Chapter 556 - Propose

Succeeding days were back to normal where Candice left too and went back to country D. Meanwhile, Cali and Rui were back to school since Cali wanted to finish the culinary courses she took.

"Rui, I think you should stop studying with me. Why not check Yang Global's subsidiary hospital in this country instead sweetheart? Xander is right, you should check and supervise it while we stay here. I can manage on my own in the university. You will drop me and pick me up from school anyway" Cali commented because she was aware that Rui was not fond of studying culinary at all. He was doing it to stay with her, but it was no longer needed since they were in a relationship together.

Rui also thought the same because he too did not want Cali to feel suffocated with his presence.

"Alright let us do that then. I will talk to the teachers today. Finish your food now and let's go back to our class" Rui said with a smile. Cali then continued eating lunch with him at the school canteen. 

Later, after school, she and Rui would go on a double date with Yera and Xander. She also wanted to ask Yera for help on how she should surprise Rui. She wanted to do something memorable with him while she confessed that she had already remembered him.

She already had something in mind though, but it would need at least three days of preparation. After the class, Rui already informed the school administration about him dropping out of school.

Soon they left and were now on their way to the mall where they would take a stroll with Yera and Xander.

"Hmm, I only hope that there will be no more pests around you after I leave" Rui commented with pursed lips referring to men who would try to woo Cali.

Cali chuckled and hugged Rui's arm as she moved closer to lean on him while Rui was driving.

"Of course, I will personally tell them to go away since I'm already married" Cali whispered unconsciously that made Rui suddenly stop the car at the side.

"Married?" Rui burst.

Cali wanted to pull her hair for being careless. She smiled at Rui and said, "Yeah, I considered myself married since I only see myself being with you Rui."

Rui knitted his brows. He looked confused so Cali cupped his face and asked, "Will you marry me, Rui Dee?"

It was so sudden that Cali too did not know why she suddenly said that. There was only silence and Cali got worried seeing Rui's eyes glistened with tears.

"What is this?! Why are you proposing to me first?" Rui complained, his eyes brimming with tears. It was too unexpected. He wanted to do it soon, but he was worried that Cali would be surprised since they've just recently gotten into a relationship.

Cali wiped the tears on his face as she murmured, "I know, but I can't wait to be next to you for the rest of my life. I love you so much."

Rui was so speechless that he just pulled Cali to his embrace and sealed her lips with a passionate kiss. He was the one to release her as well, or else he could have taken her then and there at that moment because of the increased intensity in his body not to mention his burning emotions and desire for her at that moment.

He moved and grabbed something in his car. It was Cali's engagement ring that he was planning to give her back at any moment.

He opened the small box and put the diamond ring back on her finger.

"It's beautiful," Cali gasped. She was too overwhelmed to have that ring back on her finger. 

"We should buy wedding rings too," Cali whispered excitedly knowing Rui also kept their wedding rings with him.

Rui chuckled and could not help but tease, "Why do I feel like you, my sweetheart, are in a hurry to tie me up?"

"Yes, I am. And I'm intentionally making it obvious. Time is gold, so I don't want to waste it. I want to meaningfully spend it with someone I love. With you," Cali whispered as she adoringly touched the ring on her finger.

'Welcome back dear. You look good back in my finger. So sparkly!' she mused while she stared at him.

Rui stepped on the gas and went back on the road with a happy and contented heart. He did not need Cali's memory back because he would create new ones with her in the present and their future, together.

They soon arrived at the mall and Cali excitedly hugged Yera.

She even pulled her so they could walk ahead of the boys.

"I have this idea to surprise Rui but I'm not sure it will be good enough," she whispered and told Yera about it.

Meanwhile, Xander suspiciously looked at the two women who were walking ahead of them.

"What's with the two of them?" he asked Rui.

Rui chuckled and said, "Cali is probably telling Yera how she proposed marriage to me all of a sudden." Rui boasted.

Xander stopped walking and looked at him in a daze.

"For real bro?" He asked with rounded eyes and Rui answered with a nod accompanied by a wide grin.

"Oh, that's great! I'm so happy for you!" Xander burst out and hugged Rui and lifted him with his arms on Rui's waist, swirling him.

"Hey!! Put me down, people will think we're a crazy couple!" Rui scolded as he reddened in embarrassment.

"What's with those two?" Yera asked as she paused and turned around hearing Xander's voice from behind.

Cali, with a timid smile, murmured, "I proposed to Rui and Xander must be very happy for him."

"Ohh… No wonder my husband is so happy." Yera uttered with a smile. Since her dear husband had a tendency to be a blabbermouth, she hadn't told Xander the good news about Cali remembering Rui because she didn't want him to spoil it. She wanted Cali to be the first to inform Rui.

Cali with Yera laughed, watching how Xander suddenly dropped Rui and scolded him as to why it was Cali who proposed first and not Rui.

"These two are too adorable," Yera whispered as she turned around and pulled Cali to continue their stroll.
