in the security room going through the footage before they finally walked out. Alex walked out of the club while Margaret stayed behind to leave some instructions for those working there.

Outside,

"Now we know what happened that day, we can easily prove that Abir is innocent," Alex was full of excitement.

'I should let Daniel know,' Alex thought, and without wasting time, called Daniel.

"Yes, Alex... Any progress?" Daniel asked as soon as he answered the call. His tone was evident enough that he was busy.

"Yeah, For now, I have enough evidence to prove that Abir was conspired against and framed," Alex told Daniel, "I will tell you the details face to face, but for now, I can assure you that Abir is innocent," Alex said with conviction.

"That's great. I can sense the confidence in your tone," Daniel finally had a smile on his face. Finally, some good news, "That was pretty fast of you," Drake complimented.

"I got lucky," Alex said and looked at Margaret, who had just walked out of the club. She saw him talking on the phone and waved at him.

Margaret felt that she did not understand Alex, but that was the case for Alex as well. Till this morning, Margaret was the beautiful and elegant neighbour of his, who was rich as fuck. He had no idea how she got rich, but she did own a mall or maybe a couple of other properties. And that was okay, totally okay and understandable to him. But the demeanour she showed inside made it clear that she was anything but ordinary. It also strengthened his doubt that she somehow was connected to the girl in her visions. Now all he had to do was get close to Margaret, wait and uncover her secrets.

"Alex, are you listening?" Daniel's voice from the other side broke Alex's thoughts.

"Yeah, I am. There was some disturbance here. Can you repeat what you were saying?" Alex asked.

"The date has been issued for their trial. It's two days from today," Daniel informed Alex. "I know it's too short of notice, but let's put our all into it. If you are done with Abir's case, try and dig into Suzie's as well." Daniel asked. He sounded a bit sorry, but he couldn't help it. His hands were already tied up with all the other matters of the company.

"It's no big deal. I will try my best, and hopefully, we can get them both to walk out of the courtroom innocent." After Alex was done dealing with Abir, he was pretty confident about his prospect going on.

"Hahaha... Then let me thank you beforehand," Daniel laughed, hearing the confident Alex, "Then don't let me stop you from helping the innocent souls. Good luck," Daniel said.

"Sure,"

Ending the call, Alex walked back to Margaret.

"What now? You have anything else to do?" Margaret asked as the two of them walked towards his bike.

"The date of the trial has been decided two days from today. I need to find evidence to prove Suzie innocent too." Alex told Margaret, " I think I need to start digging for details in her case as well."

Listening to Alex talk about his plans, Margaret gave a light tap on his shoulder, bringing his attention to her, "Don't forget about me. I am the one who helped you out here. You are not going to be a thankless man now, are you?" Margaret asked.

"I helped you out with the evidence to prove that boy innocent, and you are going to ditch me now that I am not needed anymore?" Margaret asked as she tried to fake an angry tone.

"No... Absolutely not. We are going for lunch together before we start with Suzie. The lunch is on me," Alex was more than happy to have a lunch date with Margaret, "I won't say thank you because we are past that."

When she heard Alex, Margaret's face bloomed like a flower in spring. She entangled her arm with his and said, "Now, that's like a gentleman. So, where are you taking me?"

"How about the restaurant near my workplace? We need to go in that direction anyway. I have tried the food there a couple of times, and it's pretty decent for my taste," Alex suggested.

"Oh well, I don't really care much about the place," Margaret readily agreed. The place did not matter anyway. What mattered to her was that she was going to spend some alone time with Alex. And that was more than enough for Margaret, who was getting wrapped up in this blooming love.
