Gradually the rain stopped and her tears unleash the whispers in muted silence. The only thing Leena could hear was her heartbeat. Her breath came in ragged and shallow gasps. Pain felt like a sharp-toothed creature eating her from inside. There were bruises, cuts, scr.a.p.es. Her wounds were oozing with blood. The bones in her body might have snapped into pieces when she hit the rocks and trees while falling. I am going to die today? What did I do to suffer such a miserable death?
She was begging gods to stop the heartbeat in her c.h.e.s.t for she couldn't endure the chronic pain that is eating her like a slow poison. She no longer dreamed of anything except for the graveyard doors to open so that she can rest in peace. Finally, gods must have listened to her pleas, black was filling the edges of her vision and she was on the verge of closing her eyes, but at that moment, she heard a voice. A voice like an echo from the fairly lands.
"I am here! I have come! little one." A trembling voice whispered into her ears which she could barely process into her brain "You are safe! Please don't close your eyes." He slowly discarded the creepers that shrouded her body without letting his hands touch the wounds.
Leena could feel her body lifted and carried by a strong pair of hands. His comforting hands were holding her body as if she was the most fragile thing in the world. To her surprise, she could feel his teardrops landing on her forehead. His tears were rubbing salt on her wounds as they gushed down from his eyes. Who is he? Why is he crying when I am the one injured? That trembling voice, his wet eyes as if he is in a plethora of pain. She could feel his heart was palpitating with fear. Does he know me? How did he know that I am here?
"You will be safe. I will protect you." All along the way, he was whispering to keep her mind conscious.
A man was waiting along with an umbrella at a little distance and he gasped when he saw his boss was carrying an injured girl. He could sense she was barely breathing.
"Sir, who is_"
"To the hospital!" His unearthly shrill voice pierced above the skies. It takes time for the rescue squad to arrive here and he can't risk waiting here.
"Y_es sir." The driver hastily opened the car door without asking a question.
"Don't heed to the speeding rules! I will take care of it." He stepped into the car along with Leena and gently placed her on his l.a.p.
"Alright, sir." The drive muttered without asking any questions and sped the accelerator. The car was moving at an unlawful speed not minding the speed restrictions.
At the back seat, Leena was shivering like a child, lying semi-conscious in the arms of a man unknown to her. Her breathing was turning heavier each passing second.
"Speed up the car!"
"On it, sir."The driver spoke up in a pressing voice. He was already running at a maximum speed but when the car was entering the city premises, it hardly moved a hairsbreadth.
"Are you riding a car or a toy!" The roaring voice lanced.
" Sir!" The driver muttered in a trembling voice "The city is throttled by traffic due to heavy rain. The roads are blocked and we are still far away from the city. We can wait here and call the rescue squad. At this rate, she may not make it before we reach the_"
"Stop your f.u.c.k.i.n.g mouth!" The voice from the back seat raised an octave running chills down the driver's spine.
"Do you have a death wish!" He unlocked the mobile and opened google maps to look for a nearby hospital. It was a medical emergency center and it doesn't perform major surgeries. Her bleeding but Leena has to have first aid to stop her bleeding before she loses her consciousness completely. "Take a detour and head to the south! There is a hospital in the nearby proximity."
The driver nodded his head and drove a little distance to find a lane to took a detour. He was driving as fast as he could to save the life.
At the backseat, Leena's state was in no good. She was bleeding profusely, her pulse was weakening. He held direct pressure on her arm to stop the bleeding and could feel Leena is about to lose consciousness completely. She is close to moving into a shocking state from excessive blood loss. If he elevates her legs above her heart, it will help to circulate the blood to her vital parts until they get medical help but he can't do it.
"Don't lose your consciousness, Leena!" He didn't let her close his eyes. "You have to live life to the fullest. Fight with death by living your life."
"W_ho a_r y_u." Her voice was barely a whisper. How did he know my name? She wanted to know the name of this man before she leaves this world. She made fun of her meemaw when she talks about guardian angel stories. They stay by your side to protect you. Is he my guardian angel?
"You don't need to know my name, little one." He smiled gently. "You will live the life of your dreams. I will not let anything happen to you."
Her voice cracked hearing his reply. She tried to get a glimpse of his face but her vision blurred and she was not in her senses to discern anything. Someone I have trusted for three years wanted me dead and the man in front of her, she doesn't know about him, but he has come to her aid.
She was drawn to him in a way she has not experienced before. Like every part of her, that came from a dead star alive, she pressed her lips onto his when he was tending to the wounds She wants to have a memory of her first kiss before she dies
The car screeched to a halt at the same time.
