Kurt stood there numb in a state of stupefaction. Heartbeat hammered into his brain at the sudden closeness of her. His first instinct led him to push her away, and when he did, he felt her hug more intense this time as if she wanted to crush his bones. Never Kurt felt helpless in his life.
''You can continue your romance in the bedroom.'' With a start, Kurt's attention shifted to the man standing by the yellow cab. Romance? Kurt wanted to strangle the man for making such a nefarious comment. Can't he look and tell he was forced into a hug? With one tug, Kurt forcefully pushed Kyle off his embrace and stood three steps away from her. He was glad she didnot attempt to attack him this time. ''I will take care of your matter later.'' He shot on her.
''Who are you?'' Kurt asked, pointing his eyes to the fat man.
''The cab driver.'' He pointed his thumb to the car before addressing Kurt. ''This girl stepped into my taxi without a single penny.'' The driver explained, a scowl on his face. Her dress sense appeared to be vibrant until he asked for his cab fare.
''Did you?'' Kurt snapped at Kyle, and her silence confirmed his questions.
''You are unbelei..forget it.'' He wanted to trim her brain for her carelessly roaming but then backed off. He called the security guard, who was in a daze of the incidents happening around him until Kurt's blaring voice knocked him out of the senses. Kurt then informed him to look after the driver's business. He went inside, giving a stern glance at Kyle; neither he asked her to follow him nor asked to leave. Kurt didnot let the driver drop her at her house, which means he is allowing her into the home. With a smile, she followed behind him.
Kurt crossed her arms when she stood in front of him. ''Why?'' He questioned.
Kyle felt Kurt's question a little hypothetical. Is he asking about the hug or for stepping into the cab without money? She chose to act dumb. ''What, why? I don't understand.''
''Don't try to act innocent. Why did you..'' He was contemplating with appropriate words to ask why she hugged him earlier, but the thought alone turned his face red. ''Forget it. I_I will drop you at your house. Let's go.''
''I will stay here for today.'' It was not a question. Kyle made a direct statement which frightened Kurt further.
''What..no! You cannot stay_''
''I am hungry. Can I have something to eat?'' She cut him off with his naggings. Her priority is to feed her stomach now. That stupid woman didnot even let her take a bite, treating her as untouchable.
Kurt didnot know how to react now to the shocks he was receiving tonight. At first, she came to his house without invitation, and he is still not aware of how she managed to find the address. Next, she hugged him, and now, she is shamelessly asking for food. Can I throw her outside? Forget it! He already made a mistake letting her inside in the first place.
''Only for today, you will stay here. I will throw you out of this house tomorrow morning.'' In an annoyed mood, Kurt led her to the dining room.
As if he has taken a babysitting job, he was filling the plate of Kyle's, and she was eating sumptuously. ''What am I doing?'' He internally mocked himself. The dinner went by silence, or so Kurt thought when he heard Kyle's voice, a voice laced with pain. ''Kurt.''
''What happened? Is food not liking to your taste?'' He asked with concern.
''Is it my mistake that I am born as an illegitimate daughter?'' Kyle asked a question out of Kurt's imagination.
''What?'' He didnot understand why she brought a strange question.
''Nothing.'' Kyle shook her head and dug into the food. She is having a happy time here with him, and it would spoil her mood if she brings that woman's topic. ''The food is delicious. I can eat this dish every day. Can you make it tomorrow before I leave?'' She asked in anticipation.
''Do you want me to throw you out of the house right now?'' He barked. Is she thinking of me as her servant?
''Ah!'' Kyle closed her ears shut. ''Fine, fine. I am sorry. You don't need to make it.''
''You better be.'' Rest of the dinner, Kyle didnot talk while Kurt was seriously thinking about Kyle's earlier statement. After dinner, he showed her the room she will be staying in for tonight. His heart pained to see a woman occupying one of his rooms. Only tonight! He thought to himself.
When Kyle was about to close the door, Kurt called her. ''Kyle.''
''What?''
''There is no such thing as illegitimate children, only illegitimate parents,'' Kurt said. ''Good night.'' With that, he turned and left the room.
When the cab driver asked for the drop location, the first person in her mind was him—immense happiness built in her when she saw him at the house entrance. With the pent-up emotions she underwent earlier, there was no way Kyle could handle her feelings, and right after seeing him, she dashed towards him and hugged him. ''Is it a sign that I have completely fallen for him?'' Kyle confessed to herself.
While Kyle was happy that she admitted her feelings to herself, a red flag raised in her head. ''He doesn't like girls.'' Kyle cried in defeat. ''How do I work this out with him?''
....
On the other hand, Kurt made sure he closed the bedroom door properly before going to bed. He can't risk another attack from that woman. She is taking advantage of him in every situation she gets.
Kurt closed his eyes, but the image of Kyle hugging him kept replaying in his head. ''What the hell are you doing to me, Loose case!'' His resolve was slowly breaking without his awareness.
....
The following day, Kurt tiredly got up and went into the kitchen to make coffee but was startled when she saw the girl here. ''What the hell are you doing here?'' He asked in exasperation.
''Ah! Nothing.'' Kyle smiled, raising the coffee jar. ''I was making coffee for us. Go, and take a shower. I will make the breakfast.'' Having said that, she began searching for the ingredients in the refrigerator.
Kurt: '' ''
Does she think that it is her home? Controlling her rage, Kurt held Kyle's and began dragging her out of the kitchen. ''I don't need your services. Make your breakfast at your home.''
''You are hurting my hands.'' A warmth settled on her face as she looked at his protective hands wrapped around her.
''I am not even applying a little pressure on you.'' Before Kurt opened the door to throw her out, the intercom buzzed, and when he looked at the screen, he felt another headache steeped into his house. ''No way.''
''Any problem?''
''Nothing.'' Kurt turned back and shoved her into the bedroom. ''Stay here for a while. Don't step out this room until my orders.''
''But why?'' She innocently asked.
''No more questions.'' With that, Kurt closed the door. Taking a breath, he composed himself and opening the door.
''My son!'' Kurt heard his dad's screaming voice, followed by a bone-crushing hug. ''I missed you.''
''Likewise, dad.'' Kurt disembarked himself from the hug. ''W_hy are you here?''
''What kind of question was that? I can walk into my son's house anytime.'' Arnold shoved his son aside and walked in, looking at every nook and canny to find the person he wanted to see.
''What are you searching for?'' Kurt skeptically asked as his dad opened the guest room door. To Arnold's annoyance, it was empty.
''I am just inspecting if you are keeping the house clean.'' He shrugged, and at last, with all the other rooms inspected, Arnold stood in front of Kurt's bedroom door.
''No, dad.'' Kurt blocked his dad from opening the door. ''I don't like anyone entering into my bedroom, and you know that.''
''You are right.'' Arnold nodded. ''Let's talk in the living room then.'' He waited for his son to buy his lie, and the moment Kurt took a step forward, Arnold tricked him, unlocked the door in a split second ''Gotcha! I caught you!'' He screamed when he found the person he is looking for.
''Is it you, Kyle?'' Arnold woke up to a call from the security guard from his son's house. His happiness knew no bounds when he learned a girl is staying in his son's home. He drove her to see the girl without any delay but didnot expect it to be Kyle. Finally, my daughter-in-law has appeared.
Damn it! Kurt cursed internally. There is no escape now.
