Chapter 14:Eradicating The Root Cause

Although Lin Ke was in distress over his Heroes' levels, he was not in total despair.

That was because he still had a little hope left. If this hope had yet to be destroyed, he would still have a chance in obtaining a huge number of Diamonds.

Yes, indeed. Despite it being a pay-to-win game, it was possible for Lin Ke to obtain a huge number of Diamonds.

However, this was not something to be astonished about.

It was completely normal to give Players a fixed number of Diamonds to get them hooked onto the game.

Generally speaking, if any games were to make such a move, the most common course they would take would be gifting it away through the Arena.

He would certainly be rewarded with Diamonds if he rose through the ranks and broke his own personal record.

Furthermore, once he reached a certain ranking, Players would be rewarded with a fixed amount of Diamonds from the game so that they could use them to purchase items from the Market.

Naturally, if this game wanted to be greedy about it, the Diamonds could be separated into bound Diamonds or non-bound Diamonds and certain items could only be purchased via non-bound Diamonds. Lin Ke could only be disappointed if that was the case.

Fortunately, Lin Ke did not see any sections catering to bound Diamonds when he inspected the Market. This meant that he could buy any items on the Market with Diamonds.

Lin Ke could remember clearly a sentence from the guide. It hoped that VIP0 and minor cash players would try to get to the top of the Arena. It would be best for them to get close to those wealthy cash players or players with high VIP ranking early on in the hope that they could carry the other players to the top. They would be rewarded with thousands of Diamonds and the early development would be much smoother.

The reward was a few thousand Diamonds!

Lin Ke might not have cared back then, but the current him was very tempted just by the thought of it. He could not wait for the Arena to appear so that he could win a huge amount of Diamonds.

When the time came, he could buy anything that he liked or needed. He would no longer need to hold onto his remaining 10 Diamonds and drool as he looked at the items presented in the Market!

Diamonds were valuable items but Lin Ke did not have many at that moment. He had to go back to sleep for a while more to make sure that he had enough energy for the day.

However, when Lin Ke used the tower's Unique Sight as he was on his way back, he was shocked to see a few black figures lurking around outside. He focused on them and recognized that these black figures were the Werewolves that he had encountered twice that day.

"Werewolves again? Aren't they scared of death?"

Lin Ke gritted his teeth as he was beginning to feel annoyed by the Werewolves' presence.

He originally thought that these Werewolves would get that he was not someone they could mess with after many of their kind were killed. Not to the point where they would run far away from the tower, but they should not have continued surrounding the Elemental Tower.

Lin Ke could easily guess why these Werewolves were latching onto him. It was not that they had yet to give up, it was that they wanted to take revenge.

This was something he could not tolerate as the enemies would cause great trouble for him.

One mistake would cost him his life. Hence, Lin Ke kept telling himself that these Werewolves must be killed no matter what.

If he could not strike fear into the Werewolves' hearts, then he had no choice but to eradicate the lot of them. It would be best to destroy their nests, or even the entire population.

Lin Ke had one obvious impression of these Werewolves.

They held grudges.

After hesitating for a while, Lin Ke decided to retract the two words to update his impressions on them.

They held extreme grudges!

These beings must be wiped off the map or they would start ambushing him when they realize that they would not win by fighting head-on. They would lurk in the dark and end his life when he was careless.

"How should I wipe them out then?"

Lin Ke did not feel bad about killing these Werewolves. Since they tried to kill him, he did not have to feel bad about killing them.

He was thinking about how he should kill these Werewolves.

Since they were able to return so quickly to spy on him, the Werewolves' hideout should not be far away from here. At the very best, the journey would take only an hour.

Based on the Werewolves' traveling speed in the forest, it might just be twenty to thirty kilometers away, maybe closer.

With a tribe of Werewolves that harbored extreme anger towards him at such close proximity, Lin Ke felt that they should be taken care of as soon as possible.

Although the distance seemed very short, it was still quite far if it was in a forest. It would be incredibly difficult to find their hideout there.

Dra was a Red Dragon. Although she appeared as a humanoid, her initiation and combat capabilities were incredibly high. She could easily handle a few dozens of Werewolves attacking her at once.

Lin Ke was incredibly astonished when, ambushed by Werewolves the night before, Dra had rushed in without any hesitation.

It was a posture that did not even see any threat from her opponent. In fact, when Dra was explaining her skills to Lin Ke, he was certain that those Werewolves were not able to penetrate through Dra's Dragon King Shield. None of them would have the opportunity to harm her.

However, Lin Ke had also questioned Dra the night before since he wondered if the Werewolves were able to harm her at all.

Dra shook her head and was completely honest with Lin Ke. "It would be a piece of cake since there are only a few dozen of them. I won't be fazed at all. However, if their numbers are in the hundreds, I'll have to be cautious. If there is a large pack of at least 200 of them, I'll certainly die if I don't escape."

Their numbers were able to win against quality. Since Dra was at her most primitive form, she was no match for hundreds of Werewolves.

Lin Ke would only be at ease if he were to search for the Werewolves' hideout with Avina and Dra by his side. They could fight more Werewolves if they teamed up.

However, only Lin Ke and Compassionate Priest Lucy would be left by the Elemental Tower. As a support Hero, and a Blue Grade one at that, Lin Ke wondered just how many Werewolves she could withstand.

Truthfully, Lin Ke was able to maintain his defensive state because the Elemental Tower in his Fortress was still developing. Furthermore, the Smithing Hall was almost completed and he soon could purchase Equipment for his Heroes and further Upgrade them.

Still, the Silver required would certainly increase. The Silver given by the Dormitory would soon increase in a few days' time and he could use his maximum strength to wipe out those Werewolves.

However, Lin Ke's heart kept rushing him to kill off those Werewolves as soon as possible. A threat that was left unchecked at such close proximity was simply something he could not ignore.

"If only I had a new Hero."

Lin Ke muttered as he laughed at his own thought.

He would require a Summoning Card to summon a Hero. Although he could summon a Hero without a Summoning Card from the Basic Altar, he would need to spend Diamonds to summon a Hero from the High-level Altar.

Lin Ke was reluctant despite the fact that one summon would cost him only 300 Diamonds. He would only rely on the free summoning that was given to him every 3 days.

Frankly speaking, the chances of him getting a new Hero was simply too low.

Hence, he only had one method left.

Lin Ke would have to investigate the whereabouts of the Werewolves' hideout, gather all of his forces and destroy them.

He hid deep in the Elemental Tower and kept producing Elemental Guards to protect himself so that the Werewolves would not be able to get a hold of him.
