Chapter 15: The Reunion

Ella Lattone's POV

I sighed as I was getting out of the hall after I handed in my quiz to Max. I was smiling because I know that Cameron has been helping me with it. I think I can make sure that I will repay him by going out to dinner with him.

I don't know why but I felt like I was going to meet my in-laws. I hoped they liked me. I was looking around as I was staring at the board, reading the article that I was not interested to do it anyway.

"Have you been waiting for so long that you have to distract yourself by reading the articles?" Cameron said as he was standing next to me before I was rolling my eyes at him. I turned to look at him as he was smirking at me.

Men.

"No, I was waiting for someone that was supposed to be here exactly after the class was over," I said as Cameron was grinning at me.

"Sorry, Ella, but you know how it is. I was busy with work and of course, since I was a TA, I have to make sure that I got the quiz before I can meet you. Max will kill me if I don't grade it before next class," he said as he was smiling at me. I rolled my eyes as I was leaning against the wall.

"So, what did you want to see me for?" I asked him as he was pulling something out from the backpack. He was pulling some kind of box and when he opened it, I gasped.

"For me?" I asked him as I was looking at the ruby necklace that was encircled with tiny diamonds around it. It was beautiful.

"Yes, for you to loan. I wanted my mother to think that I was serious about for the meantime so she can relax and I can get off from her radar for once," he said as he pulled it out before he was looking at me.

"May I?" He asked as I was looking at the necklace. He gestured to it before I blushed.

"Sure," I said as I was turning to bare my neck for him to slip on the necklace easily. My hair was medium length but I let it down today so I have to get it out of his way.

He put the necklace around my neck as I was holding my breath when his fingers were grazing my neck. I felt tiny shivers and fire on the spot that he was touching before I heard a clink.

"Done," he said as he was resting his hands on my shoulders. He should move it but he did not. I cleared my throat before I let my hair fall on my back.

"Well, thank you. I will keep it safe and nothing will happen to it," I said as I felt the heaviness of the necklace on my neck.

"Make sure that you will keep it safe. It was a…sentiment in the family and if you lost it, you must replace it," he said as he was looking at me. I scoffed.

"Let me guess, a few thousand bucks?" I said as I was arching my eyebrow at him. He shook his head.

"Hundred thousand bucks?"

"Think again, Ella," Cameron said as he was crossing his hands in front of his chest, a smirk on his lips. I gulped.

"Millions?" I said before he nodded.

"Now remember, do not let anyone get it or you pay the consequences," he said as he was pointing his finger at me. I nodded at him before he left me there, wondering what will I do if I ever lost it.

Should I tell aunt Lyana and maybe uncle Edmond will help me out.

I shook my head as I was determined to not let him get to me. I can do this and I will keep it safe. I mean, with all the training that I get from aunt Lyana, I think I can keep it safe.

Well, maybe not from his family after all.

The night was coming and I was waiting for him in front of the apartment. I have given him my number so that we can easily communicate with each other. I was pulling the coat even more to my body as the chilly air of the night was coursing through my body.

I sighed as I was looking at the clock on my phone. It was 7 PM and we have to be there at 8 PM. I hope that he would be punctual as I know he was at WWF. A sleek Audi car parked in front of me before the rider got out of the car.

I smiled at Cameron as he was dressing in a suit that looked good on him. I mean, I have seen him wore it a thousand times when he went to work but something about the setting and the reason for him to wear it make it more appealing to him.

"Have you been waiting long?" He asked me as I was looking at him. I smiled before I shook my head as he was putting his hand on my lower back before we were walking to the car. He opened the passenger's seat and I thanked him before I slid inside.

It was warm and toasty that I sighed in content. He went to his driver's side before he sped off to the destination of his family house. I don't know that he was a city boy, NYC to say the least. I thought he was from Seattle.

"I hope you will be strong when you face my family. You will be getting some questions from them that I know you will uncomfortable to answer so you can tell me if they bothered you," he said as he was turning right before he parked in front of the gate that was as tall as a mountain.

I gulped.

"And what kind of question might they ask, if you don't mind telling me?" I asked him before he smirked. He turned to look at me before he winked.

"You'll see." He said before he was punching some numbers into the keypad and we got inside the gated house.

Okay, it was not a house but a fucking mansion.

I was amazed back in Scotland when I first arrived at my uncle Edmond but I never thought that this will be much more than that.

"Welcome to Hayes' Manor," he said in a light tone as he drove the car to the entrance of the mansion. I was gripping the seatbelt as I saw there was someone that was standing by the door. He parked the car before he went out to my side and opened the door for me.

"After you, milady," Cameron said as he was offering his hand that I gladly took it since I was wearing hedges. I was not comfortable enough in them to be walking straight without tripping.

"Master Cam, welcome home," the man that was standing nearby bowed to Cameron before he tucked my hand into his hand.

"Just stick to my side and we will be fine," he whispered to me before he nodded at the bowing man before he straightened up and went to set the car away. I guess he was a valet.

"That's my butler," he whispered before I turned to look at him. How did he do that? Reading my thoughts.

"It's all written on your face. One of the facts why I like you, Ella. I can read you like a book," he said while smiling. I scoffed at him.

"Glad to be your entertainment then," I said as we walked inside the mansion. Cameron took off his coat and I did the same. I was wearing a rather conservative red dress that the sleeves were 3/4 long and it was laced. The dress falls just below my knees and I was wearing matching wedges to complete the look.

For my hair, I just braided to the side so that it will be out of the way. And of course, the heaviness of the necklace around my neck while the pendant was above my chest.

"Cam, you're here. Finally," someone was calling after Cameron as he handed the coats to the servants. I was standing next to him before I saw a petite mid-40s woman was coming at us.

"Mama, how are you?" Cameron said as he was kissing both of the cheeks of his mother. Now I felt like I was out of place. It was a family dinner and I was not one of them.

"Mama, I would like you to meet Ella. Ella, this is my mum, Mia," he introduced us before I turned to look at his mother.

"How do you do? Nice to meet you, ma'am," I said as I was handing out my hand to shake but his mother did the impossible. She pulled me into her arms and kissed my cheeks.

"Welcome, Ella. And don't be such a stranger. You can call me Mum," she said as her eyes were gleaming. I arched my eyebrows as I was looking at her.

"Mum," Cameron warned as he was looking at his mother.

"Ah, silly me. I mean Mia. You can call me Mia," she corrected herself before she pulled me into the living room.

"But when Cam was not around, you can call me Mum," she whispered as she winked at me. I smiled as I was looking at her.

I think I might enjoy the company of this family gathering after all.
