Just when Leena opened the door, her face turned ashen, seeing the man sitting next to Devin. Her face turned rigid, which didnot go unnoticed by Ethan and Devin. She could feel her disdain directing towards Ethan. Although Devin doesn't want Leena to confront Ethan, she to know the truth behind her accident.
''Leena, come here_.''
The door was shut with a loud bang before words came out of Devin's mouth. Devin sighed, dropping on the bed.
''She hates me deep down inside,'' Ethan muttered, his head hung low in shame when the memories of that night flashed before him. Leena's hatred towards him has a reason, and Ethan can't deny it.
''You deserve it.'' Devin retorted, gazing at nowhere. Leena rarely hates, and when she does, she hates murderously.
''I know.'' Ethan directed a scathing self-mockery at himself. ''I wish to talk and apologize to Leena wholeheartedly.'' Lifting his head, Ethan glanced at Devin, his eyes burning red. ''Can you do me a...forget it..'' Ethan wanted to ask if Devin can convince Leena to talk with him, but then again, a question popped into his mind. Why would Devin help him? After all, they are mortal enemies.
''I would never get salvation in my life. I will take my leave.'' With heavy heart, Ethan got up to leave, and before he opened the door to step out, Devin's voice reverberated across the walls. ''Wait!''
Ethan turned around in disarray, and the following words Devin uttered were an utter surprise to his soul.
''I will talk to her.'' Devin neither showed mercy nor favored Ethan. He can never forget the things he has done to Leena. He long wanted to tell the truth to Leena about her accident, but circ.u.mstances didnot urge him.
''Are you for real?'' Ethan asked in surprise. He didnot expect his mortal enemy to agree to it.
''But I cannot promise.'' Added Devin.
''Thank you.'' Ethan genuinely thanked Devin. His heart still hurts to see his love for someone else, but he accepted the truth that he is not the main lead of Leena's story. Devin might be the villain of his story, but he knew what sort of a person he is.
''I am sure Leena will listen to your words.'' Opening the door, Ethan left, believing he would get a positive reply, if not today, at least someday. He hoped to see Leena the moment he walked out, but he found no trace of her. He felt sad, but a part of him mocked himself. Why would she stay? She avoids him like the plague.
....
After he got a message from Devin, Wilbur brought Leena to Devin's room after a lot of convincing. He knew Leena's hatred towards Ethan, and infact, he is also in the same boat, but it's time she learns the actual person behind her accident.
The atmosphere turned distant and cold all of a sudden. Wilbur silently left the room to let them have a conversation.
''Come here, Leena!'' Devin ordered. He didnot like her cold and indifferent gaze directed towards him, and to top it, she was sitting far away from him as if he has done the biggest crime.
Leena's fists tightened over the dress. She didnot like Devin's commanding tone. If it were some other day, she wouldn't have agreed, but Devin is a patient, and she doesn't want him to move around. So, she reluctantly got up and walked towards him.
''Why did you close the door shut?'' Devin asked and yanked her to the bed.
''You know it already.'' She remained aloof, maintaining a distance from Devin. Is he siding over that man? The humiliation, betrayal, her accident, Leena cannot forget those memories. ''Are you perhaps thinking of reconciling because he is your cousin?'' Her voice had a mocking edge as she spoke.
Devin laughed, looking at her to see how she would take it. He held her hand, which she swatted away. ''Look at me, Leena.''
''Why are you supporting him!'' Leena glared at him, the restraints of her energy rippling at his humor. She can't tolerate Ethan's presence at all, and the dearest person to her heart is not ''I don't like him. I hate him.''
''Neither do I,'' Gently, Devin turned her chin and looked straight into her eyes, burning with fury. ''Curb your anger, darling.''
''Devin! I don't want to talk to him_.''
''Do you know the whole truth of your accident?'' He questioned, putting an end to her thoughts.
''I said it's Ethan and his ex-girlfriend.'' Curtly, she answered.
''What?'' A surprise filled over her face. ''It can't be. Casey told it was Ethan_.''
''She lied to you.'' Devin continued. ''A nameless person made a pact with Casey. That is, to bring you to the cliff. It was a plan to kill you.''
Leena was caught on the hoop for a second. She remembered climbing up the cliff, but suddenly two bulky men pushed her before reaching the top. ''H_ow did you know?''
Devin explained the incident that happened a few months back. He didnot leave any details because he doesn't want to keep secrets between them.
''So, you are speculating the person who tried to kill mom was the same who tried to harm me?'' The revelation has taken her breath away. Why does that person hate us? How powerful is that person that Francy is not able to find for years? Is thre a possibility that Devin's shot linked with it?
''Yes, but we don't have a solid proof.''
Leaning her head on Devin's right arm, Leena whispered. ''I can't bring myself to feel sympathy towards Ethan.'' She whispered. He might not be behind the accident, but she can never forget the vulgar words and the humiliation he has given that night.
''You are wrong again, Sweetheart.'' Devin gently c.a.r.e.s.sed her head as he spoke. ''I am no telling you to feel sorry for him. The time has come to tell you the truth.''
Leena smiled, her heart filled with happiness. The most incredible wealth a woman can have is an understanding husband. Her thoughts suddenly interrupted when her mobile beeped with a notification message. [Harls: File ready]
''Where?'' Devin didnot want to part away with her. When did he turn into a clingy husband? He wondered ''Can't you stay?'' He asked with hope.
''I am going to meet Harley.'' Planting a kiss on his lips, Leena winked before she left.
''No, Leena!'' Even walls turned a deaf ear to Devin's screams. ''She is definitely up to something,'' Devin muttered and dropped on the bed with nothing else to do.
...
Leena strolled into a restaurant along with Nick. Harley has already arrived, sitting over a table watching 5 minutes crafts over her mobile.
''Hey, Harls.'' Leena waved, taking a seat. ''Did you bring the file I asked?''
''Hey, Leena.'' Putting aside her mobile, Harley greeted Leena before handing over the file to Leena. '''Not many people in our company know about Devin's business trip. Director Daniel, Art Director, Andrea, Creative Director, Steven, Fashion Designer, Ariel.''
''How are they in person? I mean, do they have any conflicts with Devin?'' Scanning their profiles, Leena questioned. Their names and address are enough to pull their entire biography.
''As far as I know, Devin moves friendly with all the four people in the office,'' Harley said. She still doesn't know how the file is helpful for Leena because the four people have high standards, and they are not the sort of people who wish her brother to be dead.
''Will it work?'' Nick asked, stepping into the car.
''I don't want to leave any single clue,'' Leena said. Her hands itched to bring the person to ruins. The place Devin had an accident was isolated, and Surveillance technologies were not in range.
''What will you do with them now?''
''Magic. Don't disturb me for a while.'' Getting down from the car, Leena went to the bedroom and closed the door shut. Opening her laptop, she directly hacked into the New York City police department.
She checked the CCTV footage for the past ten days of the four people. She didnot leave a single clip that the surveillance cameras were range. For that matter, Leena didnot find anything suspicious about Daniel, Steven, and Ariel except Andrea. It was not anything suspicious about Andrea, but her movements were a little funny.
''Why is she going to a red-light district. Is she that type of woman?'' She giggled and thought of informing Devin. When Leena almost assumed they were of no use, suddenly, a thought stuck on her brain. ''She is going to the red-light district to have s.e.x!'' In a s.e.x war, thoughtlessness is the weapon people use to trade secrets. She has experienced with Devin. At the peak of her o.r.g.a.s.m, Devin makes her spill the secrets he wanted. ''What if someone used Andrea?''
A smile curved on Leena's lips. Did Andrea spill it? Only way to find is to meet her.
