38 Good Morning

Recalling what happened in his previous life made his body heavy just like the day where Xia Meiren slipped off his hold. The pain was still there when he remembered how he lose the woman he loves.

He bent down and kissed Xia Meiren on her forehead before he went to lie down on Little Melon's other side.

Lu Yifeng knows that Xia Meiren's grandparents were still doubting him. They were probably thinking why was he so eager to have her when he doesn't even know their granddaughter well.

He has loved her once and he will always love her in this life.

The wounds on his bodies was a reminder to him that he should make everything right. Those wounds will become scars and he doesn't care if it did.

Little Melon turned his body and faced him. He snuggled closer to his father as he sleeps in peace.

Lu Yifeng stroked his son's hair with a smile on his face. This time, he will try to be the best father for his son and the best husband to his wife.

When Xia Meiren woke up, what greeted her that morning wasa sleeping Lu Yifeng with Little Melon cuddling to him.

She instantly sat up when she saw Lu Yifeng's face. Her heart started racing as she became nervous.

Although she calmed down when she realized the pillows in between them. She would have jump out of the bed if he was sleeping beside her!

Did he placed the pillow in between? He was indeed a man of his words...

To be honest, he ruined her expectations of him. Her heart was starting to get confused. He raped her and yet now, he was taking responsibility to it.

At first, she thought that it was all meaningless words but with his actions, he was actually being true to her. Lu Yifeng is not as bad as she thinks he is. But the wound he inflicted in her has left a scar and that scar was something that wasn't easy to erase, she couldn't help but hesitate and doubt.

He is known to be a cold and ruthless man but... he was kind and gentle to her and her son. In fact, he didn't do anything after he was whipped by her grandma. He is a powerful man and yet, he was willing to step down from his throne for her. A man like him... why is he willing to waste his time to a woman like her? Surely there are better women than her.

He threatened her to marry him but... now that she was looking back at that time, he doesn't look like he mean it. Her grandparents faces were calm too, as if they already know what he was planning to do just to make her agree.

After she moved into his place, he treated her well and never forced her into the unimaginable things she thought he will do.

Why is he willing to go this far for her? She wanted to ask him but at the same time she couldn't bring herself to do it. How will she start?

Now that she thinks of it, they don't really know each other well. She only know him because of the rumors and she was pretty sure that he only knows her because of her popularity.

Aside from that night a few years ago, that was the only time they were together. She was sure that they didn't meet before that... So why is he so eager to marry her? He could have just done something within his power to keep the Xia family quiet. He could have avoided getting beaten by his grandparents if he wanted to. Why does it feel like he has known her for a long time?

"You can't stare at me and not say anything."

Lu Yifeng's eyes slowly opened. He looked at her with a smile on his face. "Won't you even greet me a good morning?"

By reflex, she opened her mouth and said, "Good morning."

"It's indeed a good morning." Lu Yifeng let out a small chuckle before he sat down and went off the bed.

He walked towards the bathroom and as he did, he removed his shirt, exposing his body wrapped with bandage. His wounds were still in the process of healing.

Seeing his bandaged body put her heart into chaos. She can clearly see that he was not the man as what the rumors were saying. She didn't want to easily forgive him but seeing how he treated her well and how he follows theur contract, she couldn't help but waver a bit.

Why was she so keen to destroy him again? Ah... because of that night... he raped her.

But isn't he taking responsibility and making up for it now? He's actually a pretty decent guy.

He threatened her family.

Was he really serious with that? Her grandparents doesn't look like they were threatened. In fact, it was the other way around! Her grandparents are threatening him! If he did anything to hurt her or force her, her grandparents would surely come flying and beat him again!

It was as if there were two mini Xia Meiren on her shoulders arguing with each other.

She waved off her mini angel and mini devil before she turned to Lu Yifeng and said out loud, "Don't wet your wounds."

Lu Yifeng stopped in front of the bathroom door, without turning, he said, "Okay."

When he entered the bathroom and faced the mirror, he saw himself smiling. He was a man who rarely smiles but whenever it comes to Xia Meiren, even if she shows him a small concern, he couldn't stop himself from smiling. His cold eyes were now sparkling.

Xia Meiren went out of the bed and looked around the room. This was her chance to try and find something against him. She wasn't able to do it last night because she instantly fell asleep after he left.
