Lin Ke opened his battle list and readied himself for the first battle of Bloodbath Hall.

In the first protector’s room was the protector himself and 7 NPC monsters. After a quick glance through, Lin Ke had decided his candidates for the battle.

In reality, there were not many to choose from.

Dra would defend on the frontline, in the middle were Alice and Avina as the damage dealers and at the back was Kara as the healer. The 4 female Heroes had a clear role to play, but Lin Ke was completely clueless when it came to his own position.

With no Equipment Upgrades nor anything else noteworthy, Lin Ke had the lowest stat amongst all of them.

His Rating was also the lowest and most common. Basically, it was likely he would be killed instantly once he entered the battlefield.

However, if he could upgrade his equipment set to Level 30, naturally he would become much stronger – but he would still fall short when compared to his Heroes.

Hence, Lin Ke was not fully willing to upgrade his own Equipment.

It was a waste of money and the effects were not even that good.

Upon closer consideration, Lin Ke would still need to be involved in the battle, and upgrading his Equipment would not be such a bad idea. Besides, even if he was defeated in the battle, his Equipment could still be equipped by other Heroes to continue fighting.

“In that case, there should be at least 4 equipment sets that needed to be upgraded, the Resources needed for this must be scary.”

Lin Ke smacked his lips and looked at the 900,000 plus Silver left. He knew that upgrading 2 more equipment sets would cost close to 600,000 Silver. He had very little idea of how much could be done with the remainings.

One of the requirements for upgrading the Elemental Tower to Level 4 was 100,000 Silver.

Furthermore, it merely took 5,000 Silver to upgrade the tower to Level 3, it was a far cry from the 100,000 Silver required for Level 4. It was probably because the newcomer’s period was over, Lin Ke could no longer benefit from its discount.

Perhaps other Facilities would demand such a dramatic increase in Silver too when upgrading from Level 3 to Level 4.

Lin Ke remembered that one of his Dormitories had been upgraded to Level 3. He could check it out later to see whether it takes a terrifying amount of Silver to reach Level 4.

However, returning to the topic, Lin Ke now felt that he was better off upgrading his Equipment. After all, 30 levels worth of upgrades were sure to grant decent defensive abilities to Lin Ke, albeit him realizing that there would not be many accidents as long as he was hidden within the Elemental Tower.

“And so it is done.” If Lin Ke could withstand the previous Tough Shield Warrior training, he could naturally withstand the pain of spending close to 300,000 Silver!

Having upgraded his Equipment, Lin Ke felt an unending stream of energy glowing from within his body.

This was not a hallucination. The Equipment of Fortress was Soul Equipment. After upgrading it, one could clearly feel the difference and the enhancement of their strengths.

“Hmm, this should be enough.”

Lin Ke hesitated when it came to Avina’s Equipment, he thought, ‘She’s also one of our main damage dealers. Won’t it be bad if I don’t upgrade her Equipment too?’

Lin Ke looked at his remaining Silver, there was still more than 600,000 Silver left.

“Ugh, this isn’t even enough for me.” Lin Ke sighed. In the end, he still leveled Avina’s Equipment up to Level 30.

In for a penny, in for a pound, he proceeded to also upgrade Stardust’s Child Kara’s Equipment to Level 30!

Within a team, a healer must not be the source of weakness.

If the healer was instantly killed, there would be nothing else one could do!

Lin Ke let out a sigh of relief and pushed around the Stats Interfaces of his female Heroes. All their Equipment had reached Level 30. Lin Ke was pleased with the sight of it.

Having increased their capabilities by this much, they would probably have an easier time out there.

In the midst of that thought, Lin Ke was stunned, ‘Not good. I forgot about something. What if they were in an important battle while I was upgrading their Equipment?’

Lin Ke instantly regretted his decision. It would be horrible if something went wrong in the process.

He knew that Avina and the rest were outside but still decided to proceed with the upgrades before their return.

‘I hope it won’t be too bad.’ Lin Ke prayed. It was unlikely that any battles would take place in the morning. Besides, Dra was the main source of combat power in that group whereas Avina and the rest belonged to the rearguard. Judging from their capabilities, it would at most delay their time a little before they would soon recover their conditions.

“Damn it, if only there’s a way to contact them.”

Lin Ke clenched his jaw tightly. He had completely no way of garnering any information about their situations. They were also far from the perimeter of the Elemental Tower, Lin Ke was unable to see them.

Lin Ke briefly took a deep breath to calm himself. He touched Avina’s image in her Stats Interface and thought, ‘Oh Avina, are you alright there?’

“My Lord?” Suddenly, a question sounded. Lin Ke was stunned to hear that it was a familiar voice.

“Avina? Is that you?”

Lin Ke asked loudly, but he was greeted back with silence.

What happened there? Lin Ke frowned and thought carefully. How did he hear Avina’s voice?

He looked at his own finger and slowly touched Avina’s image in her Stats Interface, he called out, “Avina?”

“My Lord! Is there anything I can do?”

Avina’s voice rang across his ears once again.

Lin Ke withdrew his finger and asked, “Where are you?”

There was no reply. There was only silence in his surroundings, all that remained was the echoes of his own voice.

Lin Ke continued pressing Avina’s image and waited for a few seconds. Avina’s voice resurfaced again, “My Lord? Do you need us to return?”

There was a missing gap in her answer. Lin Ke understood what was going on. It was probably Avina’s second time asking whether she needed to return. The first time she asked was also probably the time when Lin Ke withdrew his finger.

“Yes, come back. There’s a matter that requires all of you.” Lin Ke continued pressing Avina’s image.

It was soon enough that he had gotten a reply from Avina, “Alright, I’ll tell the rest. We’ll return together.”

“Be careful!” Lin Ke advised. Having gotten a response from her, Lin Ke moved his finger away. He was no longer pressing Avina’s image.

There had been no sounds since then.

Lin Ke looked at the Stats Interfaces before his eyes. After some consideration, he navigated to Dra’s page and pressed her image.

“Dra!”

“Lord?” Dra’s voice sounded like she was panicking, but she soon steadied herself. “My Lord, is there anything you need me to do?”

Why was Dra so nervous? Lin Ke soon knew what the answer was.

“Dra, I miss the fish soup you made last time and would love to taste it again in the afternoon. Can you catch some fish on your way back later?”

Lin Ke smiled and asked. When Dra had heard his request, she excitedly exclaimed, “Sure! I’ll bring to you the freshest and most delicious fish soup I can make!”

Lin Ke laughed and bidded farewell, but his finger had still not left Dra’s image.

It was a while before Dra asked with hesitation, “My Lord, is there anything else you would like to instruct me to do?”

“I just want to say that if a person made a mistake but with good intentions, and if that person has understood their mistakes and resolved it, we shouldn’t blame that person. Instead, we should forgive them. Don’t you think so?” Lin Ke smiled and explained, “Also, be careful on the road!”

As he finished, he removed his finger from Dra’s image.
