A week passed since Ruth was admitted to the hospital. The bite marks in her body were so severe that Kurt had to make an immediate decision. He straight away sent her to the hospital that night.
On the eighth day, she was sent to the high-security prison after the judgment. Devin didnot let Ruth's real identity expose. That would be a cake-walk opportunity for Enger to know about his mother. So, Ruth remained as Rosalie, a stepmother, who tried to kill her stepdaughter out of jealousy. Max and Emerie made a fuss, but the evidence all proved otherwise in the court.
Meanwhile, after sending Ruth to the high-security prison, everybody returned to their normal lives except for one person. It was Kurt.
Kurt closed the file in vexation. His gaze barely lingered on the notification preview on his mobile for a couple of seconds before a sigh escaped from his lips. Since morning, he has been receiving irresistible calls and messages from one particular person. "I should change your number to brain eater." He grumbled. As usual, he ignored the calls, which he had been doing since morning. Sometime later, Kurt got a call from his love. His frustration replaced with happiness in seconds. He immediately got up and went to the hospital to pick Kyle.
''Hi, Loose Case.'' Kurt teased and kissed her cheek after she approached him
.
''Hello, Mr. Sweedish Butler.'' Kyle nonchalantly said. Without sparing him a glance, she stepped into the car. Her laugh stifled, noticing his face turning a shade of dark. ''Don't frown. It's not good for your face. Okay?'' Kyle massaged his temples that crinkled.
''Leena! I will kill you one day!'' He shouted, tightening his grip over the steering.
''Fine, fine.'' She giggled. ''Go, and start a war with Devin first.''
Kurt grumbled like a grumpy bear until they reached the restaurant.
Kyle linked her arms into Kurt's like a clingy girlfriend and walked along with him. A smile plastered across his face seeing her possessiveness. They have been dating for around a month now, yet it feels new and fresh to him every day. His feelings are growing more and more with each passing day for this loose case.
"Are you free tomorrow? How about we go to the ice skating rink." Kyle asked, her mouth watered at the variety of starters served on the platter.
"Ice skating is boring, Kyle." Kurt dismissed the waiter before he served the dish to Kyle. "How about Statue of Liberty?" Kurt's voice laced with eagerness. He put the marinated peppers, a spoon full of crunchies, olives into her plate. "Speaking of Statue of Liberty, I forgot to tell you. Elysian has once given a puzzle, and it took me a month to crack, and the clue is in the statue of liberty. That crazy nut cake is roaming in this city!"
"But sir haven't yet caught that crazy dude, isn't it?" Kyle teased. When Elysian demanded Kurt dress up like a girl if he doesn't crack the puzzle, Kyle imagined Kurt in a see-through girly dress though inappropriate. "But one thing is not clear to me. You haven't met or seen Elysian. How did you know it's a man?"
"Because.." Kurt swallowed the grilled pineapple by force which Kyle added to his plate with love. "Once upon a time, he tortured and played with Jasper.''
"How is it linked to Elysian gender?''
"Because he asked Reese's hand in marriage," Kurt said.
''Oh My God! He is so...I don't have words'' Kyle laughed again. "So, you concluded him to be a man thereafter. But how does he knows Reese?"
"What else? He has a grudge against me, so he targeted one of my friend's sisters," Kurt shrugged a matter of factly. "I told you he is born with loose screws in his brain. Let's not talk about him and spoil our_."
Kurt halted when his mobile started ringing. He fished out his phone from his pocket, assuming it was a call from the office. Upon seeing the contact name, Kurt pressed the lock button.
"Who is it?" Kyle asked. ''Take it if it is urgent.''
"It's just a spam call," Kurt lied. Post dinner, Kurt dropped Kyle at home and went to the prison to check on the ancient criminal.
Until morning, his mobile flooded with several messages and missed calls from one person until he replied.
...
The next day morning...
A car pulled in front of the high-security prison. A woman stepped out of the car elegantly. ''Hey, Kurt! Didn't sleep well? You got dark circles'' The woman smiled at Kurt, who was standing at the front gate of the prison.
''And all thanks to you, Aunt Heather. You have successfully irritated me with your calls and messages for the whole day.'' He scoffed. ''I haven't slept for an hour properly.'' Kurt guided inside the penitentiary detention center, passing through the security guards.
''You should have agreed to help me when I properly asked,'' Heather said, walking alongside him. She could see the orange dress code reflecting the walls of the prison here.
''Even after knowing that it's illegal?'' Kurt questioned. They walked past the prison cells and stopped at a specific isolation cell. A man wearing a white coat was sitting outside, greeted him.
''He is my friend, Craig, Neuropsychologist. I explained the situation to him for a better expertise.'' Kurt introduced his friend to Heather.
''Hello, I am Craig.'' The man in the white coat introduced himself to him.
''Hello.'' Heather shook her hands with Craig. "I am doctor Heather. Thanks for your assistance.''
''Pleasure is mine to assist a senior renowned doctor,'' Craig said with a smile on his face. ''Everything here will remain confidential. I assure you.''
''Thank you.''
After the brief pleasantries, Kurt turned to Heather and said. ''You very well know this is unofficial. So, we need to finish this fast.''
''Can I talk with her alone?'' Heather pleaded. She is scared to ask personal questions with two people around.
''Impossible. I spent all my influence to get permission for three hours. We already spent an hour to put for putting into a deep trance.'' Kurt denied instantly. ''I am responsible if something happens here. I need to be here.''
Heather gritted her teeth. ''Fine. Open the door then.''
Kurt opened the prison door and went inside. Heather and doctor Craig followed him after.
A pale woman was lying on the bed, and her eyes closed shut like she was in some trance.
''She is currently under deep relaxation,'' Craig said, walking towards the woman on the bed. He put a hand on top of her head, ''Hello, Ruth. I am Craig. I here to meet you again.'' He gently called her name.
After a thirty-second pause, he heard her reply. ''Hi, Craig.''
''Mind if you tell me your full name?'' He asked in a gentle tone.
''Ruth Vaughan.''
''But aren't you, Rosalie?'' Heather asked, her tone soft like a lullaby.
''No,'' Ruth said. ''I took her identity after Won-Shik, and I killed her.''
''Why did you kill her?'' Heather questioned. Although she was desperate to know the answer, her tone didnot differ.
''Because she witnessed Heather's accident,'' Ruth said.
''I can conclude you don't like Heather. So, we will leave her matter aside.'' Heather said. ''Let's talk about you. Two decades back, you went with Won-Shik to a party on a cruise ship to enjoy, you remember that?"
''Hmmm..only Won-Shik went. I sent him there."
''Why? Can you recall what happened on that night?"
''Hmm.'' Ruth nodded in her trance. ''I wanted to destroy Heather and Francis's relationship.''
Finally, she is on track, Heather muttered under her breath. She desperately prayed she would get all her answers today.
