Playing with Cutie, Leena's eyes occasionally flicker to the main door anticipating someone's presence. Her thoughts were in the mayhem. What sort of urgent work did he get that he had to run on the first day of our marriage?
"Are you missing, your husband already?" Jane teased and a giggle erupted from Reese's lips.
"All the time. Every second, every minute, every hour, every day." Leena crossed her arms, hugging herself thinking about him.
"Gosh! You are completely smitten by him," Reese exclaimed thinking back to the days of Leena's behavior towards men. What a change in her and all credits go to Devin. "I can't believe you are married, Leena. Now I am left alone in our zone." Reese wiped her tears.
"First clear your name that you are not into women," Jane said.
"It's all because of this man-hater." Reese threw a pillow onto Leena's head.
Dodging the pillow, Leena ignored Reese and gazed at Cutie. "Hey, Tootie, you haven't told your crush name yet."
Shyly, Cutie started. "My Dad_"
"Why do you keep asking about her crush, Leena?" Jane's quick voice interrupted their thoughts. Just then Wilbur arrived with a snack for the three friends and they immediately snatched and dug into the food immediately. "Even malnourished doesn't act like you girls."
Wilbur then picked Cutie in his arms. "It's time for my baby to sleep."
"No!" Cutie struggled to come down from Wilbur's arms. "I want to pay with my toys, dad."
"So that you will get up late in the morning and you get the reason to miss your school, right?" Not listening to his pleas, he carried her to the bedroom.
"Pomise, dad. I had somach-ache, in the moning." Cutie yawned laying her head on Wilbur's shoulder.
"You will have one or the other reason ready. If I hear you have missed the school again, I will throw you into one of those military schools." Sacred that her dad would put her into that den, Cutie did not argue more. Occasionally, Wilbur threatens Cutie that he would put her in military schools where she can't write letters to her crushes and bully her neighbors. So, she would obediently listen to Wilbur for a week.
Gently putting her on the bed, he wrapped her favorite spiderman blanket and patted her until she fell asleep. "My daughter is so cute." He kissed her forehead and closed the door before going down. Wilbur messaged Devin but he hasn't got any response. He can't believe his sister is married and he no doubted she would be happy with Devin.
When Leena heard the sound of a car, she threw the spoon and ran outside. There she saw, Devin stepping out of the car, as handsome as always. "What took you so long, babylicious?" Leena clamped her arms around his waist.
"Hectic traffic, sweetheart." He easily lied.
She looked at him with a puzzled frown. Obviously, she didn't buy his theory. As she inhaled his scent and unlike other days, it was not musky cinnamon she sensed. "I am smelling blood on your shirt. Where did you go?" She demanded.
Devin's body stiffed at the sudden question. I should have changed the shirt! Devin cupped her face and explained. "Perhaps rat blood. While returning from the work, I saw a man killing a rat, and being a kind and generous man, I saved it."
Rat blood? He has no sense of humor at all. Atleast he could have come up with something that I could believe. "I am not buying your_"
"Do you have to ask so many questions when I just arrived?" He shouted at the top of his voice. "Why don't you ask if the traffic was hectic? Why don't you ask if I had dinner? Don't you care about your husband?"
Leena exhaled a deep sigh. She did not want to argue with him on this topic anymore. She knew he is trying to avoid the topic. "Do whatever you want." She struggled to free herself from his arms but Devin cupped the back of her nape, pulling her forward. His gaze moved from her eyes to lips simultaneously sending jitters in her body. She thought he would kiss her lips but instead, he moved his lips to her ear and whispered. "You look f.u.c.k.i.n.g hot when you get angry."
Her face turned hot urgently. Why am I turning on with just his words? "I_I" Devin did not let her finish her sentence as he turned her around and pushed against the car door. His arms tightened on either side of her, but Leena did not feel trapped. He trailed kisses on her neck, slowly, lightly l.i.c.k.i.n.g, softly s.u.c.k.i.n.g. "We gotta stop here, Devin...." She whispered looking at the surroundings. They were still in the open space and if her brother caught her, it will turn out to be the most embarrassing moment in her life. Reluctantly, Devin pulled back seeing her wariness.
"Let's go." She pulled him into the house.
The moment they went inside, Leena cleared her throat for attention but there was no reaction. Wilbur was watching TV while Jane was immersed in her laptop plugging her headphones.
"Wilbur Hayes!" Leena shouted all of a sudden startling everyone.
"What?" Instead of looking at Leena, Wilbur gazed at Devin questioning him.
Devin mouthed 'I don't know' with a shrug. It's out of his mind to guess Leena's behavior.
"What's your problem now?" Wilbur asked in a lazy tone.
"My husband has come here for the first time after getting married to your sister and there is no one to receive in the family. Is this how your family treats the only son-in-law of Francis Hayes? I am offended by your hospitality." Leena yelled.
"Drama queen," Wilbur muttered and signaled Jane to come here to receive Devin formally. Otherwise, this brat would complain to Francis and he would come for his life.
"Welcome to our house, brother-in-law," Wilbur said but Devin seems to be deaf to the world now. Husband! She called me husband and defending me in front of her own family.
"Babylicious? Are you there?" Devin snapped out of her thoughts when Leena squeezed his arm.
"Umm. I was a little out of my thoughts."
"It's okay." Leena smiled and her gaze turned serious when she looked at Jane and Wilbur. "Prepare the dinner for my husband."
Shaking their heads, Wilbur and Jane left the place.
Throughout the dinner, both Devin and Leena were acting lovey-dovey which irked the rest of the three but they did not mind. Finally, when the dinner was completed, they exhaled a sigh. As they were ready to go home, Reese joined.
"I did not bring my car. I will join with you guys."
Jane immediately pulled Reese by her dress. "She will stay with us, You guys continue." No wonder Resse still doesn't have a boyfriend.
"I have to go," Reese whispered.
"Shut your mouth and stay here. I have work with you." Jane whispered back.
"Alright," Reese said.
Leena winked at Jane silently thanking her. Throughout the journey, the atmosphere in the car was heated. Leena was smiling, blushing like an idiot all the way. Are we going to do it today or he has some other plans? OMG! I am excited. She closed her eyes with her hands feeling shy.
