Chapter 20: The Rescue

Azalea Johnson's POV

I can't believe it! Everywhere I go, one of Alex's girlfriends would show up and then tell me stories of how they have been an acquaintance of his. I was so frustrated. I wonder if one of them has his virginity.

Shut your mouth, dirty tramp, I said to myself as I was trying to recall what I just told myself. I could not believe it. I cared for him. I was genuinely scared for him and I thought I have gone mad with love.

I was running outside the door as I pushed the door after the door to get out of the building. The last thing I wanted was to be in the same room with him and I could not take any more pleasure than hurt in my chest.

after I was away from the building, I was running away. I don't have any destination in mind but I do what calmed me. so, I went to that center as fast as my legs can carry me.

"Lea!" Alex shouted from a distant and before I knew it, I was running toward the recreation center. I did not care what he would tell. I just need to calm myself right now.

"Go, Away!" I shouted over my shoulder as I was running toward the center. I pushed the door and I went toward the pool. I did not bother to change my clothes. I just wanted to swim and get away from him.

"Why are you getting so emotional, Lea? You're not this weak when you're with Silas or Tom," I mumbled to myself as I went to step inside the hall. The swimming pool was glistening under the dim lights and their lights. I was breathing heavily.

I looked around as no one was there and I went to dive into the water without the stretch that my father told me about. And one thing when I do when I was not on my right mind, I loved to go to the deeper part of the water. 9ft to be exact.

"Lea?!" Alex shouted as I was huffing and puffing against the water. I could not breathe and I could not get to the surface. I was having a cramp in my legs. So much for not stretching, Lea, I cursed myself.

"lea!" Alex shouted as I can hardly hear him. He was standing over the edge of the water as I can see his reflection and I saw it.

I saw Maya, how she stuck herself to Alex and Aria who was kissing Alex's neck and they were smiling seductively over them. Then, I looked at Alex, he was smirking at me, smugly and was about to turn away.

I tried to get to him but the more I tried the more I was sinking to the bottom of the endless ocean of my fear, insecurity, and desperation to be the best that I can be. I saw my mother's sadness when I was applying to go to Sydney, my sister's happiness as she would get married before me and my father's sadness when I told him I wanted to do ballet for the rest of my life.

everything seems so distant now and I was going to drown and no one would ever found me or love even I did get out of the water.

But, suddenly, he was there. Alex was there. He was in front of me as he was floating in the water and the water did not drown him. He was looking at me as I was a fragile little thing that he would be afraid to break. I was reaching out for him and suddenly, a wave of water jolted me toward him.

I was inside a water column, with some air to spare for my breathing. I was breathless and I was looking around the water column. It was magical, almost strange but I know that I would be safe here and I would never want to leave.

"Lea," Alex said as he waved his hand and me. He was sweating furiously as I can see that he was breathing heavily as well. then, I saw his movement. He was flicking his wrists forward and the water column that I was in moving.

I moved toward him. I was looking at him as if he was trying so hard to get me. then, the water stopped and I was standing on my feet as I looked at him, horrified at the sight of water moved in front of me.

then, they were dumped inside the pool and everything went still. I was still trying to make sense of what was happening and I was looking at Alex. He was breathing heavily before I spoke to him.

"that—what—how—who are you?!" I shouted before I can sense that my logic was moving away and I can sense that I was gradually sleeping into darkness now and the last thing I heard was my name.

"Lea, my love,"

Alexander MacWatters' POV

I was running after her as she went out of the door. For someone that was her size, I cannot believe that she ran so fast.

"Lea," I called for her as I saw her running toward the recreation center. I tried to move faster but I felt something in my chest like it was pulling me away and was dragging me down. I grunted but I kept ongoing.

when I reached the center, I went straight to the pool that she was drowning on the first night that we met. I was lucky that time that I can swim but right now, my energy was not giving me that option.

"Lea," I shouted again and as I went to approach the pool, Lea was trashing over the water then she was sinking deep to the floor of the 9ft pool. I grunted my teeth as I need to use my power but what if I got caught. How would I explain to them?

"Damn it," I cursed before I went to the side of the pool and gathered all my strength that I have left. I think my time was drawing near if I don't consummate the marriage and Lea. I have to have her and I need her to be alive, breathing.

I will myself to flow like a water so that they would heed my command. I waved my hands over the pool but nothing happened. I cursed before I tried again and I saw that Lea was completely frozen and still inside the water. She tried to reach out and I was far from her.

I touched the refraction of her hand and suddenly, I felt a rush of energy, stored energy that I wanted to save Lea from any danger and I hoped that I have the right amount of energy to do it. Then I waved my hands and they made a water column around Lea. I willed it to have some open pocket so that Lea could breathe.

when I willed it to get to the surface, I can see Lea now. I sensed sweats were forming around my forehead and I have gripped all my energy to make sure that Lea was safe on the ground.

I waved the water toward me and I put Lea on the ground and I pushed the water onto the pool again. It went still. I was looking at her and was breathing hard. Saving her almost killed me. I wonder why. then, I looked at Lea. She had a horrified expression on her face.

"that—what—how—who are you?!" She stammered before she was blacking out. I went to catch her into my arms and she was looking at me before I murmured my last words at her.

"Lea, My love," I said before she went asleep, shocked at her drowning or perhaps that I could control water. I sighed a relief before I stayed on the floor for a bit with Lea in my arms.

"Sir?" A guard came toward me. He was flashing his torch at me. I smiled before I called her.

I was looking at the New York skyline when the family doctor came to check on my fiancée. I was sipping on my black coffee and I turned to see that she was done with Lea.

"Any news?" I asked her. She was packing her stuff before she looked at me.

"Just a mild concussion and possibly traumatic experience," she said. I nodded at her as I know that feeling. I was traumatic when I first discovered that I can move water but my father has been kind enough to teach me the way of a MacWatters.

"Thank you, Jen," I said to her. She nodded before she went to my side. She gave me some medicine for Lea to take after she woke up.

"give this to her once she wakes up and every 5 hours. It should help her ease the trauma," she said before I nodded. She nodded and went out of the bedroom. I sipped on my coffee again before the doorbell rang.

I went to open the door and it was my lawyer. I smiled at him before he went inside my house.

"I have printed the contract as you wished, sir. Is there anything else that I can do for you?" He asked me as I took the offered envelope. I opened it and scanned the documents and my marriage registration.

"that will be all. Thank you," I said before he nodded and went out of my house. Not that I was being extremely rude but his office was just next block. I went to slam that contract onto the coffee table before I went to Lea's side. She looked peaceful. She did not deserve this craziness in her life.

"My love, please wake up," I whispered to her as I kissed her knuckles, waiting for her to wake up.
