Chapter 457 - I Hack Into People's Minds

Just by seeing the message of the hefty money emptied from his account, Enger's heart leaped into his throat, causing him mute in horror. To worsen the situation, the media's news of his company being cornered has drained the color out of his face.

'The world's leading pharma Leius's shady business shocked the world at large.'

'The current CEO of the Leius pharma labs is only the stand-in CEO.'

'Breaking news: The face of the Leius labs was revealed to be Enger Cassius Lennox, who fled away from Mexico after killing his father in the fire accident at the age of ten.'

'We have thoroughly tested the drugs.. The company will be banned, and their supporting hospitals will be blacklisted! Quote on quote by the FBI.'

Enger could hear the shuffling footsteps surrounding the house. He knew in no time they would barge into his home to take him. His throat constricted at the foresight of his dream soon burning into ashes. How did this happen when everything was under his control?

The retreating figure climbing the steps at once stopped and turned around. Enger didnot notice or probably has turned a blind eye in the past, but the withering scorn on Leena's face was palpable at the moment.

''Liked my gift?'' Leena mocked.

''How?'' Enger managed a word through gritted teeth. He could have brought people with his money, but Leena seized it, making him zero.

Every day, he double-checks the laptop to ensure it's not connected to any internet source before giving it to Leena. He knew Leena could not be trusted because he had experienced it once, but he didnot learn his lesson. One innocent smile, and two sweet words, Enger got flattered and forgot that her devious fox ploys were as violent as the attacks of a wolf.

''Hacker is a wizard with internet around is a myth. That's what you believed.'' Descending the stairs, Leena made her way towards him. ''Professionals hack the system. I hack into people's minds.''

''I concealed the disgust and wore the mask of an innocent maiden to make you believe in me. Infact, getting access to your floor was not to relax in the SPA.'' She smiled. ''The electricity breakdown five days back was not an accident. Thanks to Morvena, I successfully passed the message to Devin.''

Enger clenched his fists. If he had investigated why the laptop was still hot without snubbing the thought, he wouldn't have been in this position. A small mistake has costed his fortune.

''Coming to your money, my brother-in-law couldn't hack the satellite password. So, I asked him to click forgot password. The first security question was your favorite profession when you were young.'' Leena's heart beat out of her chest as she heard the footsteps nearing the house.

Vortex of anger swirled inside Enger. Even when Leena asked him about his favorite book, it didnot create doubt in him. Infact, he felt happy that she was leaning towards him. Leena planned it so cunning that he could put a tail behind her and call her a fox. ''I..I trusted you.''

''Not my mistake.'' She shrugged.

The door opened, and one by one, the military forces entered the house. Seeing the fully armed forces, the servants inside the house raised their hands in defeat. Before Enger knew what had happened, he was rounded up.

Leena loved the entry of these armed forces. It looked like a Hollywood action movie. Of course, she deserves it. This is the least credit these people can do to recognize her efforts.

Feeling a presence behind her back, Leena turned around and saw Devin's face. Despite being in a state of despair, Enger's eyes didnot leave Leena's sight. He didnot miss the smile on her face, a genuine smile he had never seen, giving it to him. He has lost everything. What's life without her? Enger's fingers brushed past the loaded gun on the back pocket with a thought around.

She pressed her lips tight to fight the chaos of her happiness. But Devin's appearance was a question to ask. Lost weight, bags under eyes, tired face, beard grown to her hated length, he more looked like a teenage boy rejected by a girl.

Meanwhile, Devin imagined a weight loss figure, pale face, sunken cheeks, but his sweetheart exceeded his expectations. Infact, her face was glowing, unlike him. So, she didnot miss him? ''What are you waiting for?'' He mused irritatingly.

Crossing her arms, Leena stood like a statue. She gave him a look of 'what's with that attitude of yours.'

When she didnot attempt to make a move, Devin has to tone down his voice. ''Will you give me the honor to take you back, my lady?''

''Yes, Mylord.'' Smiling to herself, she dashed, colliding her body against him. Automatically, his hands wrapped around her waist. ''I missed you.'' She whispered, inhaling his scent to feel home.

''I missed you too—a lot. I couldn't sleep without you.'' He kissed the top of her hair and looked past Enger. In a matter of seconds, Devin saw envy, hatred, the mixed emotions directing at him.

Leena shyly smiled.

''You gained weight. Looks like you didnot miss me.''

''That's because..'' Leena closed her mouth shut. She wanted to go on a hunger strike, but the little one demanded food every one hour in large quantities. ''Aren't you taking me home? I am starving.''

'Home.'' He muttered, a smile on his face as he took her out. On the way, Leena saw Kurt was going into the house with a loaded gun in his hands. Their eyes met, and Kurt turned his head to the left and walked as fast as he could to avoid her eyes. 'For how long?'

''Devin,'' Leena called him when she remembered her friends here. ''Morvena is in the basement_''

''She is taken to the hospital.''

She nodded, thinking of visiting her later when she returns to New York. Before Leena hopped onto the helicopter, a gunshot echoed into her ears. Her footsteps halted at once. Was it Enger's? Did he...

''It's none of our business. Let's go.'' Devin closed her ears.
