Like a spectator, Leena listened to the bitter truths that were unraveling one by one. Earlier she wondered why Devin ordered orange juice at the last second. It's because Rosalie used all the poison in banana juice and didn't have another one? Did he calculate every move of her beforehand? He sure knows to give masterstrokes.
Now she understood the reason for Devin's busy schedule. Along with the company celebrations, he has been dealing with Rosalie's matter as well. Just like her mom, she believed Rosalie was a kind person. She approached to find Ruth without knowing she had entered straight into the lion's den. For the first time, someone deceived her right under her eye. Rosalie even tricked her into getting the invitation of WD. What a filthy woman? Like mother, like son.
''My mother's car accident and my accident at the cliff was your doing?'' Leena took a step forward towards Rosalie with killing intent. The countless nights of pain and cries was all given by this woman?
''My bad that you both survived.'' Rosalie took malicious pleasure in irritating her. She doesn't care anymore if these people have seen through her identity. Let them know how wicked I can become.
''I took pity of you both, and decided to give a painless death this time. I plotted a wonderful plan. I fed rotten food to my daughter for a couple of days. I admitted her for appendicitis when infact, she was only infected with food poison. I bribed the doctor with a hefty amount. I stayed in the hospital and befriended your mother. I pulled out all the daily activities you do from your mother. Ultimately I got a hand on the invitation of WD.''
''What did you achieve in the end? Standing in front of us like a prisoner.'' Francis calmly asked, suppressing the urge to throttle her neck.
''What did you achieve by killing my innocent son?'' Rosalie questioned back. The sight of Francis brought her the bitter memories of her son helplessly crying for help in the fire. Her fists clenched tightly, her eyes glowed with savage fire. She never cared for her husband. Her world revolved around her son alone. If she had come a little early from the shift on that day, she would have saved his son from the fire. ''You are worse than a murderer.''
Innocent son? Francis wanted to punch the woman right on his face. ''Look, your son_'' Before Francis spat out the truth, Devin squeezed his hand. Time has not yet come to give her hope.
''You wrecked my life, shattered my identity. You killed my son. You left me with Nothing but revenge!'' She paused, choking back her tears. ''Revenge is the only reason I am living my life. On the day my son died, I took an oath to destroy you. I killed my friend. I took her identity. I planned and attacked Heather. I planned your brother's family's death. Unfortunately, the kids didnot go to Europe. They survived.''
Wilbur's throat was closing up. For the first time, Cutie saw a teardrop rolling from her dad's eyes. She hugged his thigh for her dear life. ''Don cly dad..'' She gently patted his leg. Jane squeezed his left hand to console him. Wilbur would tear up whenever their parents were brought up. The person who had killed them is right in front of him. She could understand the emotional turmoil going inside him.
''You killed my parents!'' He fed the bitter truth to his brain, remembering his mother's cheery smile and his father's happy laughter he last saw at the airport. He threw tantrums at them for not taking him to Europe.
'Business trips are boring, my dear son. Take care of your little sister until we come back. Don't torture your uncle Francis. I will bring your favorite chocolates when I return. Next time, we will go on a family trip together.' His mother said in a coaxing voice. His father ruffled his hair like he always does before boarding the plane. Wilbur was counting the days hoping for their parent's return. A week later, Francis took him to the burial ground without giving him a clue. His little heart shattered, seeing the two bodies draped in a white shroud. There was no smile on his mother's face, no happiness on his father's face. Wilbur cried and cried, collapsing next to them. He begged his mother to give him chocolates, pleaded with his father to ruffle his hair. But neither of them opened their eyes. ''Why did you..'' Wilbur was unable to complete his words.
''Because it was fun to watch Francis mourning over his brother's death.'' Rosalie proudly admitted. She then turned to face Francis. ''Your grief, your mournings, your efforts in taking care of two children, your struggles to keep Heather alive on the death bed made my heart happy. I wanted to see that in your face every day. So, I married Max to stay close to you. I knew where your next switch was. I tried several times to kill her, but you protected her safely. Fortunately, I got an opportunity two decades later. But too bad she also survived.''
''No matter I live or die today.'' Her voice raised to an edge. ''I am not letting this opportunity waste. I will avenge my son's death!'' Noticing all their attention focused on her story, Rosalie swiftly turned around and kicked Nick on his knee. Caught off guard, Nick fell onto the ground. The gun on his hands flew upwards. Rosalie jumped up and seized it. Everything happened in a blink of an eye.
Leena's eyes went wide in realization.
''Watch out, Leena!'' Devin shouted, running to her, and before Leena shunned Rosalie's attack, her front head was at the barrel.
Leena held her breath in anxiety. Her family, friends, were standing close to her, but nobody dared to take a step forward.
The thirty armed forces surrounded Rosalie at a godspeed, aiming their guns at her. ''Drop the guns!'' Rosalie ordered, pressing the gun to Leena's forehead sharply.
The armed men didnot drop the guns.
''Don't you care for your wife's life, Devin?'' Rosalie stared at Leena's eyes. ''Your men haven't dropped the guns!'' Rosalie kept her finger at the trigger, ready to pull when...
''Stop!'' Devin shouted. ''Stop it, please..'' He pleaded.
